Now that she's an executive producer, I hope she can write Wednesday in a way she's totally satisfied with in season 2.. -- FOLLOW ME: instagram: halohayleys tik tok: halohayley -- Thanks for watching!
it’s actually kinda shocking that this project was the first time Jenna felt the twist of the corporate arm. Considering she spent a good amount of time on a Disney Channel show early in her career.
Tbh, I really loved HER acting of Wednesday but I LOATHED that series. As she's said, it wasn't really the ODD yet unbothered/thought they were "normal" Wednesday family, more like depressed people who so happens to be weirdos. The script was just a mess but she saved it
Can we talk about the fact that she got mad at her dad at the thought of him being a murdered and both the parents looked ashamed of the murder thing? I was like... what?! In the show and movies, they are proud of being family with serial killers and stuff, why do SHE gets mad at them for that of all things? The only Addams stuff I saw all series was Pugsley eating the potpourri on the therapy session
I also loved her acting. I enjoyed the show although it was kinda predictable and cringe in some places. You do have a point that it felt more like depressed Wednesday rather than just odd
I have a deeper respect for Jenna Ortega for speaking out about her misgivings about the show. She is right about everything that was wrong with the show down to the horrible love triangle to the bad dialog she had to work with, Her performance is the reason the show is successful. She is being threatened by showrunners online I read for speaking out but from what I have seen, a good majority of people agree with her. Hopefully, her being an executive producer next year will give her the voice to protect her character.
When I saw the love triangle happening in the show I thought it was so dumb and didn’t fit her Wednesday. You could have ppl fall for her sure but for her to also return those feelings is insane. I’m glad she is going to be executive producer for season 2. She really does know the character so well
Jenna is TOTALLY ON POINT. I am a fan of original series and at times was like that’s Not true to the character. So I get what she was saying. I’m looking forward to season 2 now
Yeah... she's annoyed slightly... I can tell she's greatful... BUT SHE DOESNT WANT TO BE KNOWNS AS WEDNESDAY FOREVER.... she's a serious actress and she's gonna do many other great roles...... like how when a actor is in a marvel movie they end up only being know as "Spiderman " for example Tom Holland
Right bc could you imagine Wednesday saying “oh my god I love it, I can’t believe I had that I hate myself.” None of that would feel right coming out of Wednesday’s mouth. There would be so many videos talking abt how cringe it is
I'm really glad Jenna gets it. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't a good spin off because they didn't stay true to character. Also I liked her dance. Tik tok made it cringe.
Her vague criticism of the show, without specifics, means Tim Burton will catch all of the slack from the public and media…If he is the issue, kudos to her, if not, she might want to voice that. I wouldn’t want someone that big in Hollywood as an enemy
Honestly as a 24 yr old Adams Family fan watching Wednesday I thought the dialogue was pretty cringey to give her a tween edgy attitude like “im so emo”, i thought it was pretty lame compared to Wednesday’s original character dialogue to be witty and dark humor which I love.
I started watching Wednesday and got to like the 5th episode before I had to stop. It def felt like a “tween” show and I’m 37 so it just didn’t appeal to me. It wasn’t as dark and mature as I expected it to be for an Addams show- now that I know she is directing the next season I will try to get through season 1 for context and hope the next one is better
I was so sad dude- I wanted this show to be good! But it was honestly a mess. It just didn’t feel like Wednesday at all! Jenna did great obviously, she’s an incredible actor, but that. Was. Not. WEDNESDAY!
I mean as far as the love triangle goes, the whole plot of the Addams family musical is Wednesday falling in love so Wednesday and romance has been done before. Also the original Wednesday Addams was from a comic strip and she was a little girl so we had no idea what her opinion on romance was (thank goodness because it’s weird when people push that stuff on to kids) but the 90s Addams family was the first thing to really delve into Wednesday’s character and make her story plots a lot darker than they had been, they also aged her up and made her older than Pugsley.
You’re so observant and on point with what you noticed in Jenna’s podcast interview and carpet interviews like I’m really really glad she did continuously put her foot down in order to keep Wednesday as true to herself as possible. For everything pure and holy, not EVERY tv show needs a love triangle lol. Your commentary is so funny and engaging as usual! Go ahead and make your merch, I see you hitting 110K soon love
I don't appreciate that most interviewers were just cashing in on a viral moment when asking about her dance. Because the styles she took inspiration from really translated well to the character and SAVED the scene, and I would have loved to know how exactly she researched it. If you were to tell anyone out of context "Wednesday Addams dancing well at a high school dance." You would be just as disgusted as one was with Netflix's Death Note.
I Personally did not like the show and only watched 4 episodes before stopping. I don’t think I liked that other people were also magical. The Addams family is supposed to be the “weird” family in a normal world. So I was expecting that from the show. (Btw you look so pretty in this video!)
That movie referenced where she shows complete disinterest in love, by the end of it she literally kisses the boy through the fence. I loved the adams family as a child and she had always been like that, idk why people are acting like wednesday is not supposed to love at all when it shows her showing the same initial apathy but then later she returns those feelings. It’s not even out of character. 😭
I am honestly so happy that she is going to director season two because before I knew that I probably would have just ignored it's existence especially because I also know her from Scream and X. (Also don't come after me but The 1st couple of seasons of Riverdale was pretty good)
We'll hope to Jenna do justice to Wednesday character in season 2. I feel her so so much, nothing to do this version of Netflix of all the old fans we think it would be, like she said, darker.
“To my younger audience, don’t watch that movie until you’re my age” seeing as you’ve said you’re 19-20 years old, I’d say almost 17 is good enough, so I will watch that tmrw 🎀
As I watched it for the first time I cringed so fast just from the super friendshipy relationship + the love triangle and all the change was just way to quick so I think that if the script had some more connection to her brother with all the changes and confusion just made her call him to tell him everything that’s happening and become closer to him and then make him share not to tell a soul or else she’ll murder him
God bless this woman she knows what's we need I don't balm her for not feeling comfortable about her performance because she was everything to be perfect but I love EVRY bit of it
It makes me like Jenna Ortega more that she spoke up about the show not being true to the character because I’m a HUGE fan of Christina Ricci’s Wednesday and I watched the first episode of Wednesday and hated every minute of it and could not bring myself to watch the rest of the series. I was nervous about having her in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice but now that I know how much she advocated for the true character of Wednesday I’m excited to see what she can bring to the table in a movie that will actually let her stretch her wings and get a bit darker
I liked the show but it always kept annoying me about the "love triangle" omg.. IT WAS BOILING MY SKIN LIKE DID THE WRITERS NOT GO THROUGH WENDY'S CHARACTERS? C'MON 😭
Wednesday Addams only has ever had one actual love interest before this show (to my knowledge), Lucas Beineke from Addams Family: The New Musical. And he was a 'normal boy' who turns out to be just as insane as her family. With the infamous line of, "I can be impulsive! I just need to think about it first!".
I get it. I watched some episodes, and I kept getting that feeling it's a bit less grim than I craved. Especially since I'm older, at 23. I was craving the type of _gory, yet glamorous type of scenes_ like out of AHS Covens show.
Tbh I liked the show I don't want to spoil anything for you Hayley but I will say this, there was some scenes that were like yep that's Wednesday then their were other scenes that were like oh wait a minute Wednesday would do that or Wednesday wouldn't say that. Btw lookin great as ever❤️
I hope all these negative comments don't get her and I see it on other websites too. But the bigger you get, the more people try to be little you, saying "she is not all that" and stuff and "I don't know why people creating hype around her" . Well these haters are people that never been famous before and it just make me want to laugh because I'm like ok, so if these haters ever become famous, they just going to act like perfect angels when others give them hate. It's like these haters know how to act or something and think if the haters are famous, the haters actually going to think there not going to get any hate themselves.
Yeah, the Halo announcer doesn’t even have a recording for the kind of kill streak Hayley is on with these uploads. He gonna have to get into that studio and record a whole ass kill streak recording in her honor!!!😤🔥🔥🔥
My sister and mother were OBSESSED with the show. I have loved Wednesday Adam’s since I was like 7 so I KNOW the character. Wednesday was so out of character, everyone else was too, I hated it.
Enough with clickbait. Of course she does not "hate" Wednesday. I understand that it might sound bitchy to some that she wanted to make changes to a few things, but that's only because she wanted to stay true to the original character! No need for people to call her “toxic" for that, she's not publicly badmouthing individual crew members or anything like that. Besides, she is 20 years old! She's still got things to learn. We all do! Nobody's perfect!
(unpopular opinion if you don’t like my opinion)I won hundred percent love the movie Wednesday but I won thousand percent agree with Jenna because the love triangle really didn’t go well with the movie because we were so focused on the love triangle we were not at all focused on the movie. We were just focus on the love triangle with Wednesday, Taylor and Xavier that we weren’t focus on the movie which kind of really sucks, and I wish it will be a lot more darker because my top three movies are scary movies enemies to lovers and drama movies which I absolutely love and Wednesday was one of my faves, but I really just didn’t love the love triangle. it didn’t suit the movie well and Wednesdays character at all.
I was so excited to have a Wednesday show but it really disappointed me. I wish they made Wednesday not have a love interest, she could of been a perfect aroace character too! She never has shown any interest in romance until this show (except the musical but really the musical?) and it would of been a great place for some aroace rep. Maybe that’s just the representation starved aroace in me but I really feel like she could’ve been perfect for it :/
Their is too ,any bright lights in the WEDNESDAY showi had to pause the show 4 time's bc i have a eye problem that causes me to be a LIIIItle sensitive to lights
the girl who's most famous quote is "wednesday's at that age where she only has one thing on her mind." "boys?" "homicide" has a love triangle? really? edit: i paused the video and made this comment only for you to make the exact same point right after i unpaused it lol
Jenna’s acting was absolutely amazing like i was literally shook and the love triangle is low-key just cheap ngl. im not trying to be mean or anything but when that scene came up in the show, i just skip it. social media DEFINITELY ruined it and i still feel bad (for skipping it).
#1.... YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT. AMAZING. #2YOU LOOK GREAT, YOU FILL THE ROLE... #3 I LOVED THAT SHE DID THAT DANCE IT WAS SO WENSDAY. #4 SHE LEARNED THE CELLO FOR THAT ROLE(so I heard). I am 52 years old and I love this show. Yes, it could have been darker, but today and the way entertainment is now, I feel she was awesome. I know her name and I look for other stuff she has done.
The ppl who wrote the script really thought that Wednesday would say “oh my gosh I love it” when referring to a dress. Even if it was the goth dress they put her in (which I have not complaints abt). It doesn’t make sense for Wednesday to say that. She’s not the kind of character to admit that she likes a dress even if she does. If she likes a dress the most she’ll say is something like “I guess this will do”
Yeah I can say it’s very rare, that Netflix has good movies, the other day, they watched one, called the little things with Denzel Washington, the ending left them baffled, wondering why would he of all people, would play in something like that,he usually makes good movies
I’m a tween but this show really let me down. I prefer the conjuring and scream and I’ve loved the old Wednesday but this version is just- the internet also ruined the song I’ll dance yk yk bc im a gacha/Fnaf fan and abt 2 yrs ago I saw this vid of ballora(a gacha animation) and I always saw it. Now when this song comes on it just makes me cringe internally.
Ironically wensday DID devlop feelings for the guy in the clip from the old films, he was her love interest-but even then it was still in character for her In a way it was lowky played like mortica & gomez expt w wensday being very blunt & nonchalant
bruh the olny adaptation netflix did a good job with was one piece. i mean it was faithful and there is literaly no romance. when they tried to put one in with nami and zoro (because any romance with luffy is out of character.) oda said no. it was made by fans for newcomers, and would not bore old fans with it being completely faithfull to the origional. wensday was such a soap opra.
I grew up with The Addams Family cartoon, and watching the original black and white show, and honestly? I can't stand this new Wednesday show, it's just, I look at it, and I don't see any of what made Wednesday, Wednesday, obviously it was made for a younger audience, but when you're messing with beloved characters, maybe at least try and stay as faithful as you can to the characters themselves, honestly? I always felt like Wednesday wouldn't ever even want to leave home, the family was so close that they didn't like being away from each other, so the decision to move her away from every, single, other member of her family? made zero sense to me, I'm just so glad that I can just try and pretend this doesn't exist, and just stick with the original show and the cartoon, possibly one or two of the live action movies 😅
I was really disappointed in this show, I wanted to see Jenna be in a true horror show. All of the side characters were too kiddy, I really hated it. I hated the werewolf roommate when she brought her claws out, I never cringed so hard. I wanted the story to focus on her and Latina roots, I wanted to see her family more in the show. The dance scene bothered me a lot too, I hate how everyone mocked the emo dancing.
I had an Eureka moment a few days ago where I realized the problem with Wednesday is the tone, it should've been a morbid comedy. They tried to emulate Riverdale, Sabrina the teenage witch and Vampire Diaries when the should have been trying to emulate The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the cowardly dog and Danny Phantom you can have humor and dark plot points. Also I don't get why they sent Wednesday to a monster school if nobody is weird, like the powers don't even matter all that much Also you don't need romance to have a good emotional arc, it could've been about: 1) Wednesday's feelings of being so far away from home, as the Addams have always been portrayed as a close family. 2) Being unsure of how to navigate this new environment, where everyone is so much like her. 3) An inability to know what was a Vision and what was just an impulsive thought, because she does have violent thoughts frequently. 4) Her struggling with her classmates because her family knows how to navigate her behavior but these new people do not, then she learns how to communicate. Also the show should have had Pugsley in it, and get rid of the romance arcs
Let me set this straight.. When I saw watched the show I was flat out disappointed and confused why she was not morbid, I wanted an emotionless aro-ace icon. But she got in a LOVE TRIANGLE she kissed a guy(MONSTERR) too😟 I was just turning 13 when I watched it and I was just like,”ugh” she needed to be A LOT more emotionless for the show to have a larger, more mature audience. I was waiting for a homicide to happen tbh😭😭
But tweens love gore? Most of them, anyways. When I was 10/11, I’d always love it when I’d get a kill in D&D, and my dad explained it in a gruesome, gorey, grotesque, way.
i think what jena and other actors like her (i.e.henry cavill) are trying to say woke hollywood kills the creativity and passion for acting nowadays and more about what they think would sell
