I have very faint memories of my fathers nova but I never quite forgot the rumble of the exhaust. I purchased a v6 because I needed to have something that would link me to those times. I just sold my v6 to a relative and got a hold of a 18 v8. No joke, the nostalgia has had me driving it around like a child. The rumble. I love it. No knock on the v6 but I have done enough research to know that there are mods available to make your v6 sound like a savage. Its great to see the era of muscle car make a comeback. The streets are alive again.
I owned 2 Mustangs a V-6's a 2006 which had a great leather interior and the 2013 which had the base interior but a much stronger 305 V-6. I also once owned a 1976 Pontiac Firebird 400 V-8 with only 180HP factory HP none of these cars while nice takes me back to my 1969/70 senior year in high school where my friends had 383 Road Runners, Nova SS 440 GTX's 289 Mustangs, etc. Now I own a 2019 5.7 RT Challenger which has the exact sound feel and pull of the late 1960s early 70's it is a true time machine but with modern updates and decent gas mileage.
I love my RT Plus Shaker in a 6 speed... Amazing, authentic muscle car driving experience with modern refinements. You can't beat the theatre of any Trim of V8 Challenger IMO
all new ones will have to have back up cams by law so they went all out on the screen to a 8.4 I think on the 2020 line of all Auto's for sale in the US.
@@dennmartin6736, I’m looking around here in 2024. The SXT, GT and R/T standard models have 7” screens, the SCT Plus, GT Plus and R/T Plus models have an 8” screen. Everything above the R/T (T/A, Hellcat, etc) have 8” screens as standard.
I had a 2018 SXT white knuckle Challenger with a Borla Atak cat back exhaust system for a few months and sold it for a 2020 Octane Red Blacktop PKG R/T. I'm happy 😊
Interesting! I own a 2011 with the Pentastar V6 and my exhaust sounds a bit more bass than that at idle. Love the car and yes, have gotten a number of nice comments over the years. Interesting enough, Challengers are considered full size cars due to their dimensions as opposed to the Camaro and Mustang. It’s literally the last full size two door rear wheel drive car you can get today in the US.
I have a 2019 5.7 Challenger the active exhaust is fantastic the cold start sound alone is worth the price of the car everything also 1st car I every owned with performance pages which was a nice surprise.
Yeah even the pipes on the older SRT8 isn't great, and was one of the first mods that I did on my Challenger when I got it. They are not only restrictive, they are also heavy and is the last thing that they need. Those huge suitcase style resonators are ridiculous, and the new system thankfully deletes them. Basically consists of 3" with open chamber racing bullets and is almost like straight piping, but better because of the increased diameter and flow so much better than stock
first came the spelling nazis, but they got bored. then came the grammar nazis, kelsey was proud. now we have the unit nazis, mostly because theirs are so small.
Attention: On the R/T shaker yea u get the cold air intake however it does nothing to get more Hp. Also the 5.7 V8 Hemi comes standard on the R/T, you dont need a shaker to get that, it comes stock as long as its a R/T
DOCUDRAMA the shaker is a kit which improves cold air density in the intake. It does improve horsepower by a little not by much. It works better on carbureted setups. The shaker is a package of the r/t
Great Video man, Ive been looking for contrast and comparison videos on the Challenger. break down the Trims for us one or two at a time like this in a series and we'll be Challenger experts when youre done
I've noticed that the 2014 Challenger SXTs sound better than the 2015+ exhaust. The 2015+ sound more tin can-ish and the 2014s are a bit deeper. It's most likely the fake exhaust tips on the 2015+
Funny how? Funny like I'm a clown? I amuse you? Im here to fuckin amuse you? How da FUCK am I FUNNY? Tips do not effect sound until you get into depth of the tip which does not change on either.
Yeah unfortunately because they don't use lumpy cams in them these days, the Shakers don't shake much and barely move. So they are void of any shimmy action going on, and would be cool to see one if somebody added a cam to their car. The exhaust on the new ones are so much nicer than the older set up, and replaced the ones on my Challenger from the cat's back with SLP loudmouth 1s. Which basically consists of 2 super loud open chamber racing bullets on 3" pipe and allows for reso delete, so it's basically like straight piping them except better because of the increased diameter. They sound amazing and are menacing as hell
The02CumminsRAM You must drive like a maniac lol. My mom's '15 Charger V6 has averaged 34 before. Then again, she kinda baby's it and that's no fun haha.
My 2017 Challenger rt gets between 23 to 25 on average. My best was a 188 mile round trip to Oklahoma. I averaged 27 mpg. Speed limit was 75 mph. My 2012 Challenger SXT would average around 25 to 28. I am happy with the Hemi.
I bought my 2017 SXT Plus this past June and mine came with many of the additions you’ve added after buying, such as the paddles and pedal covers. Any idea why?
I have a 2016 sxt blacktop and I took the resonators off before I even hit 1,000 on the dash. Its too quiet. Sounds great for now until I get a proper exhaust.
Did you have the timers on the dash before the tazer? I have a 17 dodge charger rallye and don't have the timers. I've been thinking about the tazer but don't if it's worth it.
So let's say you could go back in time....be standing at the dealership with your 12k down payment in hand, and they had the same SXT plus you DID buy sitting next to that R/T with shaker. Would you still buy the SXT or go for the shaker?
@@holiday42020 how do you think people save up 10k or more for a downpayment on a house? I am a mental health therapist working two jobs full time. 2 of my 4 paychecks a month pays all the bills. Plus my wife works full time. Work hard...buy nice shit.
Hey SlammedNCammed2V, i got my 2017 sxt plus 3 mo ago, gas mileage is good, speed limit is fairly slow where i live so ive been getting around 23-24 mpg, but when i head to the city where spd limit is faster and more hwy driving ive gotten 25-26 avg. less mpg the more you use Sport Mode but its worth it lol. Hope this helps.
I have the 2017 SXT PLUS as well, fucking love the car, it's my daily driver, my commute to work is about 10 miles to, and 10 miles back, my MPG is pretty bad, system says it's around 15 in the city. It does eat gas quite a bit, BUT, I'd imagine it eats the least compared to the other higher (V8) models
And I guess seeing the dealer license tags in the back... tempe lol... I'm located in mesa and just bought my challenger about a month ago, I'd love to talk over some upgrades to mine with you
How's the 276 watt stereo in the SXTPlus? I'm ordering a 2019 SXT Plus soon and wonder if I should go with the upgraded 506 watt stereo 9 speaker option
I just got my 2017 SXT with just under 14k miles last week, was listed for almost $24000 (but got the employee discount). Blacktop package, otherwise base model but already had aftermarket catback exhaust and K&N CAI installed and the marker lights tinted. Contusion blue with the blackout package is just perfect IMO.
Save the gas and just put supercharger in your V6, you'll add another 150-175 HP. Just get a sxt or a gt and put a supercharger in it and you'll spend less than just buying a basic RT. You'll have lower insurance, fuel costs than an RT plus you have AWD and more HP in comparison. Of course you could also put a supercharger in an RT but at that point you might as well just buy a hellcat.
You made it seem like to get the 5.7 v8 Hemi they need to get the R/T w/shaker. Its okay i just restated thats all. Watch and explain correctly cuz u can confuse new buyers.
No matter what you do to a SXT, they dont sound like a V8. The sound is just too high pitched and sound more like an import. A new exhaust will help but they still dont have that rumble of the V8's, ...especially with the V8 active exhaust system. But they get the better mileage and look great. But if trying to make them sound like a V8 is the goal, save your money or just get a V8
@@Sak-zo1ui I know but this one's not sounding like a six pack, and add a turbo and the RT would be left in the dust off the line too. Ripp just got them going in Las Vegas NV so I may make that a must.
Hey I’m in highschool I want to get a Dodge Challenger but I want a v8 but my parents are getting me a v6 the only reason I don’t want a v6 is beacuse people will cap on me for having a v6
The V-6 is a good Starter Car and still faster than 80% of the other cars on the road be happy my 1st car was a used VW beetle with 40 HP wait until you move out and make your own money than buy a v-8.
Dude u doing a review like the Sxt should be more luxury. Nobody cares about luxury they care about Power, Horse and Torque. Learn how to do car review.
The02CumminsRAM hey man can you do me a huge favor I see you have a 392 T/A at your dealership I know they have both if the inlets open I would love to know what or where the passenger inlet that's open goes to it's driving me crazy since I wanna see if theres a part I can get to make it functional on my challenger
Both sound weak as Hell, I can’t believe this mans got paddle shifters for 300hp smh🤣. My cat is definitely worth it, y’all should get on instead of wasting your time on them wacks.
