Doctor Who: Sarah Sutton, Matthew Waterhouse and Terry Molloy interviewed! 

I was the VT engineer who recorded Adric's death. What went out was take two. The first attempt was clearly a shock for Mathew as the computer packed a bigger bang than he was expecting. I thought it was brilliant, but production wanted more dynamism from the Cyberman, so it was reshot. If you watch it knowing Mathew knows it's going to explode a lot, you can see it is already charred and Adric is standing as far back from it as he can get. He is poking at the keyboard rather than typing on it. Sadly, take one never got copied. I didn't know that was 'it' for Adric at the time, but I got a good idea when the closing titles were recorded - in silence. I called the studio to report 'the fault' and was told that was deliberate. I didn't tell anyone - not a word for decades, now I don't shut up about it !

Sarah was meant to be at our local convention this year - hoping she can make it next year

Love Matthew and Adric, connected to him right away in the the show, saw the first part of KEEPER out of order and that was the first time I saw Adric and Matthew and myself in DW! Matt's wrong: the jelly babies were still in DW in season 17

I always liked Adric -- after TNG came out, he was unfavorably compared to sort of the Wes Crusher of Doctor Who, but he was such a perfect arrogant foil to Wesley, who was written to be much more insipid than he should have been. Adric OTOH was written to be an unapologetic pain in the ass, which was far more interesting and fun.
