I’ve learned many things by watching Richard’s videos of the years, but the most important thing I’ve learned is to leave this work to someone that really knows what they’re doing. Richard is the top of the heap of these people!!
Theresa, you crack me up talking about Richard, like when he dropped his flashlight, you said kind of nonchalantly, that why your other one doesn't work. You all are great entertainment for a shade tree mechanic.
Richrad, I'm surprised that you don't have one set of tools for the removal area and one set of tools for the disassembly/assembly area. You won't have to keep looking for them so often lol. When I was a tech before I retired, I had a set of tools for under the vehicles and another for my bench work. It cost me more money but saved me a ton of time in the long run and that's important to flat rate techs. Your knowledge on these transmissions is amazing and you continue to surprise us with tips and tricks to do this work better every day.
Man i wish yall would do some full 48re, 4r100, 4l80, 4l60e, build videos lol. I build transmissions myself for customers they always work so far ive had no returns yet but still have alot to learn.
That washer welded to the drum never seen that before the owner had to be towing something too heavy and laid down the power hard on that. Thank you Richard and Teresa. Have a Blessed day
I have an 04 48reall stock with 200k miles that I'm starting to feel what i think is torque converter shutter during acceleration in OD. I might need a rebuild in the near future.
Great channel. Been watching since the last channel and always had one question. Why does it seem like rebuilding a trans in an American truck is routine maintenance? I worked for Toyota for 10 years and probably replaced 10 transmissions that were broke and usually from operator error or lack of maintenance. They go hundreds of thousands of miles with no problem. Even in work or off road trucks. That said I picked up a 2nd Gen ram with a Cummins and 47re so you last video will be a big help when I rebuild mine lol
A lot of Richard’s clientele are users and abusers, they like to run the river and have fun! Definitely not the mall crawler queens. After a while, word gets around at whom you take your vehicle to, to have it properly rebuilt. Richard also knows hundreds of tricks and mods for specific applications. Some components have multiple different variations depending on application, that’s why Richard always interrogates the client to find out how the truck will be used to select which branch/combo of components to use.
HI, Please! Please! Rebuild video on Muncie 4speed. Or another trans. I need a injection of a rebuild, ~Dr. diagnosis is~, I`m getting "teardown repeatabillitis". And he believes probably. Its infectious to other R&T`s youtubers.
Can you tell me on 6 speed manual cast iron case do the oil coolers work that are mounted in place of PTO covers so you can put two and it adds a 1/2 qt per cooler do they work well enough to put them on ?
I have a wrench for the Muncie input shaft oil slinger nut. It's Snap On #S9548. 1 5/8 is the size of it. Don't know if it's still available or not. Bill
Can the 42RE handle the torque of a stock 1998 Dodge Magnum 318 out of a 1998 Dakota 4x4 pickup, (230hp, 300tq) or would it likely fail quickly? I have a 2000 Jeep WJ with the 4.0L six, which has a 42RE and the stand alone transmission ECM. I want to use the engine for another Jeep project and replace the 4.0 with a 318 into my daily driver WJ. No off roading or anything, just a daily driver. edit: I'm a retired Ford tech. I have no experience with Chrysler transmission rebuilding. I have on rare occasions swapped them out on used vehicles that were trade-ins.
Hey richard! I just got my 2005 grand cherokee 5.7 with 545rfe trans and nv 245 t case back From the dealership at chrysler dodge eugene oregon they said my transfer case clutches are worn causing transmission to fail making 1st and 5 th gears throw inproper ratio codes and the fluid is burt and dark colored. I wana send them both to you with a monster transmision rebuild kit how do i contact you?
Between Dodge and Ford changing diameters of pump gears Chevy did it too back in the earlier days on their 350s, 400 diameter and thickness only way to know is to pull the gear out and measure it for sure thickness and diameter The wrong pump can make her break a job.
