i think it's because we live on earth and seeing the earth almost getting destroyed several times and there is more emotion to that than some random planet getting destroyed but we live here on earth and so maybe there's more emotion, i don't know it's just an idea.

As much as I hated this cobblers, I think the "Back to normal" and even the "ego" lines was actually a sop to continuity. In the past, the series has always had timeLORDS and timeLADIES. When a timelady regenerated, she regenerated as a timelady, when a timelord regenerated, he regenerated as a timelord. So a gender swap during a regeneration is unexpected. It's also not unexpected for a timelord to slag off the previous incarnation. (Like when the sixth doctor hated on the fifth doctor, when the first doctor called the third and second doctors "a dandy and a clown" and all that "Grandad", "Sandshoes" and "Chinny" byplay from the 50th anniversary.

You guys are all missing the larger picture. Timelords don't change genders in between regenerations in the first place.

It ruined so much more than a few episodes. The Time Lords were a formidable presence in the Classic Who. The loss of Gallifrey and the Time Lords made the Doctor who he was in the New Series. Then they bring Gallifrey back with a giant freaking reset button. This is Gallifrey is even one of the best songs of the whole new era, easily. And what do they use it for? To whine at some of the worst written villains around, and bloody bring Clara back to life after a satisfying end to her story just to shove her in a deus ex machina diner Tardis. Such a massive kick in the gut.

Joel Stevenson when you get woke you go broke. It’s happened in star wars and most modern comics. Infest your genre with political correctness (for want of a better description), poor characters and supplant the hero for the opposite sex - hey, there are loads of shit hot time ladies so why fuck with the doctor? -and you find the fans give up and the people cheering for the change walk away to find their next victim. Meantime another amazing thing has been ruined.

I was vehemently against a female doctor too (I'm female as well), but I've come to accept it. Why? Because the majority of the issues with the show come straight from Moffat and his terrible two-dimensional characters with no character traits outside of whatever stereotypical group they represent. E.g. the horrifically done Victorian lizard lady, and her Mary Sue lover, who for some reason knows martial arts. RTD made Doctor Who just as diverse if not more so. He just did it properly with well developed and flawed characters so it worked well. I personally never saw Doctor Who fans getting angry over Jack being omnisexual, or Martha being black for instance. Yet, there have been fans complaining the show is getting too PC for years now. If you've watched Broadchurch, then you'll know Chibnall is a lot more like RTD in his style then Moffat. Moffat is plot-driven and very overt in praising his writing and stirring up certain groups. Chibnall is extremely character-driven, seems like a pretty quiet, earnest guy from interviews I've seen, and loves morally grey territory. Broadchurch is perfect proof of that. It's also proof that Jodie Whittaker is a great actress and he knows how to work with her. He's also made some promising changes to the show, such as refusing to bait audiences and certain minority groups with false promises (which Moffat constantly did, and then failed to deliver), his change to the structure of the show to include more of an ensemble cast of companions which is a great idea, and Whittaker is not following down the awful path of Missy, who is there to scream she's a crazy woman. All in all, he's purposefully been very quiet in promising anything. He's basically leaving it to the audience to decide whether they like the show based on what he actually delivers to the audience. I respect that so I'm giving it a chance. Also, let's face it. The show hit rock-bottom already. It ain't going lower.

He’s going to watch Series 11. He actually went back and rewatched Series 10 and accepted that it was average. The funniest thing is, he wrote a 20000 word essay for his university course in television on how terrible Steven Moffat’s writing was, using Series 9 as an example. His result was 97.5%!

Well, I can totally see that happening. It's like everyone but Moffat and the production team knew what would make a good finale, but he decided "nope, I'm gonna publish my shitty fanfiction as the Series 9 finale and everyone will love it!" fuck Fuck FUCK *FUCK!!!*

Not to mention a Hybrid being two things goes against the meaning of Hybrid. Unless he meant the Doctor was the Hybrid and was half-human. In which case, you just annoy even more people, because everyone hated that line from the TV movie. I honestly think they want to annoy us at this point. I wonder how the Christmas special will annoy us with the First Doctor.

I'm actually looking forward to that because of how great David Bradley is as the 1st doctor.

Not gonna lie, I'm 100% against the idea behind the Christmas special, mainly because I'm fearing: 1. Moffat will probably write One as: a. A grumpy caricature that does nothing more than heckle his future self. b. A New Who Doctor [overusing sonic screwdrivers, timey-wimey shit, a catchphrase, the works]. 2. Based on the final scene of 'The Doctor Falls' I worry that Moffat will fuck around with the continuity of 'The Tenth Planet' in one way or another. 3. Him returning will take away from the fact that this will be Capaldi's last story. Albeit it is kind of poetic for the first Doctor of the new regeneration cycle to be visited by the first of the original at the end of his life, but I still think that it won't work.

Look at all the thought you had to go through to explain that shit though. You had to do RESEARCH to work it out. I was five years old, and thought Bad Wolf was amazing. It made total sense, because if it's written well, it caters to all audiences. This episode catered to Moffat. Moffat and his ego. It's just awful.

I didn't have to do research to figure it out. I just looked it up to explain it better. I know what the hybrid is, but other people don't. Series 1 is amazing, one of the best series in nuWho, but the story arc is simple. In fact all of RTD's story arc are simple and use the same principle. People complain about Moffat reusing tropes, but look at RTD just mentioning phrases in episodes until the finale. Series 1 = Bad Wolf, Series 2 = Torchwood, Series 3 = Saxon, Series 4 = The Doctor/Donna. Bad Wolf worked well because it was the first series of the new show, but by the time series 9 came around 10 years had past since then. It was right to experiment and try something new, even if it didn't work for everybody.

But it barely worked for ANYBODY. That's the problem. RTD knew what worked. He had a formula, and people loved it. Then Moffat took over, and took a different approach and people liked that too. But, Hell Bent was a total flop. He took aspects that he KNEW Who fans didn't like (such as Clara, such as him being half human. Which he isn't. That's ridiculous.) and made a whole episode about shit we DON'T like for what was not only the finale of series 9, but what we'd been building to since season 1. It was pure, pure ego on Moffats part, and one many fans won't ever forgive him for I don't think.

the sister hood are time ladies, just a different version, think time lord witches, and have different abilities, but it was established as far back as the 2nd doctor that regeneration can be chosen, they did it in war games, they gave 2nd a choice as to what his next face will be

Casual CraftMan that is a bit far, he wrote amazing episodes in his era. E.G. The Eleventh Hour, A good man goes to war, name of the doctor, day of the doctor and many more. If he stopped at Series 8 imo he was better than RTD

Wingy Media Agreed. It's not just the change of gender that annoys me, it's the constant bashing of men. As you said, this shit would never happen if the genders were reversed. Getting back to that shitty scene from that shitty moon story, could you imagine what would happen if The Doctor replied with the following line: "You hit me bitch and you'd wish that you could regenerate!"

I think everyone would support Jodie's Doctor if she doesn't break character and represents who the Doctor is, rather than the shambles of character breaking we got off Moffat.
