I love how Capaldi was Caecillius in Doctor Who, John Frobisher in Torchwood and the Doctor himself

And the most beautiful part about it is that the writers actually justified the whole thing over time: Caecilius was the first one with that face and was saved by the Doctor; then came his distant descendant Frobisher whose life (as revealed by the authors) ended in tragedy as a way for time to repair itself, and in the end came Twelve who chose Caecilius’ face as a stark reminder of the reason of his travels. That’s a truly majestic way of topping it all if you think about it!

@@cryptozoomauler5505 Doctor Who is going to be shown on Disney+. This is for the new Whovians to come, who're picking up the show with this new doctor. Basically, Disney+ are promoting it. Those people might be curious, so the Doctor Who RU-vid channel is putting this up as a "this is what you can expect" for people who've never seen the show before, so they get that the Doctor travels through time. While this is "duh, of course" to us old hands, it's a new thing to many new viewers who're going to be joining now with Disney partnering up to screen and promote the show worldwide.

@@StJamesGraphics it wasn't inferior materials, the BBC were trying to save money by reusing early video tape or simply tossing the original films in a skip as they thought they wouldn't need them and they took up valuable space on the shelves. A sad state of affairs that we've lost so much because of their lack of foresight at the time

I'm pretty sure the classic incarnations of the Doctor went back in time, too. Skaro, in "Genesis of the Daleks", comes to mind. And Paris 1979 in "City of Death." I could go on and on. (Both Fourth Doctor, btw, and both my very favorite Classic DW stories.)

Putting aside everyone’s glib comments, the show’s had a surprisingly small percentage of its stories set on Earth past, which honestly, outside of some plot where the timeline is actually being weaponized, is the most effective usage of the time travel format. If you’re not doing some historical celebrity story, or doing a temporal fish-out-water situation (like on Quantum Leap), your basically just doing stories about defending the earth or visiting alien worlds, and honestly, those would basically play out the same way without time travel as a plot point.

For the folks who're saying "duh, of course Doctor Who goes back in time", remember that Doctor Who is now with Disney+ and is going to reach a wider audience. This is not for us. This is for the new people who've never seen it before, to establish that, yes, Doctor Who does time travel.

Never mind the tribe of Gum, the time Meddler, the Aztecs, Romans, mythmakers, crusade, the chase, gunfighters, st Bartholomews eve, the power of the Daleks, Wargames, pyramids of mars, Fang rock, weng chiang, the visitation, Ghostlight, among others. if it werent for the fact that there are a fair amount of aliens that look almost exactly (perfectly really) like humans, i'd wish doctor who had more episodes in the past on other planets. coulda been fun having the companions disguise themselves because humans werent widely discovered until a specific point in time, and they could be mistaken for Gallifreyans lol

Doctor #10, David, rated a 10 with me. Matt Smith & Tom Baker got an 8 from me. Those 3 stand heads above the rest, IMO. The rest just did nothing for me ... 🤷🏻‍♀️. Now, if I could see one of them coming back as the Doctor, with either Sarah Jane Smith, Rose Tyler or even Martha Jones or Clara Oswald (both of whom weren't on there near long enough!), that would be my all time favorite show! 😂. I thought Amy & Donna were ok, but they seemed to take over control of the Doctor Who series when they were Companions, too pushy & aggressive.
