I left the outer ring on the output shaft off that way it just slides off and the bearing stays with the tailcone

I ruined two bushing attempting to press them in from the driveshaft input side, did you have to press it in from the side that bolts to the rest of the transfer case?

I was able to take mines off how you explained. But how did you get it back in? Every time I push the cone to line up the snap ring with the bearing pushes in too. Even when ring is set in open position. Thank you.

What about undoing the 4 bolts first and rotating the whole housing around till you have easy acess to the snap ring hole?
