I like the subtle implication that the Gallery is, in fact, the Curator's TARDIS - it has the round things on the walls.

The "all 13" was Peter Capaldi's first time on screen as the Doctor. At that point in time, we all knew he was to be the next Doctor, but nothing else about his character.

9:44 Those scenes with Tennant, Queen Elizabeth and the Zygon were recorded in a field behind my house. The ruined tower was built as a mockup of a medieval castle in the 1780s, by a local businessman who used it for dances and banquets. I believe the BBC also used the woodland nearby, which also once belonged to the tower's owner, for the scene where the three Doctors first meet.

You missed the significance of the beginning. The sign the police was walking next to is a mirror of the opening scene of the very first episode. Coal Hill school, where Clara was teaching is the same school Susan was attending in that episode. As Clara is riding her motorcycle, she passes under a clock and the time is set to the time that the first episode originally aired, 5:16PM

I will forever be in awe of Matt's acting when he discovers the full true name of the painting. You don't realize how dull and old 11's eyes are throughout his run until that moment when they light up with joy. He looks so much younger and happier and *alive* than he has ever done before. Phenomenal

I had the great pleasure of meeting Christopher Eccleston at Galaxy Con in my state. He was so kind and just a joy to listen to. Hearing him talk about his time on the show was wonderful. When asked who was his scariest enemy, he chose the boy in The Empty Child episode.

This is why Older Elizabeth wanted to kill the Doctor when they met William Shakespear.

This is how you do a 50th Anniversary special! And when this first aired, it was simulcast in 93 countries around the world *and* shown in select cinemas. I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen (in Victoria, BC) … a packed auditorium of Whoveans, many in cosplay.

I never realized the music playing during the plan to save gallifrey was later used for "Heaven Sent."

I love watching people reacting to this episode almost as much as I enjoyed seeing it for the first time. When Tom Baker says "you know I really think you might" my heart stops. He wouldn't appear in a much earlier anniversary edition because it was too soon after his own stint so having him in this one was the best thing ever for me. And yes I am very old.......

Tom Baker's scene always makes me cry. He was my Doctor when I was a kid.

Remember seeing this in the cinema back in '13, and when Tom Baker's voice boomed out for the first time I have distinct memories of me - and about thirty people around me - bursting into literal tears, we were so happy and emotional :')

Being an old school Who Fan this has so many nods to the full 50 year history of the show. I cried so hard when Tom showed up at the end.

Steven Moffat is on record as saying during the lead up to and after the 50th this was a time he cannot look back on fondly as the pressure was soul destroying. He of course was happy with the reception it got in the end but the stress of writing it and preparing it was not a happy time. At one stage only Jenna Coleman was contracted for it (Matt wasn't signed on to do it) and an early idea of Steven's was a story of jumping back in time and super imposing old footage like "Name Of The Doctor" & Clara racing to save the Doctor. Steven wanted Chris to come on board and play 9 but Chris politely declined and the role of "The War Doctor" was born but even a few weeks before production they still had no actor to play him. The story goes that while casting a suggestion was made that it should be a John Hurt of an actor & it just dawned on them, fuck it lets ask him. God bless him for saying yes (in his words as soon as he said yes it was a very quick turnaround) and what a performance, what an actor. R.I.P Great episode, I saw this in the cinema in 3D and I felt so proud!! ❤

It's funny how blown your mind is by this. For us DW fans, seeing 3 Doctors working together is something that goes back 40 years before this episode.
