Thanks so much for this info. I've had my 2002 Dodge Ram for 21 years and the ac was barely blowing. I saw this and just tossed the blend door. Now the cabin is freezing again which is essential for here in Florida. Interesting, the fan was filled with small leaves so it was good to clean that out. My 2002 Ram does not have an intake cabin filter....
My 2008 Dodge ram I had to do the same thing today here in sunny Arizona and 110° heat. It was working yesterday and that all sudden no air coming out the vents hardly sure enough blend or broke so indeed I just pulled it out, thank you so much for the video
My buddy has a 2006, and ever since he got the truck he’s had bad airflow me just getting back into hvac, told him let me figure it out. After watching your video I took the fan blower off and lo and behold the door had also broken off! Temp fix took the door off, hooked it back up! And amazing airflow all he’s got to worry about is the occasional bug flying through or leaf! Thanks so much!
06/11/24 I just watched this video. I bought a 98 RAM 1500. I will definitely be taking out the blend door this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon. On another note, as the old saying goes, I cut a 7 inch X 7 inch hole in the top of the truck and installed a small residential roof vent. The difference in the cab temperature was amazing and the heat dissipated very fast when I started driving and that was on city streets. It will be interesting to see how much air comes through the heat/ac ducts.
My 2007 that I’ve had for 14 years started not blowing much air. I changed out the resistor part-that didn’t work. I came across your video and resolved my issue! Thanks!
Hey buddy thanks for the video it help me understand the issues my truck is having I have a 07 1500 thanks I haven’t replaced my fan but I think I have to it’s doing the same thing…I was told right next to the fan is a I’m thinking a temperature sensor I replaced that with the new one it worked for a minute then back to the same no blowing now after seeing this video now I’m sure the blower is needing to be replaced ordering a new one thanks
Thanks so much for this video buddy. It helped me a bunch figuring out how to replace a vacuum line. My defrost worked but didn’t get air out of the vents. In my case, the vacuum line was cracking away causing the issue.
Same issue in my 2006. You are a life saver my brother. I didn’t have to take my glover box off. Also, the 3 screws are T25, not Philips if that helps anyone
Thank you for making this video; this was the issue on my 2006 Ram. Not sure if you mentioned this, but to all who attempt this fix, you do not need to remove or indeed even open the glovebox. Just remove the three Torx screws holding the blower motor in, remove the connector, and lower it down. Look up in the hole and if you see that flap, just finagle it out. You may want to remove the kick panel to get extra room for the rear blower screw.
You rock! Mechanic tried to tell me it was more involved and told me he would have to pull the dash and it was gonna be stupid money. Took me longer to get the flapper door out than it did to disassemble and reassemble! Glad I found your vid. Thanks for taking the time to share that
Your mechanic gave you a quote on "repairing" your truck. Not removing a door that is factory designed to be there. It's nothing critical, but don't act like the shop was trying to screw you. They told you the problem and gave you a quote to fix the issue, the PROPER way. If we as mechanics went around rigging everything, people would bitch and accuse us of not fixing their cars, correctly.
Thank you, I’m guessing that’s our issue. The shop changed out the blower motor. Still same issue. I wasn’t part of that decision but am getting involved now to help my dad’s truck be ready for an Arizona haul this Monday. Looking forward to helping my dad and his new driver tomorrow using the knowledge I gained from your experience. Thank you for taking the time to make and upload that video. You’re doing great things for people out here. Subscribed
Well the door is in there for a purpose but nobody show how to fix the problem do I need a new door. An how to install it i live in a really hot area so the hot air is still coming in so it takes a long time to cool off the cabin what’s the fix
Good to hear from you again, I don’t have a dodge so the video didn’t really help me but I believe in support of the channel so I watched it all the way through. Us you tubers got to stick together.
I live in Central valley in California and the dealership wants 800 bucks to fix this exact problem on my 2006 dodge. Thank you so much for this video and possibly save me a lot of money.
Same thing happened with my '04. You got lucky. I had to replace the blower motor because those little bits of broken off plastic jammed it up. It was making a hell of a noise before it jammed, too. At least thats what my wife told me when she blew it up. Instead of turning it off and telling me about it, she cranked it on high. Yay.
Thank you SO much.. A local AC place wanted almost $1000 for repairs... After watching your video I had our 02 Dodge 1500 blowing cold air with in an hour.. Busted flap door laying right where you said. Thanks again. Rick in Texas
@@LivingOnWheelsI love watching your videos bud, I know I haven’t seen ‘‘em All but I’ve spent hours and hours learning from You. I have an 02’ Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 gasoline truck CC, LB 4WD with this same problem and I also have an 02’ F350 7.3 Diesel LB, CC, DRW 4x4. You’ve taught me plenty, Just wanted to say Thank You and Keep up the Great Work!
This doesn't actually fix the issue. That is what he even said. It is just to get some air flow. To replace the door entails removing the entire dash. That is why the shop charges so much.
Good info but I would recommend putting the shutter door back on the vehicle while your already in there. Just a little bit of time spent doing the job right will prevent the headache soon to come.
Thanks have exactly the same issue with my 2011 1500, wondering if that piece could effectively be glued back on…. I imagine a be part woods be expensive, I just paid $360 bucks for a new key fobik , dealership has me hostage on that one
I’m going to go do this… I’m betting this is what’s going on… It’s been 108 and my truck is 08 mega cab with minimum air Air is cold just no volume, so I’m guessing I just found the answer Thanks so much
I kind of have the same problem, I already checked my blender door and it is working like it should, A/C is cold, air flow is good in the mornings, but afternoons if outside temperature is around 100’s °F (almost one hour driving) °F air flow starting to sound like if its getting trapped just in front of the passenger seat, air flow through the vents is very very poor BUT still cold and of course outside temperature is high so inside temperature starting to go up. So I can’t find out what the problem is, A/C works fine, blender door is not broken, all the speed works good, hot position works fine, air flow selector is good, I just don’t want to run when it gets tired I guess. 😓
Did u fix this on jeeps this is a problem however it has to do with a leak in a vacuum line thats responsible for the "suction" that allows for the movement of the bledors
fixed my issue that was exactly what my issue was .I just removed the door and maybe fix it one day ? 2002 dodge ram has all the stuff enclosed in the hvac box unit .and thanks for your video it confirmed and rectified my issue. thanks so much .happy holidays. 30 min job total time .
Thank you! I just watched another mechanic's video where this flap was the problem. You summarized symptoms then after Flow comparisons better. I'm convinced ed this is problem and will check in morn light! Almost midnight now.... Thank you, again!
Good information. It isn't just Rams that have that problem. I've had an Explorer with that same issue and I know some F-Series also have that as a common problem as well as the actuator that operates them. So, a little exploratory investigation, like this, can be very helpful.
Awesome channel helped me learn a lot about trucks thanks, but I have a 7.3 2001 f-250 and looking for a transmission new or used any good a reliable websites that would be good to look at for this truck ???? And keep in the great work
Hey, I hope you see this comment and reply. I have the same dash. My issue though is passenger air is always on hot. Cannot get it to go cold. The driver's side will go cold and hot. What door do I need to replace?
Passenger side take 3 screws out of blower motor and pull it out reach up inside and pull broken blend door out and your done put blower motor back and your done !
OMG 3 Screws were stopping my 06 from blowing this whole time. Just removed the air blocking door flap from above the blower…DUDE YOU SAVED MY SUMMER!!!!! Literally took me 5 minutes to have air freely flowing… got the truck in 2015 and dreading summers and winters due to lack of forced air. Not any more
Hey man this is Chris I live in Florida you’re probably not gonna believe this oh by the way I’m 60 years old but like you I also have a 1999 F2 50 super duty 73 and I just purchased a 2007 Dodge 3500 late-model sort actually has the 67 so needless to say I follow your channel love your stuff keep it up dude looking forward to seeing what you do with the ram
I know this is not a new video, but came in handy. I tried telling my husband there was a different issue. I had been doing my research. I drove his dodge for 3 weeks while my Tahoe was getting hail damage fixed. Ac was horrible. He took it to a shop. They couldn't figure it out. Ha should I send them your video?😂
Good to see your videos again, was beginning to worry about you and was wondering what happened. Glad to see that you are just busy with life. I too don't have a Dodge anymore ( Like someone else said below) but I do like watching people work on things who have way more skills than I do and that can also explain things in a simple and easy to understand way. Merry Christmas and look forward to what you are doing on the house.
So, if I well understood (I'm not a native speaker) you just removed that rectangualr panel which was blocking the airflow? And you didn't re-installed it? You left it simply "open"? I guess I've the same problem with my '06 3500, it doesn't blow and even if I select windshield defrost the air keeps coming in my face instead of the windshield. Should I just remove the rectangular Panel? Thanks in advance.
That is what I did because the door was broken off inside there. It sounds like you might have more than one broken door. If your air is not switching off of your defrost you might have another blend door broken deeper in the system.
Same issue on my 03 1500 SLT thanks for the info! Also I saw you had a Boss head unit, how's it working? Mine crashes out of Android Auto, wondered if you had the same problem. Cheers!
Hmmm. If you still have air in some vents then I’d say it’s probably another blend door in the system. If you’re not hardly getting any air anywhere then my next guess would be a critter nest somewhere.
@@LivingOnWheels too hard to get any tools up in the 1 inch of space to unbolt the Amp. Seems like it can't be removed without removing the dash completely.
Could be one of the other doors in the system. There are a handful of them in there. I’m assuming you’ve confirmed that the blend door in this video is moving properly with the motor?
I have a 2008 and exact same problem. Fist indicator was a loud nose in the blower fan Squirrel Cage. That piece broke off and was being tossed around inside like a roulette wheel. Was going to take it out this coming week and so your Video came up and I am ecstatic and greatly appreciate your video. Now on to see if I can repair mine before the real heat hits Florida this year in 2024.
