I like how they greet you with "Welcome! You are unauthorized. Your death will now be implemented." Just because they're going to kill you doesn't mean they have to be rude about it. There's a similar theme in The Bells of Saint John: "Actually he's about to go on holiday. Kill him when he gets back. Let's not be unreasonable."

I think it's his name he said to her because how does the 10th doctor find out that river knows his name... and he could also had said tell river I love her too

​@GhostPlay But why would this version of River even know that there was any significance in his name? He just sits up, whispers "Ralph" into her ear, or whatever, and she's like "IM SURE SHE KNOWS" ? Doesn't really make a lot of sense lol. Plus, the whole point of his name is that he would only tell it to someone he loves - and River didn't know she was River by that point, she only found out when the Tessalecta transformed into her. It wouldn't make sense for him to be telling her the secret of his name, to pass on to the woman she thought he loved, and just casually whisper it to her even though - as far as she knew at the time - they were complete strangers.

For River to know his name in the Forest of the Dead she would need to have heard it from the Doctor. I like to think he told her so the timeline would make sense. I'm also sure that HE does in fact love her at this point considering all they've been through and off camera stuff, so the idea that he would only tell it to someone he would EVENTUALLY marry still works As for how she would know of the significance of his name, he calls himself "The Doctor", so i'm pretty sure she just assumed it was a nickname and that River would know his real one because of the way he described her

A small correction is he is not and knows he is not and has always known he is not an immortal. He has a long and complicated lifespan compared to us however there is a limit and he can die (both from wounds and old age) so he is not immortal. He just has more time (with complications like regeneration)

@@plantainsame2049 not really sure what point you're trying to make. Him being aware of his mortality doesn't mean he's not going to do risky things. Every (or I guess let's be generous and say most) humans know they are mortal yet there are still many life risking things people do every day. It's just a case of weighing up your options and deciding if the risk is worth it to you. Some people live in fear and some try to experience everything they can. Most people fall somewhere in between. Just because someone decides to take the risks you think they're unaware of their mortality?

An interesting part about her book was in earlier episodes, where River said the book is nearly full, and she said the Doctor did know how many pages she would need

No he doesn't. So, there are two seperate diaries, Rivers and the Doctors. In this episode we see The Doctor give River her own, blank one to be filled in with her adventures with him. As we see in 'The Impossible Astronaut', the Doctor at some point gets an identical diary and does the same as River, keeping track of events from his perspective. At the end of 'Forest of the Dead' The tenth Doctor leaves Rivers diary behind in the library. But soon after her and the Doctors 24 years on Darillium, Nardole goes to the library (or possibly 12th Doctor himself) and recovers the diary, which is last seen in 'Extremis'.

Lol I can see that. I watched this season as it was airing and you can't even imagine how much it was killing me to see the next ep after "A good Man goes to War" was like 7 months and I was upset. But I love this show so much. The Doctor is my hero.

To be fair it's literally in plain sight when you watch the show.

There is an episode of The Batman where Batman is laughing and the Joker tells this joke.

I love most of Moffat's work, but I don't really like this episode. Just the "fish fingers and custard" reference seemed too meta, and entering into the fandom. Also would have been nice to have Mels introduced in the start of the season before they left for America. Just enough to establish her as a named character. Other people have different complaints about "mysteries left unsolved" that I don't really see anything that wasn't wrapped-up by the end of the season.

I hate this episode because it's a terrible conclusion to what happened in the last episode. Growing up with your child is not the same as raising her and Amy and Rory should have been furious and demanded their baby back. Instead it's just shrugged off and nobody cares anymore about the baby that has been kidnapped. It just felt like they did very little to find Melody and like Moffatt had no real plan.

Because SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER It sets up a completely bullshit way out of Doc's death. It has Hitler just for publicity photos. Also, it the first bad sign of Moffat losing control of his storyarc. Which crashes spectacularly in Time of The Doctor.

@@SweenyTodd98 Ya but we get that when we see the episode " The wedding of River song" Amy talks about growing up with her child is not the same as raising her and the same with The Darlik asylum. She talks about how she wished she had her baby. They didn't shrug it off, they let it go bc theres no way of changing it. Its fixed points.

The Mel's thing being out of nowhere and it sort of felt like it wasted the concept of WW2, but eh.

that’s because what happens up until she comes out of nowhere was conditional on The Doc resetting the universe, following the exact steps he did until then - including Amy remembering him, by his design - and so on forever. She didn’t always exist, she existed once the events that led to Amy’s position with her parents and so on existed.

Melody/River of 1970 (she regenerated around January, 6 months post July 1969) *did* make her own way back to Leeds; remember, River (much like Romana and some other Timelords from the classic era) has greater control over her regeneration process/expenditure than the Doctor does -- she's commented before about how she can tick back her age, if desired, in whatever incarnation. She matured enough to track down her parents in the UK from the US then regressed herself back to being a child circa the mid-late 1990s (as Amy/Rory were born in 1989) to then grow up with her parents in one of the several timelines that interweave to form Amy's personal history. (Remember: Mel/River both *did* and *did not* grow up with her parents -- several timelines compose Amy's personal experienced history for that period in question, and they are in a degree of flux depending on how you interact with them.)

Why did Mels have to be foregrounded?

Because it feels incredibly jarring (and is sloppy writing) to introduce a character who is very important to the plot and has a long history and deep connection to pre-established characters without a single mention or even slight allusion to their existence beforehand. Also, River Song's character history is already complicated enough without haphazardly throwing this part into it out of nowhere and actually, come to think of it, is it ever relevant to the plot at any point after this that River grew up with Amy and Rory? Also, do they ever explain how even though River regenerated into a baby in the 1960s she was still young enough in the 90s/00s to go to school with Amy and Rory? This whole thing just raises so many more questions that it answers and it needn't have done.

@@Zomdra Plenty of great stories introduce characters fairly promptly and don't spend much time sticking foundations in the ground. It's all about execution. I think this mostly works.

Of course, execution of ideas counts for a lot and if you thought the execution here was OK that's cool, I just didn't personally.

his after-Pond appearance is the best, but i like tweed more than green coat.

As much as I think the tweed is his most iconic look, his later coats definitely looked better on him.

I prefer this coat over the four Tweeds he's worn in the show.

I assume he just missed that it was mentioned in an episode. I'm sure he thought it was just one of those things not mentioned in the show and is additional information

Gilanes yeah ..it’s nice that they did more standalone episodes for a bit as a nice break from the more serialized nature of the few episodes previously

@@taimurmuggo1634 I'd agree mediocre is probably the best word to describe it - perhaps terrible goes a bit far. It is my least favorite episode of series 6 followed by The Curse of the Black Spot, though. Night Terrors doesn't really do anything - Amy and Rory just wander the dollhouse and eventually things come together and credits roll. It seems like a waste of an episode. The kid's acting really ruins it for me (I'm not sure the bad acting can be explained because even an alien should show fear and worry fairly naturally, right?). It's a very weak follow-up to the bombast of the previous episodes, but it does provide a reprieve before moving into The Girl Who Waited and The God Complex, some of my favorite episodes of the season.

Well, I wouldn’t call it too much of a spoiler, because I never knew that and I’ve watched the whole series several times before. Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention, or maybe it’s not as much of a spoiler as you think
