I used to think this model was really ugly, then I rode in one and loved the interior so much that I got one. I've had it for two years and continue to be impressed.
@@real100talk5I was really looking into a Kia soul, especially after my grandparents got their Kia seltos 3 years ago. Could you share how you maintain the vehicle and what you did?. Was it regular oil changes? Did you get the gaskets replaced anything with the transmission. Because I've heard issues with oil burning before...
@@ReaISouI once you reach 75k miles than start changing your oil with synthetic oil every 5000 miles and trust me your Kia will go way over 200, 000 miles.👍
@@typerlolevery car brand has their issues and oftentimes when people don't maintain their vehicles that starts issues. It's not really the car brand. I know plenty of people who still have Sam's songs even though they blew up back in like 2018. That doesn't discredit the entire car brand. Toyota is used to burn oil and have blown head gaskets all over the place. Actually same thing with Subaru but now they're some of the top selling most reliable vehicles in America. If you maintain your vehicle and Kia has figured out a lot of their issues with the souls, just wish they still offered an actual manual transmission. But from what I found out, especially on Reddit people have been having good luck with them lately.
I’ve had one for 8 years now, put 130k on it and it’s never even had a single check engine light. I’ve owned a lot of cars in my life and nothing comes close to how reliable it’s been. So much so, I’m probably trading in my old one for a brand new one next week. Great little cars, good mileage, runs forever. What else do you need in a simple car?
i’ve got a 2012 that, while it’s now mine, was driven by my mother for like 8 years. We bought it used in 2014 for $13,000. It’s got 93,000 miles on it and it’s literally never had a problem other than usually stuff like batteries and what not. I know 93k isn’t a TON of miles but in the almost 11 years it’s been running it’s still going strong. I don’t plan on keeping it forever since i myself don’t love the look of it but i will ride it out and once i replace it, i’ll keep it around on liability. :) great car!
My 2010 is going out now. Engine went bad at 172000, got it swapped. Manual trans now noisy at 180300. Though you can do a lot worse $17k and nothing will have all the features that this car has at its price.
Your last 2 words were the key element...SIMPLE CAR. I love my 2014 Kia Soul basic trim with a bullet-proof 6-speed manual transmission, but the NEW models have a LOT MORE GADGETS on them, including that ALL DIGITAL instrument cluster. To make matters much worse, they no longer offer a manual transmission, which makes me cringe!! Automatic transmissions are just TOO FRAGILE for me!!! I plan to keep my old 2014 model running for as long as possible. I might just opt for a new engine and clutch when my 1.6L GDI engine finally gets tired.
I just traded in my 2014 Soul for this 2023 Soul. Great, reliable crossover. I put a rack and basket on my 2014 and moved from California to Texas with two dogs. Such a versatile car!
The soul is hands down the most practical car for $22k. It’s roomy, efficient, easy in and out and reliable. We have a 2022 soul with 51,000 freeway miles, we average 31 combined and has zero problem
Never imagined getting a Kia Soul. I never thought it’d be my kind of car, but I love my 2022 Soul. Do kind of wish my old car could have held out til the 2023 Soul, but my 2022 is nicer than I could’ve imagined
My friend has a 2018 Kia soul plus with the technology package which includes blind spot monitoring, heated and cooling seats in front as well as heated in the back. Big sun roof all across the roof, so many safety features. She loves hers and only has 40,000 miles on it! I still call the hamster car lol. It’s pretty cool
I've driving everything from range rovers to a really old jetta and let me tell you. I saw one the other day in person (for my mom) and wow I'M IMPRESSEEDDDDD (currently driving a new audi q3) The value is UNMATCHED. I want one now and I HAVE ZERO SHAME!
Just purchased the 2024 LX for 25k OTD and in FL they can't keep these things in stock especially in White. So if you live prepare to on a frustrating hunt and especially the shenanigans most of the dealers pull on a hot item. I had to tell several of them to take a long walk off a short pier after attempting to jack the price. One even took the vehicle out of inventory only for it to magically appear the next day after I was atta there.
I love my get 1 Soul i am the first owner and i really like the new ones too. I honestly have heard nothing but praise for these incredibly successful cars, so I dont know who in their right mind would "hate" it and why. These cars got soul man. If you aint a hamster thats ok, but why the hate man? 😉
It’s not a flat fold but you could create a modification to even the trunk area with the folded seat. After that you would have to be about 5 feet tall or sleep sideways with knees tucked up. I have a 2023 soul, a ‘19 Sorento, and I’ve owned a ‘17 sportage. I specifically got the sportage with sleep-ability for car camping, the Sorento has even more space.
Hell no that’s the best vehicle Kia makes….I drive one for work….it almost takes curves like my ss no joke….also I work in service n these tend to get the best bang for the buck…s/o the Kia soul 👏
also the transmission in my car is a "sportmatic", where you can bump the automatic shifter to the left from drive and then bump forward or back as an alternative to regularly driving automatic. the transmission is from a dodge dart. joint venture of mitsubishi and dodge. quirky transmission i must say. some days i hate it. they were quirky the day they came out from the factory so it's not just a high mileage thing.
One day I forgot where I parked but I remembered I parked beside a Kia Soul. When I saw that Kia Soul, I knew my car was close by. The Kia Soul is very distinguishable
That's partly why I like it, stands out from the crowd. and has "Volkswagen" design traits by a former Volkswagen designer. Good thing the parts aren't Volkswagen lol.
I have 2023 grey his name is Cubie. I didn’t like it at first, the way it looked. I wanted something different and to stand out. I love him ❤we pack up go on the road great on gas plenty of room for the grandkids. No regrets
Just traded in my 13 Optima Hybrid that I put 217k miles on, picked up a 21 white Kia soul s that now joins our 2015 Kia soul base. (I do also have a 95 Bronco that sits in my garage). When we trade in the 15 Kia…lol yeah…I’ll pick up a 23 Kia soul.
In six years of driving a 2018 Soul the only issue was a check light due to a fuel cap. Easily fixed by clearing the code and closing the fuel tank with the original fuel cap. Just a gremlin.
Thanks for the review. My cousin and I are going on a road trip. My cousin is in a wheelchair and I wanted to make sure there’s enough space for her and her wheelchair. Thanks soooo much 🙏🏽
Just bought one and it wasn’t $22,000 more like $30,000. Hated it at first but by the time I drove it home…loved it! Now if I can figure out how to turn on the dang headlights🤦🏽♀️
My Kia salesman is just waiting to get a 23 soul gt line in then it’s mine. Have heard some not so good things about oil consumption in these Kia engines but I’ll do 3000-5000 synthetic oil changes and I should be golden. Can’t wait to try my first Kia product after 40 years of driving mustangs(they too dam expensive now).
Electric Kia have better customer satisfaction reports and EVs savings many ways. EVs motor outlasts i.c e. Cars by far. Tesla and some EVs known to go a million miles with very little motor wear down and many less days of down time. Safer cleaner faster better for environment and energy from cheaper used Solar Panels if you choose. To much to list but please research more. 🙏
@@SafepathUS EVs are a waste of money. In order for an EV to make sense, regular unleaded would have to reach like $7/gallon. Even then you'd have to put up with waiting an hour for a charge. Right now to fill up a tank of gas takes less than 10 minutes.
I actually love the design of the kia soul, it's a cute little thing. but I wouldnt really trust it because of the amount of recalls from kia and hyundai
Once the recalls have been done with all the FREE UPGRADE PARTS from your local Kia dealer, it's just fine...with great handling and tight cornering. But the GDI engine DOES REQUIRE punctual oil changes with FULL SYNTHETIC 5W20 or 5W30 oil...along with a GOOD oil filter such as WIX or K&N. You also need to take just a few minutes to spray a can of SEA FOAM thru the intake at 2000RPM every 50K to 60K to CLEAN OUT THE ENGINE TOP END CARBON, due to the nature of the GDI engine. I LOVE my 2014 Kia Soul with 6-speed manual transmission and 1.6L GDI engine. I have nearly 110K on the odometer and the engine still sounds and runs like new. It's all about keeping up with general maintenance. I want to find a second Kia Soul with a VERY DURABLE MANUAL TRANSMISSION, because It is roomy and versatile....plus it is super easy to roll-start....even in reverse. I also recommend changing out the spark plugs with NGK Iridium plugs every 60K, so you NEVER need to worry about overloading and frying the ignition coils, due to fouled plugs. I recommend that with ANY CAR that has a tiny ignition coil mounted on top of each spark plug!! 9 out of every 10 ignition coil failures are due to worn out spark plugs, which are MUCH CHEAPER to replace...rather than paying for GOOD replacement ignition coils.
@@scottfrazer8376 I have 264k miles on my 15 base (NA GDI 1.6L). I read the Kia bulletins and it calls for OEM oil filter which I buy in bulk on Amazon. It comes out to around $5.50 for each oil filter. Interesting thing about the spark plugs is there was 80k miles on those but they were still in great condition. Must be the seafoam spray really did help that much because I've seen spark plugs in bad condition around 30k miles with these cars on the Soul forums
call me weird if you want but even if i was filthy rich i still wouldn't own a G-Wagon. I'd just get a turbocharged Kia Soul, convert it to AWD using the Kia Seltos parts, tune it, put a sweet exhaust on it to open it up, put a lift kit on it and bigger tires, possibly make it "widebody" depending on if I'd like the look in a photoshop, extend the rear out a foot for extra cargo space
F that digital gauge cluster - those are not only annoying af with their incessant movement, but Kia’s electronics are so f’ing unreliable that it guaranteed to be one of the first things to conk out on you. NO WAY.
I bought this yesterday. I love all the features, but I should have done more research. I didn't know about the engine fires. That really scares me. Some people actually died 😢
I should make a car review channel based on comments like this. Head factor in backseat is probably a 8. Not maybach level, but enough room to do the deed.
@@joshuagrant6030 small utility vehicle, but it's great for headroom. Storage is on par on most compact cars and fuel economy is on par with most non hybrid cars.
I always wanted a Kia soul car ever since I was a kid lmaoo i don’t know if I’ll ever get one tho despite hearing that this cars are bad even tho I like them kinda scared to be made fun of for wanting to get one
Why should you even CARE what anyone thinks?? I certainly don't LOL. As long as you get one with a durable MANUAL transmission and stay on top of general maintenance, you'll be just fine....scroll up just a tad bit and see my other reply about my Kia Soul ;-)
Yeah in FL its tough to find the LX in white without those frivolous markups like trim guards, Nitrogen filled tires (total bullshit there) and the list goes on. One dealer quoted me a price of almost 30k!
You sure it has wireless car play? which package is that? My new loaded 23 GT Soul don't have wireless car play. Update: None of the Souls trims come with wireless apple car play.
@@stuartpotter1798 yea I went back to my dealership to ask and I was told none of the souls have wireless features. Only the other Kia’s. The Sportage was the first to get it. He said they may be an update for the 8-10in for wireless play but no word yet.
So I guess I only like the 2014-2019 body style. I thought the 2010-2013 were butt ugly. I only got my '16 because of the body style change. 2020 they handed those gross pointy tail-lights. '21 and up has horrendous ridges around the wheel wells. I love mine but probably won't get another because they're ugly again 😢
