I just finished watching and Da Er was also really funny and candid. I really like that both he and Kirk are willing to use personal anecdotes to elucidate their points. Thank you so much for the content!
I’m in the US, education is very decentralized so some areas are very progressive with sex education and others barely teach it. Some areas teach abstinence only while others are pretty open about safe sex. I’m from a rural area and they briefly taught sex education from a health perspective in the sense that abstinence is the 100% method to avoid diseases and pregnancy but also showed proper condom usage and talked about certain common STDs spread. Even then it was only like 2 days and not thorough at all (I’m 35 now and honestly, I doubt it has changed much in my old school) Our movies and tv make us seem a very open and liberal society but when it comes to sex, we are still extremely conservative in a lot of the US.
You handled this topic very well. These sort of pubescent learning experiences are universal. I went through this period of life in Australia in the 70's but so much is the same I was laughing all through it.
Seriously, never stop these talks with your friends. It's hilarious! I laughed in front of my TV when he said that his breasts hurt when he was in middle school.
Kirk, I love you man, don't get me wrong I am a boy I am "not having a finger in every pie" so to speak but I think you really stand out. A bit on the off beat side and you have a great personality. Keep it up mate we like you very much in France so just remain the way you are. You are welcome in paris anytime and helen too. Da er you are too young on the show so I am sure I will get to know you better later on. Anyway you make a lovely bunch!!!
Well I am an overseas Chinese descendent and I live in Brazil. I and my husband we are the Second generation born in Brazil. Well we do not have a formal education in Brazil but in our family and our school community we talk very open with children My son is 6 years old. He knows by books that we read which parts of his body and the body of the girl are private parts of his body. He knows how the baby are made and that he won the sperm race and he knows what is a sexual inter course and more important he knows this is an adult issue. We can not only rely in school to give this information. The more important as soon as the Child Has this curiosity to respond with direct information. I guess that later we are going to discuss more about the emotional and psychological issues. But for us is important to respond to the question that a child does. 😇
I know I'm a bit late but this is definitely an interesting as well as funny interview with interesting guests! Very educational too regarding Chinese Classics and Chinese society, morals and attitudes throughout the ages. Thoroughly enjoyed it ❤🎉 Also there is some good vocab in there and it's easy to follow. Perhaps because I'm more motivated due to the topic at hand. 😅
Seen the number of people in China, of course there are a full of approaches of this matter. About as much as there are parents. And efficiency is , after al , an individual matter.
TOO FAST? Control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time on desktop computers and laptops OR 25% at a time on smartphone! Access the playback speed controls as follows: Desktop Computers and Laptops: open the video, then go to the lower right of the video's screen and click on the settings icon (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link "custom". Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time. Smartphones: open the video and go to the upper right of the video's screen. You will see 3 dots. Click on them and you will see the link to open the "playback speed" controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you greater control over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones).
Before I clicked on the video: oh boy, this is going to be one SPICY podcast After I watched the video: I guess on this topic, the US and China are the same 😳 I never would have guessed.
In what way did you think it would be different? Though to my understanding as a European, American sex ed is mostly "never have sex, you will get pregnant and die" and the Chinese way is to never even mention the concept.
@@msai257 tbh I don’t know what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting so many similarities between the 2 cultures, from the society level to the individual level. I was under the impression that these young teenagers would be too exhausted from school to be aroused, and by the time they got to college they didn’t know how to interpret said feelings. That said, I do want to change my way of thinking based off of this new information so I won’t be as clueless or ignorant moving forward. I’m glad I watched the podcast
Thank you for a very interesting and educational video. I think many countries have sex as taboo, including USA. Kids somehow always figure out how their bits work. You should try to look up how Denmark was in the 1970s, you'd probably be surprised.
wow, thanks for this fantastic video.... It was really very interesting and tells a lot about the sex life of china. Talking about sex , periods is still considered taboo in many countries but i think the new generation of china is very open about it ,hugging and kissing in public is very common in china now even living together before marriage is also very common.
Kurt, has started his own RU-vid Channel! You might want to check it out and say hi!: PunchPalPan: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-joJYwTcsmuM.html
thanks for this Deep insight into culture. Lots of new words to learn. In the United States, our district held a father-son night for sex education in middle schools. However, my son refused to go because it was embarrassing to talk to his parents about the subject. The experiences of these people are the same as those in America, trust me.
I’m not sure if it’s good or bad knowing that boys in Chinese middle schools are as “strange”, (I’ll be nice 😂) as middle school boys in the US. Then again, way back in the “olden days”, the 60’s here in the US..I’ll never forget in 6th grade watching a popular boy putting his hands inside a popular girls shirt, IN CLASS. I was VERY naive, knew nothing about puberty or anything else at that age. About ten years later, that same “boy”, was sent to prison for assaulting several women.
Hey, Eileen! I'm a member as well as a foreign language professor. I love your channel. However, could you please have the guests not use f-bombs or s-bombs? My daughter is a big fan of yours, and I think it would be nice if your guests didn't swear with such vulgarity. After all, we want your channel to be kid and teen-friendly. Thanks.
