Join the concrete crew as we excavate one job, set up another patio, and do some of the work that was already done, one more time. Summer is just getting started but I am definitely feeling it. Enjoy
Let me understand this, you have people work for you, they get side jobs, they take time off to do those side jobs, even though you need them. Then you give them detailed instructions on how to do a task when they do choose to show up, they disregard your instructions, and they’re still employed at your company? Must be a new management style. I’m a retired masonry contractor, maybe things have changed that much. They wouldn’t be employed on any crew I was running.
@@thomaswood2none of the guys showing up to go fishing aside from Tino was probably a reality check for Ryan that the guys are his employees not friends
Yeah forgot that the boss pays them extra if they don’t call in. And offer to take them on paid day trips fishing and to the lake but they don’t show up.
@@VesonoYT buddy this guy gets slapped in the face every day with reality from his employees, and he still Doesn’t get it. I like the guy, but at this point it’s all for views and comments so RU-vid pays him more.
One of my favorite things about watching this channel is coming to the realization that I'm not alone in my struggles. If you want it done right, sometimes you just have to do everything yourself.
You are at stage 2 management. Stage 1 is when you are an excellent worker and move up to be the boss. Stage 2 is when you are the boss and have to do everything yourself to get it done right. Stage 2 only works when you have a crew of about 7-10 people max as YOU only have so many hours in a day You want to be a stage 3 boss. A stage 3 boss learns that in order to grow you have to rely on people to do the work. The trick is learning how to hire and retain excellent workers. Then you can grow your business over 10 people to 10,000 or 100,000 people. Stage 2 boss is frustrating as everything falls on you and you never have any time.
I am the same way but I also have reached my glass ceiling when doing things alone. Finding good employees is the hardest thing about being a business owner.
Y'all must've Forgot Ryan said he rather have his employees venture off and start they're own business or wouldn't mind them finding something else instead of them sticking around doing concrete with him forever and now since a couple of them are venturing off this is the outcome 💯💲✊
@@808youknowwhatRyan himself hearted the comment genius.. I'm pretty sure that they are venturing off perfectly fine in his eyes.. and if not, they'd know about it.
@@Awesomewolfpicdefinitely saving money, I bet he would be charged 1,000 a day just for the machine being there and then probably 75 an hr on top of that
@@brandongreen9381 Yea and like other guy said probably residential jobs they dig their own but on commercial plumber jobs they don't do their own trenches and have the builders do it for them so it done right.
@@Awesomewolfpic yea, the plumbers on all of our jobs worked with the excavation crew, they dug whatever was needed and plumbers laided their pipe. I was a mason tender for years we only built schools.
Keith it definitely makes a difference with him putting up with the same mistakes over and over. I guess if he had near perfect workers it would make the videos boring.
It’s because he can’t afford to train an entire crew. If you have high turnover and always need to train new staff, how much work do you think you can get done? Retention is an investment. Eric taking earned time off to do side jobs is his prerogative.
The struggle of being a boss. You have to be babysitter, therapist, coach, teacher, loan officer, alarm clock, it’s endless. My hat’s off to you Ryan. God bless you and your family.
Ryan at times doesn’t even need as many guys he has, he does most the work himself. If he could just have 2-3 solid guys, pay them well, He would be fine.
Back in the start of the channel, Bugs, Marcel, and the other guy I forgot his name, that team really worked together, with exception of the Daryl's of course, but that's something Ryan had to deal with and can't get rid of them.
You should go "help" them on their side jobs and lay forms down out of level and break their tools and just cost them their time and money and then just say "I know" and leave immediately 😂😂
Mess everything up so they have to go back and redo the work 😂. What’s the point of having your employees complete the task and Ryan has to go back and redo it? C’mon!
How you can miss that their incompetence is what drives the views and interaction on the channel? He’d hire circus clowns and little people if that’s what made him the most money…
@@DonnyfromLG What’s disrespectful is the way they go about business with him, that’s disrespectful, and he allows it, so there’s truth to his statement.
You really need to hire more guys because your guys are not only lazy and making a lot of mistakes, but also they have been taking advantage of your help and kindness and now they are putting you in the background and prioritizing their jobs.
@@Musclecar1972 Exactly. Here in Portugal we have a saying "friends friends, business aside", which basically means that one thing is friendship, another thing is work. Don't mix the two things.
Getting people with a proper attitude and the ability to think for themselves and independently solve problems isn’t that easy. Let’s be honest, if you’ve got the skill set to do a concrete project you either get payed top dollar or you go into business yourself.
Wreck it Ray is the guilty one. But how funny is it that Ryan doesn't follow his OWN RULES. Always Make Sure the LOAD is SECURED when you drive off. Also we all know who messed up the forms, Ryan knows exactly who he left in charge to set them up. The same guy who thinks Ryan can send an e-mail to Dewalt and get 4 new Saws for Free after he threw one on the ground. For some reason, Ryan keeps protecting him.
Carlito is not a concrete finisher he's relatively new to the crew doesn't know how it's supposed to be ray okay l isn't a finisher either but he's been there long enough
You nailed it , yet everyone thinks we are haters for saying it . Eric should be fired immediately and big ray he is the dumbest man I have ever seen and I am sure he is going to cause a major problem for victory
Lol these are the dumbest takes that people have. First, people don't really like Eric. Why would they quit watching if he fired him? Secondly, if that was the case he never would have fired Daryl because that guy is nothing but content.
Thanks for the advice, I'm sure ryan will thank you for your opinion and will also ask you for future advice on how to manage his employees and buisness. Like really, it's funny how ryan makes fun of people like you in his videos and you still comment 😂
Yeah a real boss would have fired everyone who put them in . I think he sits there watching these videos thinking he is the coolest thing since sponge bob I really do
The fishing trip was to have a chill out day. Cause they disrespected Ryan has learned a lesson. He just need to treat them like workers and stop all the bonuses and time off for side jobs
Think about how insanely bad of a leader you have to be to have your crew no show for a paid fishing trip. Then to top it off, you cancel on the one guy who does show up. At that point if you don’t think about how you might have been able to do better for even a second, you’re done.
@tristanmartinez2667 Ryan will protect change his way of treating people. He still made delivery to Eric and keeps his cool around the crew when they mess up.
It’s a waste of my time saying it because everyone has already said it. All your workers are users, wasters and useless. You are the best boss anyone could ever have and they use you and abuse your kind nature. You will never learn because you are such a good person. The plumber, well if it cost me twice as much he wouldn’t be doing the job.
Hey, Ryan, the fact that you make these guys appear very inept and that you keep them on as employees makes you look bad as a business owner. And quit trying to buy their loyalty by taking them on fishing trips, feeding them. Etc, if they want to leave, they will leave. And I do remember in an earlier video. You said that you didn't mind the guys having side jobs as long as it didn't interfere with what you had going on. What happened?
What you don't get is that RU-vid has changed Ryan's life! It's obvious a good crew like the Hauses means low views. Sorry buddy, but this nice guy Ryan act is for the views and fan loyalty!@weldonbassett2829
I am a retired plumber, Ryan,s Plumber should be there directing the digging for all the pipes , and make sure all the elevation,s are correct, That is his job, I would have sent this plumber down the road kicking stone,s a long time ago,
The slipshod work by the guys is all of your making. They have absolutely no fear of doing bad work because every time you correct one of them you turn it into a joke and everyone ends up laughing about it. You made fun of the guy who emailed you about showing some tough love, but he wasn't far off the mark. I know you don't want the job site to be an angry place like bosses you worked for did, but a stern word once in awhile is most definitely needed! COOOME OOOON!!
I agree. I struggled myself when I was a manager. I just couldn't bring myself to discipline employees unless it was way over the line, I just was too nice. There's a balance to be found.
When your employees take time off Monday - Friday to do “side-work” it’s extremely disrespectful to your full time employer (Ryan). Then the floor forms and the kickers are an absolute disgrace. Come on guys you literally have the boss I have ever witnessed and I’ve been in the construction field since 1985. This on top of the whole fishing trip no show is horrible appreciation to Ryan and the whole Victory Outdoor Services family. Guys you have to do and change your ways now!
@@Beenweenie669 he should be taking the “paid time off” when the weather is bad, winter months, so on. I’ve been in construction since 1985 and never do we take off during the “busy season”. By doing this telling your employer that his employment is secondary yo his own company. It should be the other way around. You’re not gonna change my mind. It’s just wrong.
@@popsmodelrailroadingandstuff If Ryan needed him that week then he would have. Eric is off, Ray is off, and Franny is taking off at the end of the week. He clearly doesn't need all those guys because he's doing little jobs and working at the yard this week.
Your thought process explains why you’ve been in construction since 1985. That’s not an accomplishment that an embarrassment.@@popsmodelrailroadingandstuff
Thats not how construction works. Commercial plumbers never trench their own work. Excavation is part of the excavation work. Running pipe is the plumbers job. You dont want to pay plumber wages for them to do non plumber work.
Get those roof trusses of the ground and cover them really well. A few days of wet weather and they’ll start rotting away. Not to mention they’ll delaminate and end up completely useless.
i was gonna say that…. covering them up like the contractor said he was gonna do is not enough, they need to be off the ground too… 🤦🏻♂️ feel bad for ryan sometimes lol
@@jessehensley1812 Perhaps, but would you rather put in an hour or two to get them secured or a month or two (if not longer) to determine who’s fault it is and who’s gotta pay up and waiting for new ones?
@@angrydoggy9170 its not the builders job when he didn't even order them is my point on this situation or especially on ryan in this instance, again no one knows who even ordered them and if i was Ryan i would've been pi**ed
Ryan needs TWO things: 1. AirTags for ALL tools and equipment. 2. Checklist/clipboard for EVERY driver that enters/exits the truck before/after driving.
It’s a small business not a corporation 😂 Ryan would have to open a whole other division of victory to keep track of that in a way you could actually have accountability, otherwise you’re just wasting time and money.
@tristanmartinez2667 lol it's not that difficult. "Where is my small compressor? Oh, it's here on the form truck." "Where is Tino, oh he is at the gas station again." Ntm all his stuff should be at the yard or winter shop anyway. It's also not that hard and takes 2 min to fill out a checklist (10 things max). Did I secure everything, are my tires filled, do I have gas etc.
I used to work for this company. We installed banks drive thru ATMs security cameras etc. All over Texas . Our enclosed trailers had to be cleaned when returning to our shop and loaded for the next job before we went home, why can't these guys do that to their trucks. SMH
As long as Ryan pays them for a full day when they work half, buys them lunch, gives them bonuses... that is all they will care for. They will never respect him, his jobs or his equipment. No one here is saying it so I will... These boys from south of the border just have a different mentality.
I like going back to the older videos of you just getting the land. Awesome too see how much you’ve done to it and how it’s all slowly coming together! It’ll be an exciting day that all the building and lot are all complete
@@jacksak they prob didnt know.. I havent watched these videos for a super long time but seeing kickers for a thick slab isnt their normal pour... it will be interesting to see how the hired crews that are heling to do the slab get along with ryans crew..
well its not a bad thing do make revisions.. every single product you interact with on a daily basis has been "done" about 100 times, and its still never right. if you expect something to be done perfect on the first attempt you have a lot to learn
Ryan should get an award for best boss. I wish I could be working for a guy like him. Keep up the amazing videos. I have learned a lot just watching your videos.
When Ryan asked him the other video “are you good?” And tino kept asking Ryan the same question “are you good?” oh man it was so awkward and that’s what people do, they try to flip the script
I have thought the same thing but if he is he hides it well. When you do hard drugs their are little signs for each one that I've learned. Most likely he is just using the bathroom so he can pay half his rent by pooping.
@@WV_Raised1983haha I was thinking he must of have stomach issues (IBS) with all the bathroom breaks and never going in to eat with the guys when they go for lunch.
Nothing is easy Ryan but you’re a very resourceful person it’s frustrating trying to get work done if people aren’t like minded like you it’s even harder
I hope you see this Ryan. Watching your videos have inspired an motivated me so much ever since I got out of jail last December. I now work full time as a contractor doing anything from painting, landscaping, and/or deck rebuilds and part time at a local burger king. I also take side landscaping jobs on my own when I can. You are a huge positive influence on my life and I'm sure many more. Thank you and keep up the videos. Ps I'm on lunch right now will watch video when I get home from tonight.
"What would you recommend"? When my employees asked about how to handle just about any task but wanted to do it right (my way until a better way presented itself) they would present the situation to which I replied: 'what would you recommend that we do?'. Within a few months, they already knew what my reply would be, so they instead approached me with a problem and 2 solutions. I want employees brains when they are at work. I pay more per hour than anyone in our field, but it pays me more also by way of 99.999999% less errors. That question pretty much solves problems over and over forever! PS: Our work is much more complex than yours, so I wanted a foolproof system that made my employees get involved in the solution. I highly recommend it, and be gentle, it takes old school employees and employers a few months to get comfortable with this 'new aspect of their jobs'. Have fun Ryan!
So, regarding your employees 'bad' work on the forms, I'd say: "Hey, is there any problem whatsoever with these forms, and are we good to pour concrete with them?" I'd have them all look the form work and gather them all together and see what they think of their work! Have all of them comment one by one. (give them a fish and you feed them for a day; teach them to fish and you feed them for life).
Agree with you here, he's just enabling them and they're used to not having to think for themselves cause Ryan just comes along and fixes it all every time.
There comes a point when a side job gets in the way of your primary job. Usually side jobs are on the weekends or after work during the week. At this point Eric just needs to go out on his own full time.
Eric’s already taking Ryan’s market share in his own neighborhood making so much profit he can use Ryan’s equipment and still make more than Ryan would. Ryan is cooked.
If my boss dangled all of his new expensive stuff he was buying with my labor in front of my face daily, I would gladly leave work to make 4x what he’d pay me.
I've not been watching as long as some people, but I have really enjoyed following your journey to get this land secured and start developing to pursue your goal and dream. Has certainly seemed like a bit of a rollercoaster, but you always find a way to bounce back and keep pressing forward with a positive outlook. I'm sure some days it feels like Sisyphus rolling that boulder up the hill, but seeing actual ground breaking happening is so exciting. Glad this is happening for you.
You did wrong Ryan. U made it easy for eric to start his own company. U give him small bids..u lent home money , u give him ur euipment. U gave him ur subs for RU-vid …now he does shity work fo you. Cause wat does he care. He all set up now. Thanks to you.
I'm sure if Ryan needed the money he wouldn't be giving Eric the side jobs, he rents him the equipment so is making money from him & Ryan never forced anyone to sub to Eric
They do, but those type of guys don’t put up with micromanagement. They also don’t like to be recorded and posted to probably 2 million followers across Facebook and RU-vid.
I worked for a concrete company here in Arkansas. We had washout ponds. Thats what it looks like you keep running into. Then they just covered it when they left the property.
@@tnolan3176 nobody is even renting ryan's sh except for eric, why do you think he was so happy to go deliver it to him. All the skidloaders are just sitting there collecting dust
Theres grafters out there that would love a workplace like this. A boss who treats you well, takes you out and make them friends. There will be a time in the business Ryan will change the ways. If he’s worried about losing views as less entertainment. I know for sure most people will still continue to show support. He’s still getting his business and RU-vid side. I Believe he’s knows when things need to change
RU-vid comments used to be fun to read, now they're just a bunch of trolls speaking how much they know, and the background they have. I just watch this channel because I like the people, especially Ryan. Good WORK!
Time to quit bonuses and incentives for the guys if they don't have enough respect to do what they should know by now how to do their job. I'd also fire the plumbing crew. I'm a retired UNION plumber and did my own ditch work. If there was a lot of digging we hired a backhoe for that part. Must be a premadonna company.
People that employ them for side jobs should pay attention, that without the boss. The job is done without a care. Keep up the great work Ryan! Im certain aleast some of us are actually learning from you!
I can remember back in the earlier videos..how u encouraged Eric that following ur type of work he could one day have his own concrete company i guess Eric grew up and now is following ur lead! It takes alot to be a gooooood man ..God bless!
Man I loved the surprised visit from the CEO Daniel on the job site near your house ! Don't listen to all these negative comments I think your a great boss and your guys are a team it takes all kinds of individuals to make up a great environment to be around on the jobs site . Keep it up and you all be safe out there...
I worked for an asphalt and concrete company for 45 years as aforeman and we had to have a safety meeting every Fri we called it a trail gate meeting it had to be recorded and singed by the crew and a circle check everyday.
"The side jobs Eric gets are from Ryan. Ryan is getting a percentage of the job for getting Eric the lead. He’s not deliberately taking work off" pulled this from another comment, i dont know if its true but thought you'd like to read it too
I’ve been watching victory for a while and I just noticed he doesn’t put a bag on the trash can when he takes it out. At my house that’s a death sentence.
Hi Ryan ! I had a job where the owner was a perfectionist, his “Line” was “ If you can’t find time to do it right first time”! “ Where are you going to find time to do it right the second time”!!!!! GOOD LUCK ! 😮🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I work in heavy equipment rental industry, and i grease all my equipment after ever 20 hours on average, basic fuel, oil and air filters checks after every job and use. Takes 5 mins max to check everything over and I would personally train the guys in checking that stuff in the morning before ever Job. Takes no time and one less thing to be on your mind!

Thanks for the invite to the private family-channel. Saw it was RU-vid Kids listed, so no comments possible. But love the private behind the scenes content! Such fun!
I’m at the point where I don’t know why I watch anymore. Ryan has found the RU-vid Algorithm Demon. Where you perpetuate your content, so people have fights in the comments. I mean here here!! for luckily getting into that clickbait channel.
I feel like this is a sign to cleanse my watching habits to channels that I watch with a positive comment section and non-instigating creator. And they are out there ❤️
I love how people see up to, maybe an hour of Ryan and his crew, 3 times a week. Sometimes that hour covers several days. Yet these negative commenters feel they know everything lol Keep doing you sir!
Wouldn't all of us homeowners love to have a skid-loader? It's impressive how fast that ripped up those tree / shrub roots knowing the pain it would be to do that without the machine. Such a versatile piece of equipment.
It's a game changer for small contractors, to be able to load the bucket into a truck and have all those attachments, we don't have them in my country everything is done by cheap labour.
Skidsteers tear up the yard as well though. You would spend equal time fixing the ruts and leveling the lawn after. He has the man power to do that for him. You could always rent though!
That’s sad how you have to babysit these grown ahh guys it’s sad rayan 😣 I wish I had a boss like you rayan I work for a concrete company down in Atlanta and if I was to act up like ur workers you would’ve been got fire 😂
You’re doing a great job I’ll be happy to work for you, especially knowing that you would give me a week off to do my side jobs. Knowing this the only reason I say, this is because I used to work for guy doing log homes, who then gave me the opportunity to clean windows on the side, and he let me work for him while I was building my business. I’m beyond blessed and more grateful to that gentleman than most people can imagine. And I knew his heart wasn’t about having employees. It was about building up a person/character.
