Does Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Suck? 

My biggest complaint was that it was a "faithful """REMAKE"""". Let's be honest, it's a clone. It's a graphically upgraded clone. There is "nostalgia", and then there is playing the same game again. I played until after the league and then quit with a bad feeling. When BDSM came out, there were already almost 1000 Pokemon... yet we still fought the same 10 Pokemon over and over again against every trainer.

Someone else put it best, did they really think we've all been replaying Diamond and Pearl these past 13 years? No we've been replaying Platinum. They fucked up the Gen 3 remakes, and they fucked these up too. At this point, I don't even care for BW remakes, BW2 will still be better, and it's sad, but I can say that with complete certainty. Pokémon has died for 10 years now, all they do anymore is beat it's rotting corpse, like with these.

I love Gen 4 and Sinnoh I grew up with it and I recently played Platinum for the first time and even though I find Platinum and most 3rd versions to be overrated (or down right bad in the case of the ultra games) I had practically the same experience as Pearl, however I did see how it improved over the originals. So to see that BDSP didn't include anything from Platinum unlike other remakes did with there 3rd versions is disappointing to say the least. That's ultimately how I feel about Shining Pearl it's a big disappointment. Imo it's worse than the original DP in most regards.

I enjoyed it. Diamond was my first mainline Pokèmon game. I was especially glad that they (mostly) nailed the remastered soundtrack. I remember I used to fall asleep with the DS by my pillow so I could listen to some of the songs. But let's be honest. This BDSP was closer to a remaster than a true remake. Other than the Grand Underground, it didn't innovate on the originals. That's why, to me, the games are DECENT, but not GREAT. And when you said that this was their only shot, it hit me. Gen 4 is still my absolute favorite. I think it really deserved to be great.

Breakable TMs were the proverbial straw that convinced me to skip these games.

Having never had played a old Pokemon game and only experienced arceus I absolutely loved this game and how “it was the exact same game” as the old ones so I could actually experience them in a way. I feel that if u have never played Pokemon then this is probably one of the best. But I can see how as a returning fan it’s bad

HMs are good in theory but they keep giving that status to otherwise useless moves that not many mons can learn. Clover did it mostly right

I'd like to say knowing what is a 'viable Pokemon', for beating mainline Pokemon game story, isn't as important. It's not competitive battles, you can beat the game fine with almost every Pokemon, and it's honestly lot more fun in-terms of coming up with a strategy with more 'uncommon' Pokemon that people use. Or using moves that aren't STAB, if for the Physical/Special split doesn't favor it's typing and it's stats. This applies to even Generation 1, all the way to current generations. Like I remember playing through Pokemon Diamond myself in it's cart recently, I beat Cynthia's Garchomp with my Lopunny. Though as I've noticed Gen 4 does have a problem of lacking in Fire-types, which is true. And I think it sucks that BDSP got subpar remakes. If they go back to Johto, be it Let's Go or others, I wish they would actually expand more than what Heart Gold and Soul Silver. I like Gen 2, but there's noticably lack of.. 'Flair'? Or perhaps further polish of Johto as a whole, even if there's alot of overall features that add more replayability.

The thing with Metroid Prime is, Nintendo wanted the series one and for all dead. And Prime should be an excuse for it why we don't get no new games after this this "failure", problem it was a huge success. One ex retro studio guy said, Nintendo don't cared about the Metroid Prime project. And the whole Situation was super weird, because they had little no commication with Nintendo.

I was sceptical the moment the game was directed by Masuda. I know Masuda made the originals, but its still Masuda who doesn't understand anything what the fans like but Music. It's kinda weird how awful these remakes are. From the design it seemed like its going to be a cheap and easy to develop game... they still failed. I hate DP so I hoped when remakes were announced they would take all the good stuff and make it better. Tho I gave up on it after SwSh came out so I never had any hopes for the remakes. The only reason I am forced to play them is to get certain items because I can't bare erasing my Platinum File and HGSS I still have some good items to trade over. The only way I can get some kind of fun is either I trade over useful Pokemon that aren't in Sinnoh like a Fire Punch Hitmonchan OR I use glitches like in RBY and get Pokemon that I aren't suppose to obtain. Like Darkrai, Shaymin, early Cresselia or Arceus. Even then its minimal. I don't know how many trainers have half a team full of just 1 Pokemon. 3 Roselia, 3 Geodude, 3 Goldeen, 6 Magikarp, 3 Bidoof, 3... 3... 3... Bronzel... they are awful and slow. btw, jokes on you. Gamefreak even see Legends Arceus as a throwaway title as they announced a new generation just 1 month after Legends Arceus got released. It kinda annoys me because I was already in defense they were rushing that game and know I know why. We are getting 3 Major released in 1 year, and yes these new gen games are coming out this year.

Honestly my main issue with these remakes is that they didn't want to pick a lane when it came to how faithful to the originals they should be because even if the end product still was mediocre at least it would be consistent.

Gen 4 was so FORGETABLE. by the time I got the remakes. I pretty much went in 100% BLIND as I couldn't remember a single thing about it. I forgot chimchar even existed or that he was a starter. I didn't even finish the game. I completed the pokedex. got the national dex before I even attempted to do the league.

After all, most of the really dedicated players are going to buy both (or all three, or all four) main line games in every generation at full price and all of its DLC regardless of quality. Me, the only Pokemon games I've ever had are Blue, Yellow, and X and it's probably going to stay that way.

Even though I personally don’t like the state of the gen 4 remakes I always keep asking the same question every time someone brings up that these games didn’t contain platinum content. And that question is. Why should they? None of the other remarks add content from their respective third version game. Fire red and leaf green didn’t have any of Pokémon yellow’s content, Hart gold and soul silver didn’t have any crystal content, and omega ruby and alpha sapphire didn’t have any emerald content. So why should gen 4 remakes have platinum content when none of the other three remakes had third version content? I don’t like BDSP for many reasons. But not having platinum content (even though platinum was my FIRST Pokémon game I EVER played!) isn’t one of them. It would be a valid argument if all the other remakes had content from their generations third version but they didn’t. So I never expected gen 4 remakes to have platinum content because why should I expect them to? None of the other ones got this type of content so why should they get it?!

I played gen 1 as a 5 year old so I may or may not be a bit older of a Pokefan... but I do love gen 4's music and Pokemon a helluva lot. I'm actually not very nostalgic for my starting gen. I actually like gen 2 and 4 the most. I appreciate 5's story but though the starters sucked ass and that there were a lot of hideously bad Pokemon designs mixed in with some really good ones, but the good ones were often late or post game.. Not to mention, why the fuck does everything have to evolve at level 50+ in those games? That was a so god damn aggravating for me. Ahem, I'm rambling now.

My only gripe with this game is that this game is SOOOOOO SLOWWW. It takes forever to get from place to place.

I think I encountered 1 glitch and it actually made me kinda upset. I wanted to use Scizor because it was what I used during my first playthrough of Sinnoh and when I traded with a friend and got it back it just didnt learn bullet punch. They told me they taught it bullet punch but it just didnt learn it once it was traded back. I had to heartscale it back but it kinda turned me off from the game. It was small in the grand scheme of things and I later learned it was a common glitch when HoodlumScrafty mentioned it in his video about glitches he encountered but its just something that turned me off from the game. Tbh I think that was just an excuse for me to drop the game thinking about it more. I wasnt enjoying myself. I didnt enjoy my time playing this game, I got bored and maybe I was just looking for an excuse to drop the game.
