Yes, the line "Would you like a Jelly Baby?" was the voice of the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker. But he wasn't the only nod to classic Doctors. Before that, he says some other classic lines (but in his own voice) "I shall come back. Yes, one day." - First Doctor, William Hartnell "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!" - Third Doctor, Jon Pertwee
@@coladict Likewise, I think people forget that offering Jelly Babies actually started with the Second Doctor. Can't remember exactly when that started, though.
I like how this episode features a twist involving a Ganger replicating it’s original’s clothes with the Doctors switching shoes, and then ends with the reveal that Amy, who has been wearing the same outfit all season up until this point, is also a Ganger. The Doctor having ulterior motives for taking his companions on the specific adventures he takes them on is interesting, too, I’m a big fan of it.
Part 1 is a solid episode, but the cliffhanger can be spotted coming from a long way. Part 2 manages to sustain the tension effectively - but the cliffhanger completely blindsided me when I first watched it! Altogether,I find the ganger story considerably more watchable than most, and feel its somewhat underrated...but,yes - that part 2 cliffhanger :) Good luck with your move, btw.
Great reaction as always, was waiting to see your reaction to the final reveal! Matt, Karen and Arthur really acted their heart out in those final few scenes and it only gets better next episode!
You: Wow, what a big reveal! The next episode: Hold my beer. As for the existential question you asked - what are we if not the sum of our memories? If the flesh dad has the same memories and experiences as the real dad, then he's equally valid as the real dad. He's learned the same things in the same way. That makes him real. This is similar to the Star Trek transporter question - technically, your body is destroyed each time you use it. Are you the same person when you materialise, or is that the start of something new?
19:27 "You could go all the way back to Day of the Moon". Yes, indeed. In fact, Amy in this episode is wearing the same clothes she wore in 6x1, which are apparently flesh-made clothing. How convenient that she put that outfit back on :) That implies she's replaced *before* her kidnapping, either in DC or even in Utah before they went to 1969. The swap also explains why the pregnancy scanner kept oscillating at the end of 6x2 and 3: real-Amy was pregnant but Ganger-Amy wasn't. The idea of the Flesh is an interesting one. My main issue with this two-parter is that the final 60 seconds kind of overshadow all of the rest of the it.
God imagine not having any idea what’s going on and then you suddenly wake up and have to give birth And you didn’t have to worry about the next time all this episode had was the dramatic stolen earth ‘to be continued’ text
And... You was right about Amy-flesh! So, can't wait for your reaction to the next episode. I think, it's gonna just *BLOW* your mind! _To me, the next episode is the best in series!_ (Sorry for my bad English if smth wrong)
Not my favorite two parter but the plot twist and cliffhanger at the end of this one is so surprising and perfectly done! We think the Doctors swapping shoes was the twist but no then the flesh tells Amy to push and then we find out she is flesh Phenomenally done. Next episode is just fantastic 😍
When I first watched that I guessed correctly that they would switch shoes. I did not, however guess that Amy would be a ganger. And that final scene is still traumatizing to this day.
I know you have not seen classic who but out of curiosity did you ever look at all the past doctors just to see what they look like, same with the tardis have you seen the classic tardis interiors?
I love the ending. It does somewhat overshadow what has come before but I still think the episode is decent. One issue is the fact that the writers perhaps can't quite decide how they feel about the gangers or the tone of the episode. Are they real people who deserve to be treated as such? Are they just copies? Who do you root for? Of course, that ambiguity could be deliberate. The way Jennifer is such a revolutionary and so militant was a bit jarring. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it overall. Throughout the episode I was wondering whether you would figure it out the ending in advance and so lose the impact. So I am glad you got it the wrong way round! Now, brace yourself for the next episode! Oh boy!
