Thank you for making my Monday with a surprise reaction. I like Rory in this episode. He spent two thousand years as an Auton, a plastic duplicate. I think that's why he is so kind in this episode. He knows first hand what it feels like to be human and not human at the same time.
The fact that Amy and Rory live on the TARDIS is acknowledged. The equivalent of that you see in Russell T. Davies' era is the focus on home life with each of the companion's family and friends.
I think Rory can relate to finding himself a plastic replica full of memories that might not be his better than most (still remembers his time as a fake Roman). Well, the Flesh isn't technically plastic but same principal. Though he's naturally empathetic besides.
THANK YOU!! Love these Downton Abbey reactions! I really like this two-parter, I think it gets better on rewatch though. It posed some good questions about identity and what it means to be human, both the positives and negatives. The kind of experiences that we have in common. Then of course Rory's being the great guy that he is! We love you!! You deserve this time away Jess. Take care!!
2:55 Raquel Cassidy hadn't actually appeared in Downton Abbey when this episode was made; she had, however, been in Party Animals with a young actor by the name of...Matt Smith
Yep, that's where I first saw her, and I'd thoroughly recommend Party Animals. Not necessarily as a reaction thing, but just something to watch if anyone's curious to see something else Matt Smith's been in.
I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS. Thank you Sess! :D This cheered me up today. Rory is so kind and caring, nurse is really a perfect job for him. I think I like this story more as a two parter, with both of them together and probably prefer the second one a bit, but that's usually the case for me and two parters. Your reaction to "the eyepatch bitch" always makes me laugh (and I think my reaction was about the same when I was watching). Hope you have a safe trip! :)
I think I was mainly irritated - that and slightly surprised, despite the briefness of her appearances and the fact that she is getting on a bit for such goings on, at Frances Barber not yet threatening to get her kit off.
I think one of the things that this season does really well is showcase Rory. Obviously, Amy and the Doctor have this special relationship. But Rory also feels like a full fledged companion--one with his own strengths. He's not just a tag-along.
Wow! What a lovely surprise!! I'm so excited for the next few reactions. Episode 7 is one of my all time favorite Doctor Who episodes. Have a great time on your trip and we'll see you in a bit! ☺️💖
Loved seeing you sing along to Muse! Don't get much contemporary music in the show. But of course the Doctor would listen to Supermassive Black Hole. haha
Oh wow!!! Thank you for this early post!!! I am a huge Doctor Who fan and I have just recently been getting into the whole idea of watching people's reaction videos to various TV shows. Yours are by far the best!!! I have literally spent the last couple of weeks just binge-watching all of your Doctor Who reaction videos, so I'm now up-to-date. I adore your videos and I am always on the look out for when you post something new. The next two or three episodes are awesome and I look forward to your reaction to those episodes in particular. Series 6 and 7 of Doctor Who are by far among the best. Thank you so much for doing this, enjoy your break!
Well, this was a very pleasant surprise! Glad you enjoyed this one. I wasn't too keen on this two-parter at the time, but your reaction made this episode at least seem better than I remembered.
I'm finally caught up :). Love your reactions, and am looking forward to the next one. Sorry to hear you got spoiled on twitter, but hopefully even if it was a big one, there will still be surprises. Don't know what specifically was spoiled, so I'm not gonna try to guess, cause I don't want to accidently spoil something else.
What a pleasant surprise. I thought we were going to have to wait two weeks for this one but I'm glad we got it out of the way sooner. Personally I think it's one of the weaker episodes(along with the pirate one) but it might just be that the 'good' episodes this season are really good. Also I heard about someone telling you a big spoiler on twitter. If it's the big spoiler that I'm thinking of then that really sucks. What's wrong with people? Still there's a lot of great moments to look forward to, hopefully you don't run into anymore spoilers.
Wow, that was an unexpected treat. There two episodes are probably my least fav of this season, but I like that it shows Rory being more than just an adjunct of Amy. Can't really say much until you've seen the second part as I don't want to give any inadvertent spoilers. As for "life aboard the TARDIS", there are a number of minisodes this season ... some are just teaser trailers, some are "life aboard the TARDIS, and some are a bit more. In the fun but not important category, you might want to check out "Bad Night" and "Good Night" (which are supposed to come *before* the Rebel Flesh) ... www.dailymotion.com/video/xwp6hh_doctor-who-bad-and-good-nights_shortfilms ... but *don't* watch beyond those two (it'll autoplay the next one if you don't stop it).
I agree about what this story does for Rory. Series 5 just did not care whatsoever about making him more than an extension of Amy whereas Series 6 fleshes him out a bit more and this episode is a nice example of him acting of his own accord (not just doing something because he loves Amy as that seems to be all he cares about the rest of the time).
I'm sure you know, but you got a real cute review on the Reality Bomb podcast this month from Jim Sangster and Paul Condon. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
That microwave scene always gets me as we had a crazy microwave which would cool the plate so you could pull it out -but I always forget other things like ovens and other people's microwaves
It's really difficult to react to a two part story, sometimes! Still, one of the things about Doctor Who is that you may not love the episode, but you will enjoy it! A very nice observations on Rory. He truly is the heart and compassion for this group!
The ganger doctor reveal would've been better if there weren't those 'trust me' teaser bits throughout the episode, cus I'm pretty sure everyone saw it coming
Well it was pretty obvious. "Trust me, i'm the Doctor" is a classic line and we even heard him say it earlier in the episode. If they had just had a creepy face in the gloop and then a creepy hand and maybe some painful moaning sounds instead of that line, it would have been a lot better of a reveal at the end.
0saintclark0, this comment reminds me of that scene in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", after Profesor Snape knocked down Professor Gilderoy Lockhart during the dueling session......hahahahaha, yes of course now it is pretty obvious.....
Hi Sesska, I`ve got to say, I`ve always been interested in Doppelgangers since it happened to one of the Tardis crew during my Dr.`s time. I won`t say who, you never know, you might want to check Classic Who out later. Then, the `60`s t.v. program (The Invaders) & the 1978 Sci-Fi/horror film (Invasion of the Body Snatchers). This 2- parter was an interesting take on it, in that humans were doing it on purpose essentially for H/S benefits. Like the Terminator franchise & other Dr.Who stories nobody suspects this could come back to haunt them. Interestingly, in the Neil Gaiman story something similar took place. Then you could say that in the "Tom MacRae" story something similar occurred also. The Dr. & Towers will he ever learn, at least twice for the 10th Dr., then I think this is the second time for the 11th. At 4.16, asides from the Dr., Rory is the only other person who could sympathise from experience. At 8.00, Rory could not resist being modest !! Lol :) At 8.08, Go away, Go away, come back another day. :) At 10.09, Well Done Sesska !! Enjoyed your unexpected bonus reaction, so glad you were feeling so good on the day. :)
Sesska you are such a naughty tease!! You posted a video saying "look guys big move coming you need to just chill your reaction engines just a lil bit as i might not be posting your show reaction for a while...." Owww i thought well i will cope (fam and moving much much more important than silly ol DW or reaction hungry subs xx) BUT yet forever the tease Sesska you have posted not one but two reactions inc. this Tuesday surprise! Well i for one say "gawd bless ya ma'am!" thanks for a nice surprise reaction and best of luck with that move :)
OMG just realised The Scottish guy with the white hair is the evil time lord villain The Eleven in Doom Coalition He has all 11 incarnations stuck in his head -Think the movie Spilt but the evil ones have control
Yey! Random question, but considering this episode has quite a few, now you are 6 seasons in how are you managing with all the different British accents? Used to them or do you still have to think a bit? Lol, to be fair I'm British and the Scottish can lose me!
Annd i'm finally all caught up with these reactions, now I have to wait XD I've really enjoyed these so far and can't wait to see how you react to whats to come also your really pretty btw
Ooo - unexpected! Not a great fan of this two-parter - despite Rachel Cassidy and Marshall Lancaster who I both really like. It's, perhaps, a bit too prototypical Doctor Who - base under siege, check. Endless running up and down corridors, check. Countdown to destruction, check. There are some nice ideas in it - but I've never enjoyed rewatching it particularly. Still - sets up the mid season break nicely - look forward to the second half and season 6.5 when you return from your hols!
all Things Paper.......it is "plain", obvious too you, what purpose does it serve to share that information? To give knowledge of future events, that makes it a spoiler
StornWolf, because you have a hard time with this, I will go slow....."Too bad these two episodes are probably my least favorite episode of the 11th doctor series"....she has only reacted to one of the two, so giving your opinion on both is not warranted as of yet, why is it so difficult for you to allow her to see these organically, without you adding your opinion to what is coming?
