Melissa wrote a classic song, and Dolly knew just what to do with it. Watching these two talented women together, and the respect they clearly have for each other, is just lovely.
Yeah...Dolly is not a rock and roll singer, and would never classify herself as one, but when she cuts loose with the vibrato...WATCH OUT! If you've never heard it, listen to her cover of Collective Soul's "Shine", which she totally belts.
Dolly Parton. Rock and Roll Hall of fame Inductee, 2022. With songs like this its a wander it didn't happen earlier. Dolly Parton World Class Legend!. Cheers from Down Under.
I just found this recording the other day. I know this song well and I'm a huge fan of both women, but oh my god, I was laughing and crying hearing Dolly belt this out.
Great song and Dolly is still a cute lil chick...Mellisa seemed to hold back and enjoy Dolly's take on the song...Kudos to Melissa! Two Great Performers.
Awesome song, easily one of Melissa's best. She clearly respects what Dolly does with it. And well she should, since Dolly knocks it out of the park. One great song, two great artists, what more do ya want?
From the Jimmie Rodgers classic "Muleskinner Blues (Blue Yodel #8)" that Dolly covered way back in 1970. It was her first solo top 10 country hit, she had had several with Porter Wagoner by that point.
As Jane Fonda says over n over......"underestimate Dolly Parton at your own peril." The woman is a fkng Mozart and will be seen as such POSTHUMOUSLY. How unfortunate. I've seen it for decades n decades.

Always loved Dolly Parton but haven't bougt ant records ord so. Melissa,Ben Harper,ye Dylan for that matter has more been in my street. Than I saw this video while strolling down music by M.E. So good together, can ses they're havin' real fun and love Dolly's version!!
Thanks for all of u that like this version. Still JOLENE will allways be the nr one song for me made and performed by Dollly Parton. Also she stand by her god daughter, Miley Cirus and go public explaning why she had to go all the way, for some maybe to far but how the hack should she get ried of the Hanna Montana"role. So even this amazing country singer in her age, talkin' about D. Parton still is standin 'up for her and telling the world so what? She smoked some weed at the MTV awards... So what? From Sara with love
as would I be if I ever had the honour to not only stand beside Dolly as she ripped it up .....but if she were also doing one of my songs???????? Maaaaaan .I'd be a whole load higher than heaven :)
Check out Tracy Chapman doing "Give Me One Reason" with Eric Clapton. She has an ear to ear smile of awe and admiration that says, 'OMG Eric is playing my song on the same stage as me!" I was in awe when I first saw it because it sounded like an EC song when I first heard it. I actually found this version looking for info on who wrote the song...lol
