A walkthrough of one of the "streams" from the red button episode of Doctor Who I co-created and co-produced. This video shows the videos played if the player succeeds in every puzzle/task.
Imagine if they did another one of these, and it follows this timeline where you succeed in everything from this, but with a different doctor. I imagine The Doctor’s first line would be something like, “Don’t you remember me? You helped me stop the Graske at Christmas? How many years ago was that? Oh…I’ve been away longer than I thought. Sorry about that. Anyway, let’s go. I need you for something.”
I was 6 when this happened and it was honestly such a good, simple way of getting kids completely on-board with the new Doctor. An adventure with him, in his new costume, where you're the companion. I don't think this gets enough recognition. It was really cool live. Shame most of it was pretty easy, but I remember feeling like a worthy companion when I spotted the Graske at 7:13 on a shitty little TV in 2005.
I just found out this thing existed. Now that I've watched it, I feel so turned on, my stomach hurts (no joke). And it's kinda funny that I bumped into this video on Christmas Eve.
@@billywhizz09 well takes place right after Christmas Invasion but the episodes might not have been filmed in order plus he literally only had one scene in Christmas invasion the rest he got to
Probably easier to go with a Slitheen, on both a narrative and production level. Anyone playing this will probably have experienced at least some of Christopher Eccleston's season the year before and will therefore likely recognise the Slitheen, who appeared in 3 episodes that season, whereas a different type of Raxacoricofallapatorian with a different colour may not have this same effect. Plus it means the production team can save money by reusing CGI models of the Slitheen from Eccleston's season, which would be especially useful given that the costumes of the Graske and the set of the stasis pod chamber were probably made for this interactive episode, given that they didn't appear in any prior episodes.
This game was the coolest thing ever to me as a kid, the good ending was amazing to get. I remember trying the bad ending after and it seriously felt like I had been scolded by my dad...
I'd like to see the version where you fluff all the answers, just because I remember it was nice to see David Tennant try to deliver "You are shit" (essentially) without coming across mean. This was on just after his first episode so he must've been desperate not to make everyone hate him right away.
no but this is genuinely so adorable and such an amazing way to warm up to the new doctor. i love that this is one of the first things you see of him after he regenerates
David Tennant smiling at me, telling me that I'm doing a good job, that I'm amazing, and getting a good glimpse of his body; I've never been this turned on. I even accidentally bumped into this video on Christmas Eve, so I also have David wishing me a merry Christmas!
oh just me, using my crochet needle as my sonic screwdriver, actually holding it up and doing stuff with it, because it was the only thing in reach to use
So how did this actually work back in the day? Do you actually have interactive TV’s in England or does the BBC just own the first 9 channels on the broadcast network?
Yes basically, you could use a feature called the BBC red button (which was just a red button on the remote) where it took you to many interactive puzzles & games and unseen clips. They also put it up on the Doctor Who website at the time
Not shown in this video but if you messed up, different dialogue from Tennant would play instead. Examples (Can't remember the lines exactly so take these with a grain of salt): Didn't get who was the copy: "No, you got it wrong, it was the mother" Messes up the controls: "Ugh, let me handle that one" Uses the Stasis button: "You picked Stasis...?"
I mean, he acknowledged the fact that we (the player) have been “watching his adventures” so he probably just guessed that we’d have a basic idea of how to fly the TARDIS.
this was a amazing game it was ahead of it's time, it was short but really fun coz it actually felt like a episode of doctor who but you also star in it
THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD TRAUMA. I have no fuckin idea why but my dad was a massive dr who fan so he showed me this and it fucking scared me shitless. the things look so goofy now but it was a genuinely afraid of them, to the point that i just stopped watching dr who to the point that even the theme song gave me anxiety until i was like 13
The comment above is nostalgic and sweet and then.. I read this. This. This is genuinely hilarious. The models back around 2005ish really were in the uncanny valley, so it makes sense a kid would be scared by them. Reminds me of the spy kids movies, I was scared by the THX sound and would look away and hide.
It broadcast on a loop on the BBC Red Button "channel" Christmas 2005. Presumabley all choices were broadcast simultaneously and you'd be shown the feed corelating with your choices. Later preserved as a Series 2 DVD Extra and in Flash player form on the Dr Who Website until 2021.
I remember loving this and was really chuffed when I aced it! ... Except I ended up freezing everything at the end and completely regretted it. Not sure if I was ever able to play it again and do it the correct way, that may just haunt me for the rest of my life lol.
10:40 fake fan, doctor that's a raxacoricofallapatorian, you yourself explained that slitheen is just a surname. And even then it couldn't be from the family slitheen since you killed them all and the one that lived got reborn and given to a different family. I'm dissapointed in this lack of continuity 😔. I resign from the internet, send!
You do realise in the Sarah Jane Adventures several episodes are dedicated to the surviving members of the Slitheen family after the attack on number 10.
Great quality! Thanks! Imagine if they made a dvd that still did this and has either this story or one like this, but with Tennants 14th doctor, thanks!!
