I love how many questions are raised in this two-parter. 1. Who is in the spacesuit at Lake Silencio? 2. Why does the astronaut shoot the Doctor? 3. Why does the Doctor let himself get shot? (It's clear older-Doctor knew this would happen ahead of time.) 4. Who is River Song? 5. Why is River in prison? (She could just escape and leave permanently.) / Whom did she kill? 6. How does the girl in 1969 relate to the events in 2011? 7. Who is the "eyepatch lady" (later named Madame Kovarian) whom Amy sees briefly? 8. Who are the Silence? / What is their ultimate goal? 9. What does "Silence will fall" actually mean? 10. Is Amy actually pregnant? 11. Why doesn't the TARDIS sensor clearly report whether Amy is pregnant? 12. Who is the little girl? / How can she regenerate? It's funny that some reactors easily figure some parts of this out when they watch Day of the Moon, and some don't, and some think they have things figured out but are horribly wrong.

Every Halloween that I don't have a planned costume, I just cover myself in tick marks and go as someone running from the Silence. This year was epic because a small child of about four saw me walking home from the store, tugged on their parental unit's hand and shouted from the porch, "Silence will fall!" Yeah, one of the bags of candy I had just picked up did not make it to the bowl. I gave that sprogling the whole bag.

In its long history a lot of DW monsters are silly, but the silents (silence?) are proper scary. They're the stuff of nightmares. Megan, you are quite prescient! You should be a writer!

Watching the episode back all the clues are mainly there to who the little girl is. At time of airing I was so cough up in the story I didn't pick up on it. Just shows how good the show was at hiding ester eggs and clues in plain sight. Me, and my mate worked it out a little later. Now I rewatch very carefully to see what I missed. Another great reaction, well it was bound to be when the pillow cane out 😀

But, does Megan remember why the pillows had to come out?

I've never quite understood the first kiss/last kiss part ...River didn't know her own future and the Doctor could never have told her how many times they'll ever kiss because the last time he met her he'd never seen her before!?
