A giant alien jet robot that is armed to the teeth, with a millennia of war time experience, and commands an armada of the decepticon seekers. Is disarmed by 1 tiny rock boi
@@RDSArcade Can one of you at least tell of how in the living SPARK was Starscream able to get brought back from the dead as a ghost?! A FRAGGING GHOST?!!!
Starscream: “Who disrupts my coronation?!” Galvatron: “Coronation, Starscream? This is bad comedy.” Starscream: “Megatron? Is that you?” Galvatron: “Here’s a hint!” *(*transforms and incinerates Starscream*)*
On another note at 5:38 old Screamer was supposed to be electrocuted buy ‘the cage’ but the animators forgot to put it in, so he’s just standing there screaming like a petulant child, which in all honesty works so much better.
I like to think all of the other Decepticons get really uncomfortable and awkward whenever Megatron and Starscream get into one of their domestic disputes.
If you look in the background, you do actually see that. They're just too fragging TERRIFIED of Megatron to make him stop. Also, you can see the Seekers helping each other in background after battle, fixing wings and arms and such.
@@dahoomancentipee9461This is something I’ve noticed in quite a few of the Transformers shows. Throughout the entirety of the shows, Soundwave just does his job. He’s focused on what needs to be done, says what needs to be said and sends his minions to do small tasks. He’s overall pretty serious all the time. But there’s always at least one moment where he lets loose a tiny bit or does something that seems abnormal for someone like him to do. Like in Transformers: Prime, he’s silent through the whole show. He’s always working or on some sort of mission whenever he gets screen time. There’s only one moment in the entire show where he lets loose. This is when he gets captured by the Autobots. He remixes Optimus’s voice, blasts loud noises and proclaims his superiority. Even the Michael Bay movies do this. Throughout all his appearances in the second and third movie, only once does he show that he’s having a good time during the failed execution scene (R.I.P. Soundwave).
The voice director, the late Wally Burr, was notorious for being a perfectionist. The recording sessions for an episode of Transformers, G.I. Joe, Jem, and My Little Pony could last up to 8 hours, as opposed to the regular 2, which is the standard time for voice recording on other shows. Guy made sure everyone gave it their all.
@@PunishedVenomDrake Paid off in the quality, and paid off in changing the laws on how long a director is allowed to pull that shit on his voice actors
Starscream to do list: 1. Complain 2. Try to shoot megatron and miss 3. Yell as loud as he can 4. Say “get this thing off me” 5. Pretend to be important
Soundwave rarely laughs in general, regardless of series. Meanwhile Megatron laughs constantly in every episode. Then again, many villains are so focused on their missions and destroying their enemies, and as a result they just have such little time for humor.
I started really liking Starscream after being assigned to play as him in an RPG. Getting into his mindset and experiences were mindblowing, he's a clever existentialist-opportunist to whom traditional heroism just means getting killed - after all, he's not a goliath who can take hits.
He's a scientist, not a warrior. Megatron is basically a gladiator, and in some universes he even was one. Starscream wasn't always like this, per say. He used to work very closely with Skyfire, after all. And deep down, he does still consider him an old friend of his. Starscream is fragile, being the seeker that he is. Most of the jets are pretty fragile, but Starscream is also a good mate to his trine. The others he flies in formation with are Skywarp and Thundercracker, and they take care of their own. After most battles you can see them in the background as Megatron vents and they're fixing each other's wings or arms and such. Starscream also doesn't have weapons. He has null rays, which function the same as an EMP basically. They stop electronics and... Nullify you lol. Very useful in a lab setting but not the best in a field. You can easily tell he wasn't made for battle. Just from the way he carries himself too. Starscream is very opportunistic, egotistical, and scientifically far more intelligent than any of the other Decepticons, save for maybe Shockwave. Not constructively of course, but he has the big brains. Only problem, is it's only scientific. His field knowledge is remarkably limited and his tactical knowledge even less so. The difference between him and Megaton not only is the field experience and basic programming, but the fact Megatron is able to tactically plan attacks and prolong things if it means it'll better their cause in the longrun. Starscream jumps on literally every opportunity, but if it's a sciency scenario (such as when he tests energon for stability) then he does take a little time. He enjoys running tests and proving himself right. Megatron keeps him as his second in command not only for his amusement, but because he knows his replacement would likely be more competent in what Starscream could not do; overthrow him. I love Starscream as they added some serious depth to him. I also like Soundwave because of just the stark contrast of their personalities. Soundwave always was cool to me, I love his concept as a whole. Tapedeck and cassettes. I commend you on being able to play his role, it's always fun to get in touch with such iconic and quirky characters. I believe Starscream's betrayals stem from him just wanting others to appreciate him and the work he does. Everyone should take his orders and follow him so he can advance his goals. It really got to his head to the point he literally made himself a cape and crown to symbolize his "coronation". I'm just sad it was ended so soon. I understand the creators thought the kids would love it because it was like getting rid of the old toys for the line of new ones they wanted people to love too. But it just hit different because they made them *alive*. And the creators did admit they felt a little bad after the backlash from angry parents saying this made them and their kids cry, but hey. Can't win em all. They brought him back as a ghost, they have plenty of comics, and I never threw my old toys out so to me he was always somewhere at least. Props to good characters that are remembered for years. Thanks for keeping the legacy alive and if you read all this that's cool too Long story short, I like old Screamer too bro have a nice day 🖖
@@kittensoundwave3480 That's a great analysis, I've never actually looked into him that much or thought of him that way. It's not that I didn't know he was a scientist- I actually liked that part of him, especially during the introduction of Skyfire, I liked them as friends- but I've always thought he's gotten rid of those days of research, well, I was always shocked, I'd be surprised that he anylized a thing and was concerned about some stuff, but not to that sciency extent, I just thought it was a useful quirk back from his old career. I also thought that he constantly screams (he rarely talks normally in my opinion) about and tries to overthrow Megatron because he lusts for more status as being a second-in-command is not enough for him. I've never seen him having the sciency personality and just seen him as this; a whiny, failure, clumsy, funny, desperate and an idiotic Decepticon. Not one transformer have I thought to match his personality. As how Megatron is amused by his every downfall, so am I. I've never thought of him as cool, I mean, he has his own definetion of cool. Cool like Soundwave (I must admit, I agree on you with Soundwave, I liked him more for his cool voice, the other things I liked him for are his loyalty, concept of having minions and transforming into a tape recorder because everyone else was tactical vehichles, and intelligence), of course, Starscream doesn't have most of those traits but he's still cool, just not in a memorable way because he ends up helping the Autobots more than the Decepticons. Well, after thinking about it for a while I guess he isn't that cool after all, he isn't caring about his comrades, only when he's in trouble, and he isn't tactical like you said. I guess he's only cool because of his personality and for being smart, and I never thought he was smart until I read this! Your analysis is amazing in my opinion, either that or I'm an idiot for not noticing this deeper personality of Starscream. And also one last thing before I go, I've always thought that Starscream was always capable of fighting, seeing his spirit of screaming. He's always finding an oppurtunity to gun down any Autobot- even though that's a duty of a Decepticon, he's a little too sadistic when it comes to ideas and he doesn't think things through so he fails in the end. But as you said, he wasn't fit to be a soldier. It also leads me to, Desertion of the Dinobots Pt. 2. Swoop, Spike and Carly found this short documentary about the war between Decepticons and Autobots, a key sentence I noticed was that, not any Cybertronian was fit for battle, so they had to modify their transformations into something warfare-like and tactical. It just raises my curiousity about somethings but maybe, there's a reason for it and I'm just stupid. Again, this is dumbfounding, thanks for the elaboration, have a great rest if your day great person on the internet!
I still don’t know why thundercraker and skywarp would betray there own seeker (I don’t know if he is the commander of the seekers) But..I guess this is G1, they had a story, they had everything (mabye not everything)
6:25 Starscream: "DEVASTATOR DEVASTATOR HELP!" Devastator: *shoots Starscream* This is why Starscream has been my favourite since I was a kid. Its just too funny watching him get shat on by literally everyone 😂
He took a lot of abuse, but he Never. NEVER stopped flapping that lip. Not even DEATH could shut him up. We all acknowledge Starscream for being True to himself at all times.
3:41 "The most important thing is that I get what I deserve! And I always do!" Megatron, honey, there are some sentences that a villain should stay far, far away from - and that was one of them.
Quotes like that didn’t stop Beast Machines Megatron from wiping out Cybertron, rebuilding it to his own image and building Vehicons to replace the citizens in roughly a single day.
i love the way he goes from smug arrogant taunts to sniveling cowardice in 1 second flat every time he is shot at, punched, tackled, grabbed, threatened, or looked at sternly.
+Big Core Mk X I was in daycare while my mom worked (I was maybe 7) and one kid was talking to his friend and then he yelled:YOU FAIL ME YET AGAIN STARSCREAM! XD I loved that kid
From what I understand, Starscream is the type who would stab you in the back the moment you turn away from him, while Megatron is the type who would stab you in the front and _tell_ you he's going to do so beforehand.
In Barricade's words in the first movie's Decepticons DS game: "Starscream is the type to kill you in your sleep. Megatron would have the ball bearings to do it to your face."
Starscream would stab you in the back, then you would turn around to question why the hell he'd do that- Just for him to be whistling and looking in another direction. Then you'd turn around again, and get stabbed.. Again
Megatron and galvatron were different bots in the idw comics and megatron heard that galvatron took his place and said galvatron the crazy megatron was always smart strong and is what a deception is meant to be
@@yougottrolled5799 okay but at the beginning megatron tore down the Senate and imased the masses and killed a prime sentinel prime and optimus prime autobots pose a struggle but really megatron got what he wanted that idw megatron
You know it’s sad, even when Starscream tries to do something good, Megatron gets pissed at him, while Soundwave gets praise, when usually it’s pretty much the cassettes doing the job.
If I remember correctly one of the few times he actually did was he was meant to, Megatron got upset at him for something Starscream didn’t even know about. I can’t remember how, but he ended up damaging his vocals to the point he couldn’t talk. No wonder why he doesn’t even bother…
Starscream in general: Schemes behind Megatron’s back to one day overthrow him so that he can lead the Decepticons but is both clever and a coward and would never challenge Megatron openly. Megatron suspects Starscream’s motives but decides to keep his enemies close and terminate Starscream if he ever becomes a serious threat and keep him around for as long as he’s useful. Starscream in the original G1: Openly screams in Megatron’s face that he intends to betray him and repeatedly, insults, defies, and outright attacks and attempts to kill him in front of the others whilst being utterly useless and Megatron just puts up with this.
Megatron's tolerance of Screamer's rebellion cost him in the movie. Starscream finally made sure on his word of terminating Megatron...short lived, but he did it.
@@XiaoFury Both Starscream and Megatron are annoying in this. For one thing whenever Megatron decides to do what it is any future version of him would have done within minutes of having this Starscream in his gang and kill him, Starscream starts whining “No Megatron, I’m too valuable to you!” despite being a complete milestone and probably more of a hindrance than the Autobots! Then there’s his whole “Megatron has a cough! I Starscream am now your leader!” schtick. Seriously, stfu Starscream. That said, it’s still very funny.
That’s why I prefer the Unicron trilogy starscream. Armada starscream actually wanted to earn his place as leader in a fair battle against megatron and only turned against megatron after being left to die on the battlefield and after putting up with constant abuse from megatron. Cybertron starscream combined the best aspects of armada starscream and original starscream, he was a very capable fighter and wanted to overthrow megatron but was smart enough to plot in secret and not spring his plan early
God, I love Starscream so fricken much. His character is a perfect example of how to make a good shitty character. He is so goddam pathetic and childish it makes him an absolute joy to watch him get his shit beat in over and over. He's great, I wish the other shows kept this style of his character more often and more consistently.
@marcuslouissaint1836 You're not wrong their. Vegeta always acts like he's the best, but at the end of the day, he's (at most) second best lol. He often does get "put in his place," so to speak.
"i will win at any cost, even if it means terminating you, Starscream!" considering how he feels about Starscream, isn't that a bit like saying "i will win at any cost, even if it means eating a bowl of yummy ice cream!!"
5:13 “She’s not so hot!” “She’s hot enough to replace _you_ whenever I choose!” Sounds like a squabble between a jerkass boyfriend and his desperate girlfriend.
Plot Twist: Starscream has always been piloted by Cobra Commander hidden in the cockpit. Hence the voice, and the ambition to overthrow Megatron as supreme leader.
...And then in..either IDW or Dreamwave's GI Joe/Transformers crossover (the same one that had Optimus as a HISS Tank), CC turns Screamer into a Night Raven Jet and uses him as his personal ride. :-) To much snide commentary from Megatron, who's frozen in pistol form at the time.
IDW actually made it a plot point. Whether he deserved it or not, Megatron really did take out his frustratons on Starscream, and it seems like that's the only reason he never got rid of the guy. It frames Starscream's motivations for turning against Megatron in a new light. I love how all the characters there evolved, and in the end, both Megatron and Starscream found peace.
@@GlitchanBlack Oh, you mean… *Never?* Then again, we all know there are a few series that don’t involve Starscream. (Namely RID 2001 and Beast Machines)
Honestly, I think Megatron only keeps Starscream for amusement at his expense. I think Megatron even has a special setting on his Fusion Cannon to dish out the right amount of physical punishment short of permanent damage.
What’s even more absurd is that they’re physically strong enough to attack him, even though Starscream can move giant boulders and smash apart fighter jets with his bare hands.
@@darthsol658 Thank you, when I become leader, you will be my second in command! Oh, wait.... right, I only become leader for 17 seconds before dying.... GREAT.
This relationship was so damn toxic. I'm glad that Megatron figured out how awful he was being and left Starsceam, because Starscream would've never left
*Megatron REALLY should have put a “No-Shooting-Zone” sign on the thing or something.* I think Starscream was aiming at Gears and missed, which nearly triggered an explosion from the device Megatron built
