@@zachariousmccool5768 Ugh. That's like another reactor who got spoiled about the Cybermen being in "Dark Water" because of her streaming service's loading screen. 🙄
I love Murray Gold's music for this episode. Such a shame the soundtrack for Series 10 hasn't been released (yet), unlike those for all the previous series and specials. 😕
Teeny bit of Who history, no spoilers. Mondas was Earth's twin planet long ago, Human like people developed and advanced there long ahead of us. A 'Space Disaster' of some sort sent Mondas out of the Solar System , weakening the people and ruining the planet, they retreated underground and began 'Spare Part' surgery and organ replacement to survive ... Bit by bit, a change here , a upgrade there....and at some point their humanity was lost. But the urge to survive stayed. That's roughly it. Too often, for me, The Cybermen are shown as Robotic super droids. This is how I like them , tragic, disturbing, sad abominations held together by surgical tape and make shift technology.
It's interesting to me that people tell that about the Cybermen when a few of the Cybermen stories from series 1-4 have the Doctor beating them by making them feel their feelings, which is probably the cruellest way to do it.
the problem is that the cybermen cannot do without humans. if they were to run out of humans because they got rid of reproduction ect and the body then it would be a losing battle
I love the depiction of the mondassian Cybermen (the original version from our universe not Pete’s world) so creepy, the low tech costume just makes it even more horrifying at least the cybus ones are fully formed, these really are experiments, the fact that they still feel constant physical pain but the headset just stops them caring is pure horror.
Such an emotional story. Such a brilliant acting from all of the cast. These kind of early Cybermen are, because they're more human, even more scary than the regular ones. Thanks for a brilliant reaction and a fantastic channel.
The "Dr Who" name is a funny callback to the early epidodes of the show where in the credits, William Hartnell is billed as Dr. Who. Even in the revival, when 9 regeneates into 10, in the credits its read as "and introducing David Tennant as: Dr. Who"
I won't be the only one been keen to see you (hopefully) enjoy this ! Some of the darkest stuff in the show for a long time , the true surgical horror of the early Cybermen , fascinating Time concept, and of course Doctor Who ! Aka Missy trolling her 'companions' , and a look at just badly The Doctor can get things. I was shocked by this whole episode and loved it !
when two doctors met, they became strong, this has happened before. But for two masters to meet at the same time, this is the first time this has happened in the show.
Regarding this is not spoiler you mentioned you heard "Genesis" from an episode before i think you might be thinking of "Genesis of the Daleks" a classic Tom Baker story you reacted to awhile ago. "Genesis of the Cybemen" would had been a great title for this episode.
Hey Nicole. I love this story. "I grew up with him & his name is Doctor Who!" That fourth wall is taking a knocking. 😊 Fish shop Chips! Love a scene with chips. Like how they turning down the VOLUME of them saying pain.😮 Around a black hole, time runs faster the closer you are. From another Sci-fi "I ran straight down for twenty minutes!" "It's been 2 WEEKS since we talked!" I always wanted to see John Simm play the role more like a classic Master. Here he is - pulling a mask off.❤❤😊 Capaldi wanted to see the original non armoured Cybermen designs where they took bits off humans so this was that story.
"The Master" or "Missy" it doesn't really matter what we call them their both the same person anyway. The Cybermen you see here are not new but the original version and i believe correct me someone if i'm wrong that this is the first time in NuWho that we have the cybermen from our universe rather than the recurring parralel universe cybermen since the David Tennant era. Mondas is the Cybermen's original home planet. Unfortunately for us who watched this episode on it's original broadcast we were somewhat spoiled on John Simm's return as the Master as the typical BBC showed a clip of him in the Series 10 trailer as well as being announced on the news which ruined the suprise "reveal" as we knew Razer was the Master in disguise, actor John Simm was also not happy about the announcement of his return as he wanted to keep it a surprise.
I believe the Cybermen seen in the Series 5 finale were supposed to be from our universe, but the production team didn't seem to spot that the "C" logo on their chests derived from the Cybus Industries logo; perhaps the logo wasn't noticed, or perhaps it was noticed and just assumed to mean "Cybermen". The logo wasn't present in their subsequent appearances. I suppose it's even possible that the disappearance of the logo was intended to represent the rewriting of history in "The Big Bang". I don't know for certain what's been said in interviews or elsewhere about the origins of the Cybermen seen in Series 5-9, but you'll recall that in "Doomsday" the Cybermen from Pete's World who invaded our version of Earth were all sent back into the Void. In "The Next Doctor" the Doctor seems to say that the Cybermen in Victorian London were remnants from the Void, who'd "fallen through the dimensions, back in time"; when he defeated them again he apparently sent them into the Time Vortex, which presumably disintegrated them. The Crack then seems to have erased them from Earth's history anyway, as Amy knows nothing about their Victorian episode. When the Doctor recreated the Universe in "The Big Bang" he presumably brought back the Cybermen who'd previously existed in our reality since the time of the various classic-era Doctors who'd encountered them. I think the history of the Cybermen from our universe between the classic era and "The Pandorica Opens" may have been deliberately ignored by Steven Moffat, just like how we didn't get an explanation in "Victory of the Daleks" for the Daleks coming back. I'm sure he figured that the audience knows them as recurring villains, so it'd be boring to bother with an explanation each time. You can probably think of other examples from Who's history where the production team haven't bothered with explaining a return, or just threw in a brief line of dialogue that didn't really tell us anything!
Considering we were spoiled at the time, it's quite cathartic watching Reactors who've not had it ruined, have such fantastic reactions to such an incredible twist. I've been looking forward to this one.
Omg, I can't believe it, I was actually thinking SO much about you lately. I was thinking about writing you an email or posting another comment on an older video but I didn't want to put any needless pressure on you. Does this prove that there is a God? Idk.... 😅🤭 I don't care. I'm so glad you're okay and that you're back! Consider it a late birthday gift, because it was my birthday on Wednesday. 😇
(That being said, I notice the video from 2 weeks ago still says "Empress of Mark" instead of "Empress of MARS". I was just wondering if that was on purpose, haven't seen the video yet)
That is so strange. Tbh I have no idea why RU-vid didn´t show any of my videos to you. I´m sorry. Maybe you could click on this Bell Icon thingy, maybe that´ll help. But I´m glad, that my videos make you happy :)
Its a great pity that at the time the bbc ruined john simms ( The Master ) involvement in this season, it was rumoured by the papers then the bbc foolishly proved it to be true in the coming soon trailer for the season.....maybe to attract viewers? Anyway it was stupid. The episode itself shows the conversion process extremely well and the horror of the Cybermen which the series rarely covers. The beard the Master has is a nod to the Classic who Masters who had a beard, i think requested by Simm himself. Mondasian Cybermen are from our universe.
I knew nothing about it ! I don't know how I missed any spoilers then, but these days I avoid as much as possible, no interviews, no previews , northing at all and I enjoyed the show more than in a long time.
It was leaked to the UK, this was the time when the show still had a sort of relevance but viewers were dwindling as Moffat had driven a lot of them away. It was all done for a push for viewers. This was the start of the death of the show, only got worse and worse from here, never picked up.
@@phantomsidious2934 it just officially killed itself as soon as Moffat and capaldi. It’ll almost be 10 years since we’ve had proper, good Doctor who that was simply about the story and not pushing messages and diversity and progressiveness, series 10 started it and it’s plummeted downhill ever since
@@phantomsidious2934 the show has always been inclusive, always. From the beginning and especially since 2005 - 2017. Full of characters we adore. Anything since has been companies pretending it’s an awful white, straight, male show. This is wrong, we must correct correct correct, we’ll undo this, that, change this, change that, shoehorn this in, that in, that’ll fix it, that’ll make Twitter happy. When all you do is tell people a certain group of people is wrong, and ‘these are the groups that are right, we’ve fixed your show, that’s better’. It’s so, so tiring and patronizing, and they still can’t understand why they lost 9 million viewers since 2018.
I never really liked Simm's Master in those earlier episodes with Tennant. I could see what they were going for, and I mostly liked the idea, but either the writing or the direction or something just didn't work for me. Yet he's perfect in this episode! Worth remembering when people criticise a character and then blithely claim that it's "bad acting".
@@andrewgwilliam4831 well I'm guessing the drumming sound is no longer inside the Masters mind so his appearance in this two parter is more calm and less crazy than before, in fact we've had three versions of this Master, and each can be explained why he behaves the way he does. I prefer the classic Masters myself but at least with Simms version we can explain his crazier side.
