yeah I think the CW is possibly to CRM like what Alexandria was to negan and the saviors. they pay their tribute to keep the CRM off their backs by offering up people for them to take and do god knows what to them. that'd be pretty messed up but would be interesting to see.

I think you're mistaken about the Commonwealth's structure. It's a collection of communties numbering at around 50,000, not just one giant community. Although there is definitely one larger central community that the others are built around in a network.
@bishbosh4815
@bishbosh4815 Год назад
Well the show disappointingly only shows us the same community, and a very little part of it. While I commend TWD crew for building the whole Commonwealth town square set on the same location as the Prison and the Sanctuary, I can't understand why they couldn't find other filming locations and show us more than just that one place. Nearly every scene in the Commonwealth was in that same square with the train tracks behind it, in the train station, and different offices and apartments. We never saw or even hinted at the other communities in the Commonwealth like the one on a lake, never saw the stadium (I think Lance mentions it in 11x11) and there's some propoganda and maps they occasionally show (there's actually more great stuff BTS that they never showed on the show), but that's all we get. That coupled with the fact we only ever saw max 100 extras out of a 50,000 population and we only started to get CGI wide shots of the whole city in 11C all contributed to the Commonwealth feeling MUCH smaller than it did in the comics and never getting a real sense of scale, it just felt like Woodbury

@@bishbosh4815 the show did such a good job at expanding the saviors too! in the comics, different buildings don’t exist. negan doesn’t have a board team of his “top guys” like simon and dwight, and we never see the deals in the comics (with other groups like kingdom or hilltop) so it’s just unfortunate

I had this theory. What if Lance or someone else calls for help from CRM, if they do trade together? What if they send some soldiers and one of them ends of being Rick? Just a quick glance, maybe the soldier takes off the mask and everyone sees it's Rick then the episode ends. OR What if the way we see CRM again is Jadis returning and shows up in a helicopter in the final episode then tells everyone about Rick being alive but needing their help? I'd love that. So maybe we don't see Rick, besides a post credit scene but i think that'll be great to see

Yes thank you so much for calling out the serious problem with the show's Commonwealth! It feels so small, it looks like a ghost town during Covid. I had the same questions. Where are their walls? How big is their land? Where do they grow their food? Where are the hundreds of extras in the streets? Why can't we see more streets and exterior shots for this community that's stated to have 50,000? I sadly think it's the terrible budget that AMC gives the show. This was the most impressive community visually in the comics but AMC once again goes the cheap route and only does the bare minimal for their flagship shows final season. Totally shameful. Also the Commonwealth had other branches like Greenville in the comics but they never address the other branches or outposts they have in the show?

My personal theory of what could maybe happen- (this ended up being really damn long and I sorta started making it up as I went along at a certain point, was fun to type up tho) mine is actually kinda similair to yours when it comes to the leadership but I did make that part of this a while before I watched this video so it isn't copied, it's actually coincidental, also all of this is just like pain points, there's a load of stuff that could happen on top of what I've laid out, this is just the skeleton is that the common wealth and crm have some form of pact where they exchange stuff to keep good faith between the 2 nations and that due to the quite intense political instability within the commonwealth and in fact further supporting that, the outright rebellion that seems to be brewing suggests that the leadership shall be overthrown, so if the leadership is overthrown and the pact that prevents the crm from just viewing the commonwealth as something to eliminate rather than something that can benefit them is with the previous corrupt leaders, then perhaps when the crm hears that the leadership has been overthrown within the commonwealth they set up a meeting to attempt to establish the same pact with the new leadership, except, it turns out this pact requires they do something incredibly immoral (trading people is what I'm thinking makes the most sense considering how the crm seems to make that exact deal with Jadis and has a whole system for people being traded in also because of the vast missing persons list that seems to point back to the commonwealth leadership doing shady business behind the scenes and finally as a supplementary, the commonwealth would be about the biggest pool of people the crm could take from making them a desirable community to do business with) but due to this new leadership no longer being made up of the corrupt political figures it was before (I'm thinking characters like mercer and Maggie could end up in those roles after becoming part of a coup to take the Miltons out of power) they refuse to make the deal, after fighting to take the people out of under the thumb of political corruption, the idea of putting them back under that same oppression disgusts them and immediately sets them off to the fact that the crm is bad news, at which point they immediately start planning and send people to try and feel out how strong the crm really is (with at least one of those characters being someone who knows Rick, I'm thinking Daryl as it wouldn't be a contrivance [at least not one beyond a reasonable suspension of disbelief] as tracking, especially a task as important as this one also considering the fact that Daryl is within the commonwealth military anyway makes him an obvious choice and setup for later in my little theory) at which point they make the discovery that the crm vastly outnumbers them and possibly has superior technological advancements (I think this is likely due to the fact that we see the crm traveling in cars and helicopters while the commonwealth is traveling with horses) at this point they realise that a fight against them would be suicide but also, part of their mission to try and gain as much Intel on them as possible they attempt to listen into their radio broadcasts, they do this for a while as it would be a stupid contrivance if they just briefly listened in and heard what I'm thinking they could hear, obviously they don't expect anything of importance as the crm would obviously predict they would attempt such a move, but what they do hear, what Daryl hears... is Rick's voice, he could be saying anything routine, it doesn't matter, all that matters is that Rick's voice is what comes through that crm radio broadcast, and that is how Daryl discovers Rick is alive and a high ranking member of the crm (the broadcast could suggest from what he's saying that he holds alot of power within the crm and knows about their inner workings) now, I think its fairly clear that the crm doesn't know of Rick's original communities, I can see Jadis withholding that info as a last favour as she clearly grew to care for people such as gabriel before she left so the crm would have no knowledge of Rick's attachment to these new leaders within the commonwealth, and considering his position of power, it seems logical that he would hear who it was that was now running the commonwealth and provoking the crm, now, there's no way on earth that the commonwealth could beat the crm as they are, but, if they had a man on the inside who is in a position of power, who could feed them information and allow them to gain a massive advantage, they may stand a chance, I'm thinking that since now Rick knows that his loved ones are running the commonwealth and the main cast now knows that Rick is high up in the crm, they logically will both be searching for ways to contact one another, I'm thinking Rick may at that point have people he personally is close to and trusts fully and since anyone could listen into a radio broadcast, I'm thinking Rick sends someone he trusts from the crm to the commonwealth with a letter and establishes communication with the commonwealth and that is how he begins to warn them of any moves the crm attempts to pull, and a single man can move faster than an entire army, making the information travel faster than the enemy, of course I think it's likely that eventually this gets found out, at which point I'm thinking the messenger shall be captured leading to a crm attack being successful with no warning, which shall be an absolute massacre, hopefully with some major character deaths to give it impact as its the final season, now's the time to have major characters dying a whole lot more, I pray they don't pull a GOT season 8 and screw it up, anyway, I'm thinking that the main group that now runs the commonwealth will immediately know that Rick's sabotage has been found out, at which point I think they'll send a radio message down a relay to the crm to warn Rick to get out of there, at which point Rick will flee the crm and make his way to the commonwealth, at which point we will finally get Rick reuniting with everyone, after this however, things shall be looking mighty grim, I'm thinking that Jadis will also be brought into question as the crm will of course put 2 and 2 together and realise she has an association with the leadership of the commonwealth, I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being her undoing, I'm thinking after all this, the crm will just decide that the longer this takes the more disadvantageous their position becomes since they have no clue if anyone else could be allied with the enemy they decide to launch an attack that no matter how much forewarning the commonwealth gets they can't stop, an all out assault on the commonwealth with everything they have in an attempt to simply kill everyone there, this could be where the series ends, a cliffhanger to be resolved in the Rick Grimes movies

I think they did fail with bringing the Commonwealth to screens. I think the characters of Lance, Mercer, Sebastian and Pamela were perfectly cast and acted, they may have even been an improvement of their comic counterparts, Lance especially who is barely a character in the comics but one of the main antagonists on the show, but in terms of the Commonwealth itself and the characterisation of these characters in terms of their backstory and motivations, it's very surface level. It's never entirely clear how big the Commonwealth is, what the people at the top want and exactly what their plans are. Of course we see how Pamela is powerhungry and a typical politician, sitting pretty in luxury while being oblivious to the suffering of the people and what others are doing under her nose, Lance is driven by greed and control, he wants to make something for himself and earn the admiration of Pamela, Mercer is responsible for the safety of 50,000 people and while he knows what the elites are doing is wrong, he is a man of duty and loyalty, making him one of the more complex and conflicted characters, especially when we learn Max, Eugene's girlfriend, is his sister, and Sebastian, well he's a little punk, a spoiled brat who gets whatever he wants but is also neglected by his mother. This all makes sense and is somewhat true to the comics, but then the show takes a turn that I don't really understand. All these characters seem to go rogue and do unexpected things that aren't really explained, and sometimes explanations are given but then they change. Like Lance, at first he's calculating and manipulative, using his silver tongue to get people to do what he wants, how he uses fake Stephanie to trick Eugene into given them more information, calling in favours from people, trying to get the communities to join the Commonwealth and expand their influence. But then he sends an attack on a random community that were really no threat to them, the protagonists get involved and Negan is with this new group, and this whole conflict starts that leads them to no longer trust eachother and Lance goes full on two face leading an assault on the characters, using Leah as a mercenary, and taking over the communities. Meanwhile, Sebastian is using indebted poor people to go into a mansion surrounded by walkers to get money for him, and Pamela seems to be disappearing people who rebel against the Commonwealth but we don't know where. We even see Tyler Davis, the soldier Princess beat up, demoted to a low class job and revealing that there are thousands of people like him who want change and are rising up against their oppressors. Rosita finds his hiding room filled with propoganda, and Connie devotes herself to find out what happened to him and exposing the truth of the Milton's corruption. However, this goes nowhere. The conflict with Lance is brought to a halt and Pamela arrests him and frames him for Sebastian's crimes to end the protests, everything goes back to normal and she says she'll give back their communities. But then Max exposes Sebastian and Eugene gets him killed, wasting his potential to be an even more evil villain or having a redemption arc, seemingly just to make Pamela mad and more erratic. Then everyone is taken into custody and "disappeared" to get them out of the way for Eugene's trial, and despite Pamela having had no interest in the communities and disapproving of the way Lance took them.over and the games he plays, she seems to keep his work going and Alexandria is turned into a Commonwealth outpost and labour camp seemingly over night. So was she just lying? Keeping up appearances? Was this always her plan? Was Lance doing this for him, for her, or for the CRM? What alliances and stabilising factors do they have? How much of what Lance was doing did Pamela know about? What would've happened if Lance, Max and Eugene hadn't caused the chaos at Founder's Day and they had just gone home? Why do we never see the extent of the socio-economic inequalities? Like some people live in fancy apartments and some live in shitty apartments but it's not like a Hunger Games level of inequality among the separate classes, there aren't people homeless and starving, it just functions like a normal society where some people have more than others. Exactly how deep did the political corruption run, was there a democracy, government, or was it a Milton dictatorship? What happened to the thousands of rebels? The Commonwealth itself as a society felt so bland and empty, the story focused much more on the villains doing villany things than having an actual consistent narrative than involved the people and place of the Commonwealth itself, except for all the hundreds of stormtroopers that are wasted by the protagonists with ease. It didn't feel as lived in and real as it shouldve, and we still know nothing about how the Commonwealth came to be and how they manage to have such abundant resources and limitless fuel for vehicles and bullets for working guns over a decade into the apocalypse. The seeds were planted for the CRM to play a role in explaining the Commonwealth and set up the future of the franchise but it never did, and the Commonwealth felt so much smaller than it shouldve done. It even took Mercer till the final 2 episodes to switch sides and he didn't even really do anything! They killed off Lance before revealing what he knows just to make Pamela the primary antagonist for some reason, and cut out the most iconic parts of the Commonwealth arc in the comics of Dwight's assassination attempt on Pamela and Rick shooting him in the head, and Rick's inspiring speech and Sebastian killing him, which should all have been given to other characters on the show, and more shouldve died throughout the season! The pacing and writing was messy and rushed but slow at the same time... it just didn't work. I don't think the Commonwealth arc is inherently bad, I love the theme of going back to the old world and with it all the social ills of civilisation, it couldve felt like a combination of the early days in Woodbury with the Governor and Alexandria with Deanna, but it just... didn't

I really wanted them to slowly tease that they’re in a secret conflict with the CRM. Like, why would they want their weapons back so badly? It would also be a great way to bring Rick back. Imagine this: Last episode: Daryl, the last man standing in this battlefield dressed in the commonwealth soldier armour, notices a figure in the distance. He begins slowly walking towards the figure, trying to capture a look through the fog of war. It’s a CRM soldier, with one arm? Daryl, knives now out, begins to rush at the solder, pinning him to the ground. They fight. And keep fighting until the one armed man manages to out-strength Daryl, pulling of his mask. The soldier stands stunned…”Daryl?”…Daryl’s guard drops as the CRM soldier takes of his mask. Daryl stares stunned before the simple name exits his mouth…”Rick?” The two stand stunned at each other. Time has changed so much since they last spoke as bodies from both sides lie dead around them began reanimating. Two brothers, on opposite sides. CUT TO BLACK. THE END.

I wonder if Danai Gurera is coming back to the show? And she was last seen helping an injured man with a woman to rejoin a large group marching in formation away in the distance.. Since her primary reason for being out there is to look for Rick, maybe he’s with that group, maybe they’re either a part of the CRM, or another group that help take on the commonwealth.. Also the actors in various interviews have hinted the word “together” for how the show ends. Hmmmm.. lots to think about.🤔

I don't understand why they didnt just go for it with the CRM connections that were so blatant! Over and over Come characters hinted at the CRM through dialogue and actions, like all the people Pamela "disappeared" and the alliances Lance made, the train, Designation 2, and other things that really seemed to be hinting at the Civic Republic, but it all turned out to be nothing, or at most world building and set up for the future without it actually meaning anything right now. They had the perfect opportunity to introduce the CRM to TWD as a means to set up future spinoffs and have the characters learn that Rick is alive, or even have him return, but they just refused to. I don't understand why, the read somewhere that Angela Kang said Scott Gimple wouldn't let her, but they've created this entity that is like a civilisation empire that connects TWD across multiple shows which is obviously where the future of TWD is headed. It's the reason Rick left and where he's been for years, it's where Jadis is, the helicopter and 3 rings started in season 8, and since the CRM has appeared in Fear TWD and World Beyond, which was meant to set up the movies, but it was mostly a dumb teen drama and now the movies aren't happening anyway. I dont know if SG had bigger plans that got fucked by COVID and AMC making them end TWD, because there's a lot of potential there, and from what we have seen of the CRM, the way they're organised, how expansive and powerful it is, what they're capable of, what their plan for the country is, how they are the biggest entity we've ever seen in TWD that stand the greatest chance of rebuilding civilisation, and experimenting on walkers, the whole A and B thing, it is actually pretty intriguing and compelling, but they are taking SO FUCKING LONG to give us this story, building it up piece by piece, dropping little tidbits of information, teases and hits every year, without ever actually getting into it as a main storyline. TWD thinks it's like the MCU but it's not, no matter how many spinoffs there are, and I'm tired of waiting. And now the Rick and Michonne spinoff is confirmed to be only one season with 6 episodes, I very concerned about how they intend to pay all this set up off, and if it'll be sprinkled between the spinoffs instead of just having one focus on them. The Commonwealth arc was the perfect opportunity to start connecting the dots and make TWD characters aware of the CRM and Rick's survival so that when they go to their spinoffs they have a common goal of searching for the CRM and Rick and working together to save him and take them down from different angles. But they're just not doing that. They're being painfully and purposely vague and cryptic about everything and this just feels like something that is omnipresent in the background but will never actually play a role in the main story, dropping clues at something bigger that never actually comes to fruition

If I'm not wrong, season 11 will have 22 episodes and there are 8 episodes left. 8 episodes which I think they will be released in october (this is my prediction).Maybe they will release the Rick movies before the episodes. I can't see them bring Rick back in these last 8 episodes and be a TOP ending. I like the character of Eugene but instead of a full episode with him finding out Stephanie isn't real they should have shown us where's Michonne

Honestly I’m probably gonna go for the CRM instead of the commonwealth for two reasons. 1. Because the CRM has 200,000 people. 2. The CRM are the only group we know of that are actively trying to search for a cure which means that they have more advanced technology. Also don’t get me wrong both the CRM and commonwealth soldiers look awesome but I massively prefer the CRM just because I think they’re the better one of the two.
