Was so hoping we would land Curiso and pie in the sky LM from Jazz. But we did get better. Now let's get Luka healthy. Offense 90% Luka, Irving, Klay, Liv, Naji, Grimes, Hardy & PJ. Defense focus: PJ, Grimes, Naji, OMax, Liv, Gafford, Maxi & Exum. Just looks like Powell and Morris just doesn't bring anything to the court for production. Lawson give him opportunity in G league and early season if he's productive keep him if not trade him at dead line for backup point if we don't find one now.
We really need OMax to fill the role of Maxi, hopefully he can first be a lock down defender, second hit 3 around 35% and play with great energy. With Grimmes, Exum, Naji, PJ and OMax hopefully they will all embrace a hardcore D dog attitude on the D side for covering point of attack and the best 3D wings in the league. The have Liv, Gafford and unfortunately Powell and Maxi as the 3rd and 4th backup center behind Liv and Gafford.
He already fills Maxi's role. We just need infant Kidd to be a real coach for a change and give him minutes. Its painful watching Maxi's flat shot so the sooner the better! Plus Maxi is always injured anyways so whays the point
@@highimwolf Kidd is a good coach, look what he did with Lively. He’s taking it slowly, OMax wasn’t ready to just be thrown in there with high expectations. Let him grow.
Yeah very true but they are hoping that hardy has a year 3 Green like impact season. And they will be lucky if Omax does next year as well. Both Hardy (can be a much better shooter) and Omax has potential to be a more impactful player than Green. But odds are 50/50 at best it happens. That's why I'm leaning toward just signing the Flynn point guard who was never heard of before his 50 point game. Apparently he's a pretty good 3rd ball handler and he won't be whining or jealous when he doesn't get much playing time(most probably). This then gives those minutes that Dinwiddie(not DSJ) would be getting to Hardy. Then they "Can Find Out" by the TDL if he's a rotation guy or not. Omax has to show improvement. can't have those dear in the headlights driving 110 MPH to the basket, not knowing what to do with it once there. Turn it over usually. But he has the hustle and want too. And supposed to have the ability. So it might take longer but might be well worth the wait. But he still has to show improvement over last year or he's out the door. No excuse to come back with those dear in the headlights. which Hardy was a straight up drive and lay it up or get it blocked guy his first season, he learned to pass it instead of dumbly getting blocked half the time. So I expect at least that much improvement.
20:59 I was married in 1997. My daughter was born in 2000. The first time I realized how bleeping old I was, is when I went to the park to play pick up basketball and all the guys I was playing with said they were born in 1989. 😮 That's the year I graduated from HS. 🙄 I was in my latter 30s at the time.
I know it's easier to do corner 3's, but do you think O-Max should work on "above the break" 3s? I know it's further out, but the Celtics covered the corners and few guys are good at those longer distance 3s.
Sounds like OMax is a project. There was debate about Lively and OMax and who would make rotation first. Lively has already left his impression in the playoffs and rode it to all the way to finals.
The way it is with the rookie/young player conveyor belt, is that if you can't crack the rotation by the third summer league, you are now just blocking the path of the players next in line. With the Mavs making it to the NBA finals, that bar is now meaningful minutes in the playoffs. Is Jaden Hardy going to be in the summer league? He is also on the clock. If O-Max and Melvin outshine Hardy and Lawson in the summer league, the latters' Mavs futures will be thrown into jeopardy.
No way to tell. Just don't go the Hardy Party thing prematurely again. I thought Hardy was straight THJ chucker when the party was going on(and that's all he really was) But I seen him improve his overall game so maybe next season the hardy party can actually commence. But it's a 50/50 shot at best. Which is fine enough numbers for me. But yeah def not something that allows a mind to pretend it's already reality. Only Hot Tub time Machines can get you those answers.
Is O-Max really 6'7? He does look taller. Mavs needed a 6'9-ish that could defend and shoot to replace Kleber. Sure, D-Live might start shooting the 3 more but even so, Mavs need another one.
Wb the 7’5 rookie from ole miss? He seems like a great rim protector, very good defender, high iq and can pass…. It wouldn’t hurt to have 2 Lively’ on the roster, even if it takes a lil time to devlop
Hey Nick, A podcaster attributes Melvin's 2nd round grade out due to his short reach (6'7" wingspan), and that, if it were better, he would have been a top 15 pick. What do you think? Wait and see?
Omax needs and is worth developing…Hardy is another case. Don’t think Hardy’s mental maturity is ready to be a rotation player on a championship contending team. Don’t know if he’ll ever be ready. Physically he has it.
OMax seems to have an unusually rough gait for a basketball player. Not a smooth gait like star players. Hope it ultimately translates into an asset for him and not a detriment.
Especially at the beginning of the season, O max should get ALL Maxi’s minutes Maxi should be the third string PF, hanging out in the bench with his buddy Dwight
I am a fan of OMax but dude needs to hit the weights. Being fit as he looks is great but dude has no shoulders. To be a good defender he needs some muscle mass at his position.
DJJ defense overrated, not enough to offset the lack of offense. Can’t hit 3s consistently, and when he attacks, doesn’t have the midrange short jumper or floaters, everything to the rim challenging bigs and getting stuffed. So disappointing. You see opponents like Shari or da fox stop and get automatic 2, it was frustrating to watch.
All of the mavs fans who are acting like maxi sucks just get me so mad. They’re just so annoying lol. They just look at box score and think that’s all that matters. It’s not like maxi was apart of the best lineup for the mavs last year or anything
It's nice that so many of the podcasters can get a sponsor due to companies like Fanduel. Then you think about the fact that it's a company that makes it's profits by conning people who can't afford to lose money into losing their money. Then it gives that money to podcasters to recruit a new crop of suckers to lose their money. Hard pass.....
Mavs fans need a reality check… O-Max is not playing next season, nor should he. Hardy is going into his 3rd year and he still hasn’t proven he deserves or can handle consistent meaningful mins. Last season O-Max didn’t even look like a real NBA player in garbage mins against other garbage min players. Expecting him to go from that to getting rotation mins is asking to be disappointed.
@@WSquaredSports being hopeful that it happens is not the same that as expecting it to happen. I am hopeful that 1 day I will win the lotto, but that doesn’t mean I expect it when I get the ticket. If you’re expecting the 21-22 year old 2nd year player to make that big of a leap.. than yes you need a reality check
@@Dzad00 I mean, I think the general vibe of the whole video is that it’s hopeful. No one is expecting him to be awesome or a sure thing. The video with Reggie the other day they were chatting about how there’s a solid chance OMax isn’t in the rotation at all. Basically giving up on the kid is kinda crazy though. Guys don’t play much their rookie year and turn into solid and great NBA players pretty frequently ex: Alex Caruso, Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, Derrick White, etc.
@@richardcase9165 Well if you think O-Max is better than DP and Maxi bc they mis a lot in layup lines, than you must think O-Max is also better than Luka since he misses a lot too bc all he does he trick shots
Depends on what you mean by sold. Am I 100% sure OMax can develop and be a good NBA player? Definitely not. But I think in terms of guys who in “theory” could be a great fit with Luka, he could be that. Rangey 6-8ish forward who can switch everything, knock down an open shot, etc. basically can he become PJ Washington-esque with even more defensive potential
