I paid over $800 for a 1 hour concert. Didn’t get to see her face , didn’t get to meet her, and had to leave instantly afterwards… I’ve been a supporter since dollhouse. The frustration is 100% justifiable. We are great full, But we are not getting our moneys worth at all. Those saying all the lights and stuff yeah. It was indoors, air conditioned, and she only had the half mask on her face. She took a lot of breaks and she was fine. The set list that I was given wasn’t even the same as what was played. Very upsetting. I love Melanie but I do not love the bullshit that us fans/supporters are having to deal with. Melanie also said herself in multiple interviews it only takes 1 hour or so to do full costume. For those making excuses for it….

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but hear me out: I sorta get why the concert may be only an hour.. She's preforming basically in full drag & prosthetics, which took her 3-4 hours to fully apply; under hot lights; dancing; and singing... like.. that's A LOT to be constantly doing wearing alllll of that. People's opinions are totally valid and they have every right to feel the way they feel. But, I'm sort of just trying to come from a place of trying to be understanding of everything Melanie is physically doing in order to give you an immersive experience. This may even explain the ai meet and greet; being that she's probably still trying to get finishing touches done before the show and doesn't want the illusion to be shattered by seeing her up close(?). Have you ever seen a Drag Queen in real life? It's a lot different than what you see on TV and whatever you do - DON'T touch their hair XD

I'm a long time melanie fan and I can't go to the tour due to school but this is disappointing there are new fans that have never experience her previous music live and this is what they get. Spending 700 dollars for a one hour concert is a big no no

I’ve been a fan since Crybaby era, and the Denver show a couple weeks ago was the first time I’ve ever actually seen Melanie live. I have to say, the show itself was phenomenal. Short, yeah- but she was in full body prosthetics, dancing and singing under hot ass lights the whole time!!! People were passing out in the pit from the heat before her set even started, I KNOW she was struggling 🫣 I do wish I’d been able to afford to see one of her earlier tours, because they definitely were stronger production-wise. The merch and M&G options for this tour are pretty disappointing too. I wonder how much of the pushback Melanie is even aware of considering how little time she spends online!!

“That was a re-occurring issue!” made me laugh… if there was a vinyl pressing issue, of course it will impact the entire pressing. Wild Honey got super popular because half their album was accidentally pressed onto the b side of someone like Lana Delray.

I think the merchandise is really disappointing and probably the worst part of all this. Some fans claimed that they couldnt even get a refund through her online webstore because it was quite unresponsive. I really hope Melanie addresses some of this, but I also think our support is needed to ensure she can give us the best experiences.

I went and the stage setup was phenomenal. Not saying that's where all the money went but the performances were otherworldly. I spent $260 on my ticket (without fees it was $170) and I cannot tell you how much I do not regret spending that last minute. I was near the front, for that price I'd say it was a great deal. Remember that you're paying for the experience not the seat. It was a magical night I will never forget and cherish forever, definitely worth it for me

I don't know why people says she doesn't sing enough songs, Portals has 16 songs and in K-12 tour, she sings 16 songs too (13 from K-12 and 3 from Crybaby)

Also I don’t think people understand how long the album is. The album itself is literally only around an hour long WITH the deluxe version. So ofc the concert is only going to be an hour long. Also Mel has said before it takes a LONG time to get all those prosthetics on and the costume all together.

I went to her concert recently, paid around 160 for two tickets and honestly I get the 1 hour. Here in Dallas it was HUMID. Me and my boyfriend were sweating and we were only standing. I told him how I could feel the sweat on my back, I don’t know how she pulled through especially because she was dancing so much. Overall we both enjoyed it and had a good night, Mel and her audience were great :)

VIP was supposed to be a full on meet and greet, but a little bit before the release of Portals she had a meet n greet in New York. In which she ended up getting COVID from some one and had to cancel the rest of meet and greets she had that week and from preventing anything like that happening on tour I guess she choose to not do a meet n greet which is totally fine. And if you felt as if your vip package wasn’t it’s worth, should’ve just bought GA. But that’s my opinion

I understand the frustration, but people got to understand that she is in a new era, yes k-12 was a longstanding and heartfelt album for everybody who ever listened to it but as all artists do they grow ! Her song Pluto in the album portals talks about this. She want's to move on. The stress of making a new album that she made herself for years, wanting to finally share it with the world and yet most of the feed back is "BRING BACK CRYBABY" I'm sure keeps Melanie in the shell she wants to break free from. We have to be grateful, we need to have open minds and understanding so we can grow along side her. BEcause Imagine she didn't put out any album ? Imagine she just stopped making music all together ? That would suck way more than not having ANOTHER crybaby album. So please don't be too hard on her. I'm also sure this reason in general probably gave a lot of anxiety throughout because of the fear of "Losing fans" for trying something different. Now I dunno about the other stuff, I would be upset too if my vinal wasn't playing the songs I expected it to lmao.

I think one of my fav concerts of her where the ones where she sang the EP songs as well. It wasnt a big stage like K-12 or had that much production but her, the dancers and crowd looked theyre where having a lot of fun. You saw her jumping around, dancing freely, joking and talking with the crowd, smiling.

I went to her K-12 Tour in 2019 and it was under $300 for 3 Tickets and Parking! We was maybe 10 rows back from her but I had an excellent view of her that I recorded some of on my YT channel. We had over 2hrs of Music AND not only did she do the whole K-12 but she also threw in Cry Baby Songs at the end like Mad Hatter and Dollhouse! It was an excellent experience. I got my signed Album a cpl months back and mine and my daughters we could see, she just used a Gold Sharpie which confused me, she should've went with Silver. I was so defeated when I couldn't afford the Tickets to this years Tour for me and her but watching this I'm glad I didn't this is just devastating wtf....

I’m a big fan of hers for almost 7 years now and this was my first time seeing her ever and she was in Denver. I loved it and wouldn’t change it for another it’s just I wish she sang some of her songs as from her ep, crybaby album, k-12 but it was a BIG memory I was going to watch back and I loved seeing her❤️ Edit: at the concert I have some stomach and back problems so I had to sit on the floor while she was singing some of her songs and the nice people that were worried about me thank you so much but I’m ok now❤️

im going to a show later this month, but it's just a general admission ticket so im not too worried about the criticisms brought up here. but i do hope that Melanie and their management are able to sort these issues out. (also is that really considered an "a.i" meet and greet? it's just a filter that shows a real video the creature on camera, not one generated by a computer)

Y'all actually need to realize that she's busy, she doesn't even control most of the prices, and SHE'S A HUMAN TOO! LISTEN TO "Show and Tell" PEOPLE!!! She doesn't HAVE to do a meet and greet and she certainly doesn't have control over prices. So you guys actually need to cut her some slack. been a fan of Melanie since 2016, I never saw her tour at all and was a little upset when I missed the time to get the tour tickets. Now I'm glad I missed them cause I would've been really damn pissed. I can understand why she doesn't wanna sing Crybaby songs & maybe a little of K-12 but I feel like she could've also done some songs from the afterschool EP. That would've been fire, especially the fact that afterschool is basically portals in a way. But I personally think that Melanie isnt to blame 100% because certain things are not with her control, I don't think she does the vinyls so maybe her teams fault with that & maybe the pricing

i went to the portland concert, and honestly thought it was amazing. she was very active on the stage and under the hot lights and with the prosthetics and makeup it must have been a lot. she played the entire deluxe portals album and it actually felt like longer. the opener came out at 7:30 and i didn’t leave until about 9:30-10ish. i personally think it was good. although i didn’t get vip and think that she should have done an in person not ai and the price should have been less. but like i paid 60 for general admission floor and thinking was very much worth that if not more.

A concert isn’t about how long it is or meeting the artist, it’s about listening to them sing live y’all should be glad you even get to go.

I'm a hardcore melanie stan and idrk how to feel. It doesn't really bother me knowing she didn't perform songs from past albums because most of my fave songs of hers are on portals, but I get how some long term fans might be upset. Idk, the meet & greet thing is kinda weird.. my guess is that there wouldn't have been enough time for her to get into that whole costume AND meet many fans so she planned that out in advance?? I still think she should've let us know in advance tho. anyways, I love her to death and am very happy for her. She spent a lot of years working on all of this so I think fans shouldn't be rude about it, while still giving out their criticism. I just hope she's happy, healthy, and having fun with this new era.

It honestly makes me really sad to see some of her "fans" treating her like show and tell; she shouldn't have to take off her costume just so you can have a longer concert 😔 I hate that some of you feel that way. possibly an unpopular opinion but i bought the portals cd with the signed art card, and I saw the signature perfectly. not only that but shes doing an ai meet and greet because she needs her prosthetics to be put on. And she’s also doing her deluxe album for the portals tour also. And she said in interviews that she can’t really talk with the prosthetic so that’s why it’s probably one hour for the tour.

I went to a Melanie Martinez concert for the portals tour 2 days ago and I understand why it’s only a hour, (my mom only paid 250 for tickets btw) there’s props, a big screen for extra scenery, and the background dancers are putting a lot of work into putting on a show as well, Melanie is wearing prosthetics and a detailed outfit, and she took some breaks in between some songs and it didn’t feel rushed at all also, Melanie had a time limit at the location (I think).

Aren’t the resellers the reason why her tickets are so expensive compared to her k-12 and crybaby tours? PS. Why are people mad about it being an hour, it’s not like it was a surprise or anything. Anyone who payed for that should have known that portals itself was one hour, so that’s kinda funny to complain about. Would’ve been cool if she incorporated other songs though, if people are mad abt it, but it’s a PORTALS tour. Like, a tour for PORTALS. But idk, i’ve never went to a tour before 🤷‍♀️

PLZ READ (I KNOW ITS QUITE LONG BUT ITS WORTH IT) I understand what these people are complaining about, but some of these are totally arguable. One thing for certain, nowhere in the VIP package did it say "meet and greet". Maybe Mel felt bad that she didn't have the time to meet every individual because of the time is takes for the prosthetics, choreography, mic check, outfit and makeup, etc, so she made up for it with the virtual photo for people to have some sort of photos of this era for memories or friends, etc. Also the people who bought the VIP package new exactly what they were getting and they still paid for it, and I'm pretty sure general tickets were 90$ max for one ticket.The show being an hour long is because she said she doesn't like going back to the old songs because she has to keep returning to what she was evolving from in the first place. I understand that fans grew up with crybaby, but eventually we all grow up and move on to new phases in life, and so is Melanie, not only in her music but as she stated before, as a human as well. The whole issue with the vinyls and the merch is definitely a production error. I don't think any of it had to do with Mel, like the production and manufacturing of the CDs and vinyls or the shirts, she just had the designs and had the manufacturer produce them and I don't think they did them correctly which may explain why there were so many hiccups in the merchandise.Not all artists get to pick what the prices are for their tickets, PLUS people buy them and resell for x4 the price!! Melanie is still getting used to performing with the prosthetics, example being how she used only half of the prosthetics for the Denver tour. I think she played the older songs during the lollapalooza because IT WAS THE LOLLAPALOOZA. I understand that the signed CDs may be a let down, but if it took so long then it is pretty strong to assume she DID sign them by hand, and I think the signatures look weird because of the sharpie colors. I understand that people want an explanation from Mel, but she is still having to deal with tours and making the music videos, AND the movie still has to be made. People keep comparing the portals tour to the k-12 one, yet they are different. She had the funding ahead of the release of k-12, but she didn't for portals. Along with saying how other artists played old songs, as a fan of Melanie you know she has clearly stated that she and the storyline line along with crybaby are evolving, which means she won't play older songs because she not only has every right to do so, but also want to move forward.She has explained that she hasn't had the funding for the movie, which could mean that her along with her team don't have enough funding from her record label to do everything Mel and been able to do in the past with the other era's tours.These people have every reason to voice their opinions or frustrations, but at least try and see where Melanie is coming from. She's Definitely trying to make this era a more interactive and immersive one with all the little props and the crybaby shrine, etc. One thing I wish she would have done was make the tour a virtual one like the "can't wait till I'm out of k-12" tour because it would be less stressful for everyone. Having people just pay for the tickets and watch the live stream for their date of choice would be easier and I think fun because of the sets, camera angles, dancers, etc. Was this tour perfect? No. Could it be better? Absolutely. At the end of the day we are fans should be thankful that we're able to experience this little world Mel shares with us because we all as fans relate to her as a person as well as her music. I know personally that change can be hard, especially for die hard fans, but Mel is evolving and no matter what whether you agree or not she will do what she feels is right for her. Of course some of these things Mel has control over, but most she doesn't. Those who were disappointed have a valid reason to be upset but just be grateful that you got to experience the tour and I hoped they enjoyed most of it ❤️.

After reading other comments, I'm 100 percent sure that the original presale ticket prices were all around 100 dollars or less, and there was NO MENTION of a meet and greet in the VIP package. So whoever is mad about that either didn't do their research and just assumed there would be a meet and greet and they must've gotten tickets that ticketmaster or resellers changed the price on. Don't start telling lies about the ticket prices and benefits just because you wanted something that was never promised. When I get vip I never expect a meet and greet but ig y'all do.

I love all the people in the comments saying "you're just entitled!!!" Apparently getting what you paid for - an actual meet & greet - is entitlement these days. These people paid for something, and then didn't get it. You can't make them out to be the bad guys.

I'm really upset and super glad I didn't spent hundreds on these tickets. I love melanie. I got lucky with the k-12 tour and got the tickets cheap. I was ready with my money for this album but alot of shit stopped me that day from getting the tickets. Almost like a sign from the universe letting me know it's fucked up and I won't be happy.

I absolutely love Melanie since the very beginning, but when I saw her in concert in 2016 she instantly left after singing a few songs, didn't even say one sentence to the audience and to us it felt like she didn't even want to be there. In my 30+ concerts I've been to, I've never felt as unwelcomed as at this one, so I decided to only enjoy her art from home now. Some of the clips of her concerts do look pretty awesome tho and I just felt like maybe going to a concert again when I find this video😅😅

Since no one is offering valid solutions to fix this (as far as I’ve seen) I’m gonna list some: 1. The hour long concert. Even with the deluxe, it’s only an hour ten even though the K-12 and Crybaby tours had shows up to almost two hours. For this tour, Melanie is performing back to back songs, whether it’s for the transitions or otherwise, while the other tours had interludes in between the songs for costume changes, set changes, maybe a break, and adding more depth to the whole concert. If Melanie did this for this tour, the shows would be longer and overall a more enjoyable experience. The backup dancers could dance in the background while maybe the stems of the previous song play, or right before she’s about to come out the transition starts playing. That way people actually get a show that’s worth the money and a more immersive experience. 2. The AI meet and greet. I honestly cannot offer any solution here other than Melanie actually going up to meet fans so… 3. The merch. Maybe the signature is visible at first, but then it fades away during shipping or something. I would just tell her and her team to make sure the signature stays visible or to sign in a place where the signature is definitely viewable. As for the VIP package, and I’m not saying they’re obligated to do these things, but they could add like charms (like for bracelets) or keychains with the theme of the album. I wouldn’t recommend putting an actual mushroom in the package but I don’t know, whatever will make people happy. As for the vinyls, I’m just gonna say that they need to check the records now, just to make sure it doesn’t start playing not Melanie. 3. The set design. K-12 and Crybaby had a lot of props, set changes, and background changes. Portals doesn’t have that, only a huge mushroom and a screen that stays the same as well as fog and lights. I get that some venues are smaller than others and I’ve only seen the full video of the Denver show, so I don’t know how big the Utah venue was, but the Denver one was small, the stage, from what I saw, was barely big enough to fit the dancers, mushroom, and Melanie, let alone a bunch of props. But maybe with added interludes and costumes that are easy to take off, the team could move stuff onto the stage while Melanie is changing, amount of props depending on how big the stage at the certain venue is. Also, the choreography. I know that Melanie is under that heavy costume and prosthetics, but even I have to admit that the choreography is very minimal. Most of the time she is walking around and jumping, while the background dancers are the ones carrying the choreography. I don’t know how much she can do under that whole suit, and should she start doing costume changes, the outfits could be heavier and choreography less doable. However, I feel like more choreo is something she can do as at Lalapalooza, she was jumping and dancing and while she was not singing as strongly when she was doing that, it was definitely more entertaining. Okay I’m done I’m sorry I wasted so much time lol. If you want to reproduce this on social media, since I don’t have an account, you can and just hope Melanie will consider it.

Tbh i agree with the fans at 400$ for an one hour portals only, becoz even myself will like, damn man, expensive, like 400$ are like worth it for including real meet and greet, and 1 or 2 albums. But still, i don't blame these people, because there a diffreneces of Dissapointed and Hate, like some people hate melanie because of that

I feel like Mel is doing her best plus a lot of second hand companies were buying her tickets and selling them for higher prices. And 1hr isn’t bad honestly she has a full body prosthetic on, dancing and singing. Plus she said she wasn’t sing K-12 anymore it’s a new chapter. The AI thing mostly same reason I don’t agree with the prices but honestly just be lucky y’all got tickets to see her!! I couldn’t even get anything! An AI meet & greet is so crazy af to me. It’s low key rude to the fans like gives me such a vibe of “ I don’t care”.. maybe that’s just me but it feels exploitative (taking $$ from fans) to not even meet them in real life basically taking $ from fans to give them something they could have got for free.. & especially in this economy when everyone is struggling af to pay basic necessities.. so people been saving their money to see her & she can’t even be bothered to meet them? Melanie has full on LAYERS of clothing, body paint, and latex on so she probably sweating and she can barely see 2.)portals is only 1 hr and 3 min 3.) Also the vip package came with the tote, poster, keychain, landward vip, early entrance & early accesss to the merch booth! So it came with a lot!

Okay I think I know a reason why her shows are short or the songs are slightly sped up I think it is because the prosthetic/Costume she is wearing might be difficult/uncomfortable to wear and it takes a somewhat long time to put on and the Ai Melanie picture in the VIP experience is probably because in that time when the people who purchased the VIP experience she could be putting on the prosthetics/costume and getting ready for the show but they could definitely put on before the People who bought the VIP experience come there but I could be completely wrong about this so please tell me if I am incorrect and have a nice day/night❤

And as a kpop fan, I'm used to groups making a 1hr 30 min setlist last 3 hours, but this is my first non-kpop concert so idk if 1 hour for a 1 hour setlist is terrible ir not?

I’ve been a fan from The Voice days like you said in the video. I was considering seeing her in concert for this tour since I’ve never seen her before, but changed my mind after finding out her setlist is only an hour long, and she’s not performing songs from the Crybaby Era 🫤. Also it would be nice to see her face instead of the prosthetics. Hopefully she’ll grow tired of it eventually 🤣. Anyways let see if things will improve for the next future tour. Still love her though.

I’ll drive the 3 hours to see her because I want her to keep making music she truly inspires me and many others!!! She also comes off of stage and meets everyone no matter what ticket. She’s done it many times.

I was at the Portland show a couple nights ago and it was awesome, the VIP experience was a little lacking but being in the front was totally worth it, the length of the concert was not an issue, it felt a lot longer than it was and no Melanie did not rush through it…

And there's more stuff that's happened after the portals tour, one girl ordered the ceramic coasters from her site (1yr anniversary release) and recieved an empty box, and melanies team couldn't reship her a new set since they sold out and so refunded her. Also, people have received their packages but with broken cassettes or broken coasters as well as very badly cracked CDs . People have also been saying their packages have shipped but never arrived. The team also made a mix up on the website with the two pink cassettes so people have been recieving ones they didn't want (but the team is fixing this by sending them the right one free of charge) on the bright side, koi footwear has given hints that they may restock Mel's shoes (Felipe with a bow post).

I think a lot of people are confusing resellers ticket prices for the original prices. For instance I’ll be going to the trilogy tour and I spent $280 on each ticket and the seats are great! I highly doubt that the tickets were originally being sold for $700+ like some people are saying 😅

I went to her concert yesterday, so what if it was short? I had the time of my life. Only none real fans would sell their tickets if they don't like portals you have to like the experience.

She literally wears an outfit that she sweats in for hours. Not only, she’s under lights which contains heat. Not only, she’s also singing untop of all of that and dancing. Lot of work. The one hour concert is sad but if your gonna complain then don’t buy them. Your not forced to buy tickets so don’t buy them if you have a problem. Melanie fans who really want to see her will see her.

I was supposed to go to her k-12 concert in 2020 but she canceled. I bought tickets for her portals tour thinking it would be similar to k-12 but maybe even better. But when I found out yesterday that she wasn't playing any of her old songs I literally got so upset. Because not only did her tickets cost more this tour, but I had to buy tickets in a neighboring state since the cheapest tickets near me were $140 each... So not only am I traveling to a different state to see her, but also going to a concert that is an hour long for an out of state drive. I loved mel since 2016 and my dream was to always hear dollhouse live. Even my boyfriend was excited to hear her old songs too but now I'm just upset.

Aha so thankful I went to see Melanie Martinez in denver when she First came up during the cry baby tour. I only paid 40 bucks at that show to see her perform and got to met her and she signed my ticket. Wow, crazy, how people really do change after they come up in this industry.

If she did the meet and greet after performance, maybe she's tired or needed to take of the prosthetic. If i am being honest i dont see her change her shows in the future. I went to the K-12 Tour and i liked most of the songs. However, 13 songs is not a long concert. My biggest issue wasnt even Melanies performance. It was pretty much impossible to see her because so many people recorded the whole show. She also did not say a single word that wasnt in a song. I dont ask for much but a Hello or anything at all would have been nice. Worst concert i have been to. I actually was glad it was over which is insane considering i liked the songs so much. Idk also a lot of kids in the crowd.
