Thank you so much for sharing this. I am a veteran teacher in the inner city. When I first started teaching, I used to go home crying almost every day because I felt so helpless to do anything to change the circumstances of some of my 1st and 2nd-grade students. I knew some were homeless, hungry, and carrying an adult's burden to be the "little man" to take care of baby brothers and sisters because momma was running the streets. Some came to school angry, defiant, and always ready to fight. Some arrived at school exhausted because of all-night parties or because of fear to go to sleep for a variety of reasons...physical abuse, sexual abuse...My heart was broken for them. I quickly realized that crying about it was doing more harm than good...in fact it was useless. Instead, I worked on building authentic relationships with my babies. I tried to find something positive about every single student and (against my colleagues' advice) visited their homes to tell their parents or whoever they lived with something positive, and completely genuine about their child. I wanted them to be just as proud of them as I was. I couldn't always call because some of them didn't have phones and had no transportation to be able to come to school (or money to take a cab or bus). In any case, thank you for sharing your heart, Tre. As an elementary teacher, I have always felt like I sow the seeds but never see the end product...I often wonder if what I do/did ever made a difference for my students. I'm sorry you had to go through everything that you went through. You sound like you landed on your feet and are headed in the right direction. Again, thank you so much for sharing! Many blessings to you.

@user-id2nw9pd1d
@user-id2nw9pd1d 2 года назад
@@puckloki873 Such a pity that you made such a huge assumption about my post. Perhaps you came up with teachers that held no expectations for you...that's sad. I didn't want to write a novel about how I turned all of the stupid crying into very high expectations for my students. It is extremely clear, however, that you are not an educator. Any good teacher knows that no learning will take place if a students' basic needs aren't met first...the need for feeling safe, fed, understood, respected. As a result, my students were the highest performing in my school. My principal had me teach the other teachers my methods for increasing literacy and math scores. I went into the students' neighborhood and put together literacy workshops for the parents (in which I paid for the materials and on my own unpaid time). I can completely understand if you are making a statement about the current public education system...expectations do not necessarily measure proficiency in reading, writing, and math. These days it is about shoving a bunch of scripted propaganda down their throats and making sure we stick to the pacing chart supplied by the district. Accommodating a variety of learning styles is pretty absent as well as teaching students to think critically. Should a teacher get out of line and actually push students to perform academically these days, parents are quick to challenge the teacher to back down so that their little "peanut" isn't stressed at school. At one point, we were even told to give students a D- even if they hadn't turned in one single assignment in the entire semester. Our hands are tied in the present-day educational system. 30 years ago, we could really teach. Teaching was a craft in understanding the whole child to be able to individualize and accelerate learning and promote critical thinking...not so anymore.

Yes, your story can and has already impacted peers. I’m praying for you. Praying for guidance, determination and the light needed to blow up in a industry that needs voices and stories like yours. I've watched many of these amazing story tellers take to the podium to recount diabolical events, also some gritty and dangerous situations and overwhelmingly moving accounts of lifes lived on the edge. Tre's life story and the way he told it was both moving and captivating ! I lost count of how many times I had an overwhelming urge to just hug and hold him. I've never rooted for someone as much as I'm rooting for Tre . Hold in there Tre... there are those of us out here whose life you have touched and who are sending you SO much love and good will. Including me ! Best wishes from England. 😊💕 P.S...I think for what it's worth, it is the title given to his story "Dodging death " that accounts for less views than others ? Had it been titled " A survivor of extreme child abuse " the views would erupt.

Oh my gosh, Tre, your story is as inspiring as it is tragic. There’s an essence that you have that helps you tap into your world and understand it, navigate it, and get those logos fortune opportunities. Certainly diving into creative processes is great way to deal with the pain and major issues you’ve dealt with as well as find your way out. You have freaking persevered. There’s a light in you that that judge recognized when he acquitted you in your teens. You’ve had years of a hard life, and you’re still here, man! It’ll take years to process out, and with any luck, you’ll have epiphanies along the way. You’ve managed to survive some of the roughest environments, you can rise above your current circumstances. Keep your fire lit; you’ll get to a better station in life. I hope to hear more from you in the future.

Listened to the end. So many feelings and thoughts come up with this...hearing about the beatings when they were so little, punished for SMILING bc their smiles looked like their dead dad...I just wanted to go back in time and grab those little boys and give them a place of safety...of peace. The judge ...wow! The story of those people willing to kill you as a child so they can make out with some stupid speakers?!??! God really does have a GREAT role for you brother Tre...have you cried out to ask Him what it is? You have so much to give in your deep authenticity! I know Father isn't done with you yet please ...take it to Him, only HE can fill this hole in your heart dear brother...He can! He can take away your desire to drink like flipping a light switch, I know bc HE did it with my alcoholic parents (thank God!) HE LOVES YOU and sometimes we are led through remarkable strife to become a diamond for the KINGDOM that will not pass away...praying for you brother. Much ❤ Love.

He knows us more than we know ourselves and some people won't become humbled on our own accord...we are to rejoice in persecution and know that this life is not our true home...its a test to choose HIM in the face of darkness ❤❤❤
