Thanks, Andrew! ⏳ I loved this episode. As far as the numbering system... IMDb has the holiday special listed as s1e0 so this one would be s1e2... not sure why Disney+ is categorizing them differently. But the episodes are just as interesting, I say. 🔸 As for the twist in the end (not just of the episode, but of the season)... I could give you a hint, but to British viewers, it's more obvious. It's to do with a real world last name of the performer of a recurring enigma.
Embarrassingly, this is one of those situations where I still had to look it up and then I felt stupid. 🤣 I should have caught that one. But, admittedly, she is not as well known to American viewers. I am looking forward to seeing how they tie the mystery surrounding her together in the end. Thanks for commenting and watching!
According to *most* sources, & all tv appearances, what we know is that Susan & the Doctor refer to each as each other as grandfather/granddaughter. No reason to assume they are anything else. …however, there were some novels (ahem, ‘Lungbarrow’) that said Time Lords were formed via ‘looming’. It’s not my favourite of the extended universe theories, but I honestly believe that (for me) all of Doctor Who is canonical, so somewhere out there is a version of the Doctor/Susan who were loomed. To be contrary, I pick the Peter Cushing Doctor and a fan film version of Susan, because I’m not a fan of looms. Also, remember when 12 explained the bootstrap paradox to us whilst playing the guitar? Music & 4th wall breaks go well together for certain regenerations!
Certainly interesting. I’m sure there’s a lot of EU stuff I’m not familiar with. The Peter Cushing movies are still on my list. Along with a lot of Doctor Who audiobooks and comics. I think what was wondering is who are Susan’s parents and who did the Doctor have children with to start that family. Don’t know if they ever addressed that somewhere.
My guess is the banishment chord undid the summoning right back to the moment the chord was played. It's never stated it works like that but it makes the most sense in context of the show.
That makes a lot of sense. Doctor Who does play pretty loose with things like that. But that's one of the things I like about it. They keep the focus on the fun and emotion of the story, rather than getting weighed down by details. Thanks again for your comment and for watching!
