That 'threshold' theory you were talking about is sort of known as - according to Terry Pratchet (ie Discworld fans) - as "The Trousers of Time." You're going along with your life quite nicely, suddenley you walk through a doorway and one part of you goes down one leg and another goes down the other.

Remember when the Doctor said to the silence near the end of the episode, he wasn’t gonna let them go,it’s a nice thought but it’s not Christmas. I’m fairly certain it was foreshadowing Matt’s last episode when him and the Silence stood together to fight the DALEKS

My only complaint about this two parter is that it's a two parter. Its such a good way to resolve the Silence problem that I kind of wish they'd let it hang a while before it dropped.

The Doctor and River are meeting in reverse order. This was the first time that they kissed from his perspective and she realized that it was going to be the last time for her. That's why she was so upset.

They're meeting out of order, not completely in reverse order. And we know ** SPOILERS ** that it's not the last time for her.

One popular theory about the Sonic Screwdriver is that its psychic interface can project the tool's user-interfaces into one's mind. It could be that when the Doctor is looking at it, it's because the sonic is streaming all kinds of detailed information to them. It's been said at times on the show, to be as simple to use as "point and think".

That makes sense in terms of how the Sonic worked for Rory in S5; logically it shouldn't but this allows for The Doctor to set it so all Rory had to do was 'point and click'. I like that, kerk
