Niteshift “A Good Man Goes to War” is probably my favorite episode to watch reactions for. The look on people’s faces at the end is always priceless.

@@darthmuppet I'm always surprised nobody guessed it. I twigged the moment Amy said her baby was called Melody a few minutes in. I was still on the edge of my seat when they did the reveal, though. Matt Smith is phenomenal in that whole sequence.

@@Helbore I got spoiled by leaks on that before the season started. It just got into my news feed and there was no way to read even the title and not get spoiled.

@@Helbore First time was fun but Moffat just loooves to do the same thing over and over again. He reused that idea of playing with names in later seasons and the effect just wasn't the same.

@@HudsonMedia Well they showed he was suspicious of her ever since the second episode this season. One of the main clues shown was that the TARDIS couldn't figure out if she was or wasn't pregnant that episode, plus The Doctor didn't believe her when she said she was wrong. They could have shown more clues, but they did set up his mistrust of her these last 6 episodes

I miss this.... I mean people asking too many questions about the show and wanting answers thrown at them are why Series 11 is such an expositional bland mess.... it's 10 minutes adventure with 40 minutes explaining everything going on XD

Harry Hudson I think because the Tardis couldn’t recognise she was pregnant, the Doctor would’ve tried to understand how there could be a possible fake Amy. Not a doppleganger but a fake Amy then he discovers that in this century, dopplegangers are a thing and the signal the Tardis detects from Amy is similar to the readings that is around the flesh factory so the Doctor investigates. It’s only complicated if you over think it. “The Doctor had concerns because of the inconsistent pregnancy scans which led him to believe she was a fake, so he found this place and investigated” some things shouldn’t be explained... just hinted at.

I remember getting a nightmare of the stretched-out Ganger!Jennifer back when this came out..

Those were two different things. The flesh we saw in the episode prior to the Amy reveal were fully functioning people, a separate biological being. The flesh-Amy was only an avatar made from the same material as the gangers but directly linked to the original Amy's mind. The Doctor didn't kill Amy, he just cut off the connection between Amy and the avatar. They certainly didn't explain that well enough though.

@@billyshearer117 Ganger Amy wasn't sentient. It was just an avatar for real Amy. That's like claiming your Animal Crossing character has a right to live.

@@billyshearer117 ganger amy wasn't affected by the solar storm the same way the others were, so she had no independent thoughts or feelings. the doctor dissolved her in a way so she wouldn't be conscious after breaking the link, like the other flesh was.

@@static2735 Wrong, the Doctor didn't Dissolve her, he said it himself in the episode. The Tardis brought him to that place, to have enough information to block the SIGNAL to the Flesh 22:45 The signal was cut, THAT is what 'dissolved' the flesh, as without a Signal, it had no form to take. To put it into perspective, it's like having a Movie Stream from Computer A, to Computer B. You cut the internet connection, and what happens? Computer A goes on, Computer B the movie Stops, gives and error, and no longer loads the page and isn't a movie anymore but an error code. The 'Flesh' wasn't Sentient in any form, it was a different version of the Flesh.

@@stankey69 Honestly some fans just i feel take a couple negatives in a story and run with it to make it appear like it's the worst thing ever..... Weird Series 6 was nearperfect IMO and i adored this two parter... so many incredible concepts and I dunno.... the cgi/effects etc looks a lot cleaner and ambitions higher than the quality we have now funny enough. Brilliant and chills with that cliffhanger.

It’s worth noting that she was wearing her Lake Silencio shirt in this episode. Apparently, she was wearing the same clothes all series this far, but I’d have to go check that. It definitely happened sometime between _A Christmas Carol_ and _The Impossible Astronaut._

Ismaeel the finale was simply closure. No big fighting or ought. Just a conclusion to an arc. That’s why it felt underwhelming. But really it’s true Master class

Silver Screen not even close Series 6 is fantastic however series 4, series 3, series 5, and series 10 are all superior

Understandable reaction, but I think you misunderstood the ending of the episode. ganger!Amy is not an independent, conscious entity like the Flesh people we saw in the episode. She was just a lifeless avatar being remotely controlled by Amy's mind. The reason why the Flesh people were sentient was because the gamma blast disconnected the link between the real people and the Flesh, which allowed the gangers to develop their own consciousness. As the Doctor said: "It would seem the storm has animated your Gangers." Presumably, without the storm, those gangers would not have been "animated". Plus, it is stated that the version of the "Flesh" used in the episode was an early, imperfect version. I think we can safely assume that the version of the "Flesh" used on Amy is a newer, non-buggy version.

​@@stephan8573 That would definitely make the ending less upsetting, if that's the case. It's been a long time since I've seen the full episodes though, but... I don't believe the sentience just came from the storm. There's a lot of emphasis in the episodes about previous gangers -- ones left half-melted and still conscious, ones who died with pain in their eyes, questioning why this was happening to them. All melted well before the storm, right? To me that implies that they always had their own consciousness; the storm just animated them and gave them the power to move on their own and fight back. Plus the ending -- the whole idea of the remaining Gangers going to back to their headquarters and "revealing the truth" about the Flesh to humanity... that's only relevant if the Flesh is actually sentient and they want to start a sort of revolution for Ganger rights. But if they're just a freak accident born from very specific circumstances (the storm) then there's nothing to really reveal or fight for. I hope you're right, but I feel like the Gangers (and/or the Flesh) always had a sentience, and clearly felt pain when being destroyed. It feels like a very confused message to spend two episodes establishing them as things with emotions, sentience, and rights, and then immediately flip and have the Doctor destroy one.

@@rachelr4126 You're absolutely right about the two episodes' message being a very confused one, and I definitely see where you're coming from. To me, what it comes down to is that one of two things must be right: Either the Doctor acted like a complete monster at the end of the episode (with no reasonable justification and completely out of character), or there is some difference between the mechanisms behind the Gangers we saw in the episode and ganger!Amy but the writers did a poor job in explaining that difference and making it clear to the audience. To me, the second possibility is a bit more palatable, so that's what my "headcanon" is, but they are both plausible.
