In this video I share my thoughts on Dodge and Stellantis refusal to listen to their customers and admit they screwed up with their Dare Forward 2030 initiative and why they should've kept the dodge chargers and challengers longer.

Shareholder profit is all that CEOs should be looking at. You maximize shareholder profit by caring for you customers, loving your products and supporting your employees. When Dodge et al was purchased by an EU conglomerate, the end was set. The pathetic Hornet is proof positive that they do not know or care what their customers want.

This is their own fault. They bought a company that built it’s American brands with an image of being a working class, traditional American car manufacturer. Whether it’s the muscle car image of Dodge, the ruggedness of Ram or the adventuring spirit of Jeep. They came in and decided that they would simply take what works in Europe and turn the American portion of the company into a European car company with a European line up. They essentially abandoned their core customer base across the board. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
@bc9477
@bc9477 Месяц назад
It's not that it works in Europe, we Europeans hate downsizing and EV but the system was always stronger than the people and was not by the people and for the people. You guys in USA defied the system for a long time and still kinda do, laws and regulations are still focused for the better of an individual than the system. Here in EU we do not have a say what we want. They force us whatever they want and highly tax the things they don't want us to do or simply ban it. That's how we got 1.0L 3 cylinder engines and now mostly EVs

It is like an Ayan Rand novel. The creative, productive employees are let go. They are going to make unreliable cars that their customer's don't want and are too expensive to maintain. On top of that, Stellantis is re-releasing the Fiat 500 in the USA since it is according to them "iconic." I think most Americans would agree that it is iconically ugly.
@asajayunknown6290
@asajayunknown6290 2 месяца назад
I rented a Fiat 500 once. Nice little car. Limited appeal cuz it was really only a 2-seater. And the back seats didn't fold flat. So, I knew it'd fail in the US. Only so much room for a truly niche car. I've seen used ones, low miles, for a couple K. Won't purchase cuz of the reliability issues. Also considered the 500x, but same engine/granny as the Patriot. No thanks.
@Jaguarmaserati
@Jaguarmaserati 2 месяца назад
I personally don't have a problem with the Fiat 500, I like it's retro look. But the thing is, Fiats are made as a cheap everyman's car. Most Americans don't like small cars. Therefore, they don't sell well. I personally like cars across the spectrum for variety, but....I digress. So, when cars are sold in high volumes, usually parts are not kept on hand. Which means you import them. So, cheap car + expensive parts = bad reputation. In places like Europe, parts of Africa, and South America where they are everywhere....parts are cheap. Another thing, I don't think many Americans work on their own cars. Going by a lot of folks I know. I can count on one hand the amount of people I personally know, that drive, that work on their own cars.

30 years as a Chrysler Tech, all of the Fiat based vehicles are poorly made poorly designed cars that are unreliable. When the Peugeot FCA deal was announced the writing was on the wall! FCA struggled to even supply oil filters, let alone replacement parts for warranty repairs. For example, I waited 2 months to get a back ordered rear main seal for a Hemi, during that time I received a call every week from Chrysler asking whe the County Sheriff's Police Car was not repaired yet. It could have been on the road in one week if they would have authorized an aftermarket part!

@@drunkhusband6257Over the years we have seen once popular full size cars, midsize cars, and minivans come & go. I don't understand today's obsession with SUV, crossover, & truck vehicles, but that will someday pass as well. Buyer tastes are constantly changing and when a manufacturer strikes a hit with something fresh, you can bet all the others will get on the bandwagon, like what happened when the original Mustang and minivan came out. Unfortunately the buyers of today increasingly perceive vehicles as merely appliances, but I'm confident that enough of us true enthusiasts remain to justify offering new muscle car models. To be successful though buyers will have to be open minded as to what form they take and how they are powered. I am not an EV advocate, but if the upcoming Charger EV is a failure as some wish, that certainly hurts the prospects for seeing other new performance coupes come out whether ICE, hybrid, or EV.

The writing has been on the wall for about 15 years. DC is destroying the US auto industry. I spent 1997-2021 in the auto business, on a retailer level. I've repeatedly watched manufacturers put their dealers in no-win after no-win situation. The breaking point for me was (then) FCA jamming Pacifica plug-in hybrid EV's (f'n electric minivans), with MSRP's way above the market (then $50's-$60's) with only $50-$165 in total retail margin for the sales department to work with. That isn't a typo. When no dealer ordered any (why would they?), FCA started tying monthly bonus tiers and the future allocation of the more desirable RAM models to Pacifica sales. They aren't alone. Nissan is famous for this same BS. The public complains about the retailer experience (many times justifiedly) but make no mistake, behind every awful dealership experience is a manufacturer pulling the puppet strings that spell certain destruction of the brand. RAM and Jeep will get parted out to the highest bidder at some point. Chrysler is done, Dodge isn't far behind. GROSS

I know I would buy one. I hate all these new 'tech vehicles'

I can’t really enjoy or celebrate this 170. I feel embarrassed to own it knowing many of my fellow Mopar brothers were screwed out of owning one. Tim Kuniskis the CEO of Dodge ran this company completely into the ground. Instead of expanding the brand he catered the brand specifically to one consumer base. It was the most idiotic decision I ever seen!!! He got caught up with the Hellcat wave and completely cut off every consumer base outside of big performance V8s. That was the dumbest thing he could do why would you cut off gas commuter cars, mid size pickups trucks and utility vans? Tim that doesn’t makes no sense you just limited your entire consumer base why would you do that Tim why? Then you never innovated the V8 or your V6 and just come out of nowhere with this Hornet garbage that is a rebadged Alfa Romeo Tonale at the last minute. Then this Hurricane engine which is as heavy as your V8 why would you come out with that engine extremely late. You could’ve replaced the pentastar V6 in 2018-2019 with that Hurricane inline engine. Then lastly you never made the cars lighter fast forward you’ve made the car twice as heavy as everything on the market! It’s documented that Tim felt as though he should scrap the entire lineup he made of lighter chargers and challengers. He had the cars built and showed the car to multiple car dealers already. The car was built on the Alfa Romeo Giulia platform and so a 3,800-3,900lbs performance V8. So even with what’s going on right now with them going out of business. We would’ve had 3yrs of production of lighter chargers and challengers.

I have the same sentiments, but I will bet a Dodge Demon (or a hundred dollars, whichever is less) that it isn't Tim making these decisions, rather it is the idiots in Europe. just like when Daimler merged with them back in the day and that idiot from Germany nearly ruined Dodge. the problem is, European auto companies do not have a clue about the American car market, they just try to push their crap and hope we won't notice or care. with that said, Tim definitely isn't pushing back hard enough as he is still employed, which means he fell in line, or cares more about making money than preserving the legacy of what made Dodge the king of muscle.

I have been saying all along that Stellantis has been sabotaging the CDJR brands since their 2021 PSA merger with FCA. Stellantis has other brands and they are going to try and push, over what the American enthusiast have loved for so many years, which is the muscle car and everyday commuters that are ICE not electric. The hybrid version are an option that some may actually go for that will not have anything to do with full EV. Just look at their brands before the merger and what they offer as Stellantis now. They are French company based in Amsterdam and been very frugal on ICE vehicles for years and more on gas saving and electrification. I have been a Mopar enthusiast for my entire life but have owned many other brands throughout. I currently have a stable full of Mopar branded vehicles from older classics to new modern examples of muscle car HP. I am deeply disappointed in the direction the CDJR has went but not surprised as I was skeptic form the start of the merger. I can only hope that some day the true meaning and value of the brand returns, if not I will never buy another Mopar .

My very first car, in 1975, at age 16, was a 1970 Dodge Challenger. No, I wasn't rich, neither were my parents. It was not a muscle car, it was a base model, 318 two barrel, single exhaust, automatic on the column, dark green with a white vinyl top and black interior. Price was $1995. My dad traded his beat up 1963 Chevy II in on it for $500. I became the family driver. My dad passed away less than a year later. It had a bench seat with split backs and a center fold down armrest. It was not fast, but it was beautiful. Only 5 years old. My parents financed it for me, and I made all the payments. Insurance was not required in my state back then. I owned that car for 11 years. Way back in 2008 or so, I had high hopes when I heard the Challenger was coming back. But boy was I disappointed when I saw it. It bore only a vague resemblance to the 1970s models. It was short, fat, too tall and too narrow. it had a chunky look. Far from the beautiful lines of the 1970-1974 models. And the wheels were huge diameter GHETTOS with no real tires on them (my 1970 had 14" wheels and real tires with sidewalls) It was more of a caricature of a Challenger than anything else. I was disgusted by it, and certainly had no desire to own one. Then things started getting even worse. They came out with a model that had off road fender flares. I saw it as a complete joke.
