This Oregon NV4500 had been running some incorrect fluid for a very long time. We tear it down, inspect, and explain some issues we found that we have to remedy for the customer.
i have a 98 2500 nv4500 and i was driving around and all of a sudden i pulled out of fifth to downshift and it pulled out into neutral position and let out the clutch and was still in fifth gear. not sure what’s going on but im pulling the trans in a couple days.
Looking at buying a nv4500 and picking up. With the top off of it and it out of a vehicle what tips would you have for inspection to see if it's a good unit. Apparently only 112,000km on the unit but always take that with a grain of salt.
The videos weren’t exaggerating much. Just tore down my first NV4500 for a guy, and that reverse cone snap ring did not come here to play. My 9” Snap On snap ring pliers were not up to the task. Ended up having to work around the ring with a couple screwdrivers.
Depends on the application- if it has stock or stock style brass synchros, Pennzoil Synchromesh is the best, smoothest stuff in my opinion. If its been rebuilt with carbon fiber synchros, redline MTL is the hot ticket 👍
I know this video is old, seen u on v belts channel. How much power will ur nv4500 hold ? What clutch do u recommend? I have a south bend dual disk that makes 1st,2nd, reverse hard to shift into
The ratings can’t be modified from the factory like with an auto, any manual shop that attempts to do so is marketing with gimmicks, and guessing at best. We have plenty of 4500s holding at the 500hp range. I recommend Valair dual disc quiet organic model clutches, I made another video about them.
