Its a skill you learn when you call cadence like that. I had to learn it too and and it's actually really fun getting the whole unit to repeat anything you say

EXACTLY what I was thinking, OP! 🤣 Too many young married army dudes out there who go on leave or get stationed somewhere and cheat on their wives. I’ve experienced it! Luckily I found out he was married with kids before I got too close.
When it’s your literal job, it pays to have a good attitude about it. Also, you don’t want to seem like you can’t handle it…not for yourself, but for the soldier on your left and right. You leave and come back as a unit.
We sing about some depressing shit sometimes when marching. But it pumps you up nonetheless. I always loved it when an nco would put their heart into cadence like this drill
It's a specific type of voice that sticks with you. After BCT I went the ROTC route. Came time to take a swim test. I started to freak out at the last dive because I couldn't swim. Actually was a very weak swimmer. We had an airborne instructor who was a DI. All the others couldn't get me to jump. E waltzes in looks up and says, in that voice, "do not refuse the jump". I instantly said "yes drill Sargent" and left into the water. No though. Just heard the voice and said "go go go". I later talked to him and thanked him. He said he wasn't about to let me screw up. I came so far that one part of one bs test wasn't going to stop me. He said sometimes we all just need that one extra push. Learned about myself that day. Then I promptly failed everyone by getting fat and being kicked out because I lacked the propper discipline.
They scream to motivate, direct, and scare you. Military is about killing people and not being killed. You need to be mentally and physically prepared at all times. Thats why they do it.

I can't stand comments like these. Someone gives a good speech and everyone says "MAKE THIS GUY PRESIDENT NOW," when all the person did was give a good speech. Most people sing well. Doesn't mean they're going to make it in the studio. Surely this drill instructor would've tried in the studio over joining the Army if he knew he had the knack for singing. The day I told my mom gnat I read getting deployed to Iraq was probably the worst day of her life to that point. I remember her begging me to find a way out of the deployment.
But that's part of the point, who sing what you are told to sing, it's the army, if you are told to say "I am an idiot" you say it without question, lol just food for thought, but yes that's funny
