My word, some updated effects are definitely an improvement.

These are some of the best replacements in the DVD range, honestly. I still don't understand why they thought the tin foil was a good idea. Anything would have been better!

I'm probably the only person who likes the Vardans in their tin foil greatness.

These are some good Updated Effects. They update on everything that looks poor but not too much that it looks distracting

I kinda wish they waited until 2010, and then they could’ve made the demat gun effects resemble those from Rassilon’s demat glove.

I always liked the principal of redoing the Vardans, but even at the time I wasn't convinced 2008 DVD-budget CGI was there. They need to be much more detailed and have a defined shape. Maybe they could revist them for the Blu-ray, budget-conscious CGI has come along way since then.

These effects are beautiful, vardans look way more menacing/powerful and the weapon blast effects are much cleaner although a tad too bright in some scenes; I definitely don’t remember the 2008 DVD looking this clean/HD though 😆

Have you got the Season 24 blu ray box set yet? I’m curious to see the new effects on Time & The Rani.

Pisses me off to no end when fans say Troughton had tin foil monsters when they clearly forgot this story! 😅

Did they fix those dreadful corridors and he public swimming pool from the final episode. For me they were the most embarrassing sets in the entire history of Dr. Who?

Excellent effects update. The Vardan voices are terrible. Need to be replaced by an alien language or voice effects. Who would have thought Bacofoil had the potential to catch the Time Lords out

I can now watch "The Invasion of Time" and not feel the need to bake a potato... Wait... tin foil... potato-headed Sontarans... it was all a plot to make us hungry!

Pretty good. The original model shots were very decent here in fact. I like that these new FX are mostly enhancements of the originals not replacements. The only slight quibble I have is the new D-Mat gun effect which I think looks a bit too 'modern'. The ridiculous tin foil Vardans were a real disaster so almost anything is an improvement. Sadly you can't replace the laughable dematerialised Vardans

Visual effects is like makeup, use it sparingly. If you use too much, you end up looking like a clown. These effects are too bright, covering up alot of the scene. Needs to be toned down a little, Like staring into the sun, little.

I don't like how the vardans look in either version tbh

The usual range of Awesome! to Why would they do that? K9’s laser, gun lasers, Vardans (of course, when your effect is shaking sheets of aluminum foil, only way to goi is up!) but then other effects are just ridiculously overdone and obscure the action. Effects should enhance or help tell the story, convey meaning that otherwise might not be clear to the viewer, but they should never get in the way or hide what is happening!. The coronet of Rassilon - they went so FX heavy that you can barely see the lights on it, way too much. Leela discovering Rodman’s force field - she’d hardly need to feel for it if it was so freaking obvious as the added overdone red - a subtle shimmer would have been far more effective. The art gallery in the TARDIS interior - the original fade was more effective than the “hey what’s this effect do?” Look of the new version. Its like they get the pros to do the good stuff but then decide you cant see the changes enough (FTR, the best effects are the ones you dont realize are effects!) and thus let interns loose who have zero experience and no concept of the phrase “less is more” & do not comprehend subtlety. They either hit you over the head with the FX or dial everything up to 11 and paint on high pressure. Take it easy guys!!

Better effects won't improve the fact this story is a drag
