Spider-Man 2 / Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) gives up his crime-fighting identity of Spider-Man in a desperate attempt to return to ordinary life and keep the love of MJ (Kirsten Dunst). @@thomascalderon598 If he’d been wrong he would’ve screwed himself over, but possible I suppose. At the same time, the smart thing to do in that case would’ve been to kidnap Peter as well. Peter would either lure Spider-Man to his location or reveal himself to be him.

Actually, when MJ said that she wanted to know something from kissing Peter, she just tried to to make sure that Peter is the man behind the mask of spiderman. Remember the ending of 1st Spiderman when MJ realized something after kissing Peter? The kiss tasted the same when she kissed Spiderman upside down. So, MJ had figured it out like 50% And the stress was instantly gone and his power was back because he felt happy MJ asked him to kiss her.

It was directed by Sam Raimi, the guy who made the Evil Dead movies and a lot of other horror. When you realise that you see so many campy horror movie styles in the movie it's great haha.

“Don’t hurt Peter!” Throws a car at him & then throws him into a wall so hard it would severely injure a normal person. And the final battle clearly established that Doc Ock didn’t know Peter was Spider-Man until he unmasked himself.

To the people saying Otto threw the car trying to kill Peter, I say what happened was Otto got in the way of the car and it tried to avoid him, and skid off the road and into the diner. You can tell by the tire screeching heard as MJ goes in for the kiss

The car throwing aside which, yeah, if Peter didn't have powers he'd be dead, but I think the reason he threw Peter in the wall was to specifically hurt him so Spider-Man gets angry. Hear me out. I feel like even if Peter didn't have powers, the wall hit and debris falling around him wouldn't have killed him. It would have hospitalized him, yeah, but not hurt him. Ock's plan was probably that, since he thought Peter and Spider-Man are friends, Spider-Man would see Peter in terrible condition and then hear that MJ was taken too, and that would really piss him off enough to come to Ock with full throttle. At least, that's how I interpret it. But the car throw was really dumb, ngl.

Can't we just say the dude is crazy and leave it at that? Since the inhibitor chip broke the artifical intelligence in the tentacle backpack is messing with his brain via his brainstem. He's just a deranged psycho at this point being driven crazy by a broken computer in his mind that feels an overwhelming compulsion to finish building the machine those arms were designed for even though he knew it didn't work.

Imagine if after he throws Peter, Ock turns to MJ and rather than just grabbing her and leaving, he actually says “Come along, Miss Jane. We have an appointment to keep.” THEN he grabs her and leaves. I feel like that would fit the person of Molina’s Doc Ock.
