The time is here everyone. I hope you all enjoy my suffering. To those who would like to know, 5x01 will be out on Wednesday. Also, I’ve seen some of you wonder about my upload schedule so here it is: One week they will have reactions every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then the week after that will have reactions every Sunday and Friday, (and it will flip-flop back between 3 a week and 2 a week).

Moffat was actually my favorite writer during RTD's run. He's a fantastic writer and a true fan of the show. I know many people balk at his era, but honestly I feel like most of the worst episodes were written by Mark Gatis and Chris Chibnal. My problems with Chris stem from the utterly forgettable nature of his writing. When I decide to rewatch a past episodes of Doctor Who, It's almost never one of his episodes. The episodes are fine, but nothing really stands out as amazing or above the cuff.

Regenerations are always hard, especially when you bond deeply with a Doctor. For a while, especially as you seem to like Tennants Doctor so much, you won't feel like this new Doctor is him. Like intellectually, you can recognize he's the Doctor but he won't be THE Doctor. Hell, you may even enjoy them, a lot. But for every Doctor, it takes a hot minute before they sort of sneak a way in to your heart with their unique idiosyncrasies, their unique quirks. With time, you start to see more of who you liked in them, that made you connect with the show and it sort of dawns on you that somehow, this IS the same Doctor. Give it time, you'll be fine. It'll hurt, you'll still want them back but slowly you'll see them again in the next actor.

I need to get a plane ticket and give you a hug!! ❤️ Don't worry about the ending and needing a break. We all feel that way when we first see a new Doctor. And when we saw it on a TV we had several months to wait for a new series so didn't have to deal with the whiplash. It's impossible to be hyped when you're so sad! It totally is an end of an era. But I promise it's the start of a new one. I'm really happy you're invested in this show. It's incredibly fun but super painful. Really enjoyed your reaction to every Wilf moment. He's so full of heart. And we saw Joan's (Family of Blood) descendant! Too cool Excited for Wednesday. 💕

Twelfth (technically 14th, wibbly wobbly, timey wimey.) is my favourite. He’s like a fusion of all the previous Doctors, fourth doctors quirky smile, elevens awkwardness, ninths humour, tenths energy, firsts grumpiness and lots more references to the others than I can count.
@wanderingshadow1372
@wanderingshadow1372 2 года назад
When I went through Eleven, I started out loving him, but ended up liking him a lot less after I finished his run. I think that's due to the poor quality of some of his episodes, Series 6 having the most offenders. I also think he's quite overrated and gets way too much love a lot of the time. I think most of it just stems from missing Tennant and Davies. He's a good Doctor, but he is easily my least favourite out of the NuWho Doctors. Ten and Nine are the best in my opinion. Now that RTD is coming back, I reckon the Fourteenth Doctor will likely be perched very high on my list.

Awww Shayla! I knew this would break you. I didn’t want him to go too. 10 will always be my favourite Doctor. It’s definitely the end of an era. The scenes with Wilf and The Doctor were so good. Especially the moment when Wilf gave him the gun and when The Doctor said he would be proud if Wilf was his father. The feels!😭 While the identity of the woman isn’t revealed, she was written to be The Doctor’s mother but it was purposely left ambiguous to keep people guessing. I loved your shock reaction to the knocking reveal. We were misled to believe that the Master would be the death of The Doctor but in reality, it’s Wilf knocking that leads to The Tenth Doctor’s sacrifice. Fantastic acting from David Tennant in that moment. The final moments with The Doctor saying goodbye to all his companions were beautiful. Seeing The Doctor visit Martha, Mickey, Sarah Jane, Jack, Joan’s granddaughter and Rose one more time was so emotional. I knew the Rose part would make you even more emotional. Now you know where the famous gif of Wilf crying comes from. Rose was the first face that The Tenth Doctor saw and it’s also the last face he sees before his death. This will always be my favourite era. The next era isn’t my favourite tbh but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and embrace it. This is the point where my interest kinda decreases but I will still watch your reactions to a certain point because they’re so great. This song has ended but the story never ends. :) God! It really was the end of an era, and David Tennant's performance was amazing. The woman is thought to be the Doctor's mother, can't remember if that was confirmed or not. The goodbyes were heart-wrenching, and if you hadn't cried I'd have been amazed. That last line rips my heart out every time. Also, the song playing as Ten regenerates is called 'Vale Decem', literally 'Goodbye Ten'. I recommend you listen to it on its own with the english translation, it's beautiful.

There was a lot of speculation at the time - not sure if theres any more info about - that the woman was the Doctors mother, or supposed to be and was up to the person watching to decide that or not
@iansmith4023
@iansmith4023 5 лет назад
Yeah,I believe that was RTD's intention. The Doctors family has always been a vague, nebulous thing. He/she does mention them once in a while;and obviously there was Susan - but there have never been any specifics about parents or children in his past;and this appearance was intended to be another element added to the mythos,in order to keep fans guessing.
@KthulhuXxx
@KthulhuXxx 5 лет назад
My problem with that...the Doctor's mother had never been mentioned. I'd rather assume it was Susan or Romana. Then again, I'd rather just kind of pretend most of this episde didn't happen. This was totally a case of melodrama winning out over story, all too frequent an occurance during RTD's tenure as showrunner.
@iansmith4023
@iansmith4023 5 лет назад
@@KthulhuXxx I tend to agree - but then again,(as it was with the Finale of series 4,which was intended as a crossover story blending Classic/New/Torchwood/SJA) if you're going to do a Big Finale which brings back Gallifrey,The High Council,and Rassillon - it's never going to be anything other than ludicrously melodramatic! Both this and the Season 4 Finale are guilty pleasures for me (the latter, moreso). They're strangely plotted,overly melodramatic,and utterly daft - but they have a certain,crass,epic appeal :)

I don't think it's in the 2005 tv series. Might be in a novel. But she's connected to the great other, which is part of the mythology of who. She's part of the sisterhood of Karn (from memory). Which happens at the birth of the timelords. And it's very complicated.

David Tennant will always be my doctor. I remember watching this on New Year's Day when I was eight and I cried a lot too! Matt Smith is a great Doctor- it took me a while to get used to him (most of Series 5 actually) but I ended up really like him for different reasons than I love ten. RTDs era was very emotional and David Tennant played an emotional doctor because he had lost so much, it is a change of tone with a more upbeat eleven. Series 5 was actually meant to be catered more towards American audiences than the series before that and most reactors I have watched were sold on Matt Smith by episodes one- which was weird for me to see as it took me a long while to settle- then again I was quite young and had a crush of David Tennant.

You know what I cried too but I cried as he was in the box with Wilf I really thought I was gonna lose him in that scene. I didn't cry after but I was bloody sad and depressed but smiling as he said his goodbyes. I will forever remember "Vale Decem" it's beautiful to this day. Many hate that this regeneration was so drawn out & The Doctor doesnt die. No he doesn't but everything he was does & I love having my heart smashed with each regen. It is a death to me & I need time to mourn. I do feel for reactors sometimes because the whiplash is huge at the time we had months to wait and get over and adjust.

I feel you. I was a mess after Nine, and it took me a couple of months to give Ten a chance. Then I've come to love him even more, and was devastated after The End of Time. Thankfully, it wasn't long before I dived into Eleven's run. It took some time for me to warm up to him, but of course I came to love him (though, if I'm being honest- not as much). And the cycle repeated when Twelve came along. Surprisingly, Twelve became THE Doctor for me, going beyond even my love for Ten (and his relationship with his companion beyond even my love for Rose&Ten). I know you are sad, but you have some really wonderful things to come, and I'm happy to take that ride with you.

The loss of 10 was so hard. I know a lot of people loved 11, but personally I had to really force myself to carry on sometimes. There are some great episodes during his run, but overall I never developed the same emotional attachment to Matt Smith’s Doctor as I did with Tennant, or even Eccleston. I know I’m in the minority there though. I’m very interested to see how you feel about him as the series goes on.

As much as Eleven rocks it I always wanted to see Ten again. I wouldn't say minority (maybe I'm wrong), Ten just has it and I think Ten being 1a and Eleven being 1b is pretty common for a lot of Whovians. Though a lot of people like different things. If we are discussing "how good" a Doctor is, it is a good thing!

Anybody else notice what the significance of showing the companions was? It didn't just show 10th's companions after they left, it shows how they've moved on without him. 1 - Donna finally found excitement without (though unconsciously/unknowingly) him. 2 - Sarah Jane stopped waiting for him and started a family of her own. 3 - Mickey stepped out of the Doctor's shadow to become a hero in his own right. 4 - Martha let go of her love for him and moved on with someone else. 5 - (Even though it wasn't shown) Rose accepted she could never have the Doctor's love and got together with a mortal version of him. 6 - Jack has gotten his own crew and despite his bad fortune, has continued to make the most of it. And that's what's truly heartbreaking. The Doctor being forced to observe in his dying moments as all his closest friends have gone on to prove that they don't need the eccentric man in a blue box to make their lives special.
