We drop in to enjoy a world renowned reef dive in the southern Bahamas, and are immediately engaged by what we think is an overly friendly dolphin, but actually turns out to be our guardian angel!
After wrapping up the dive of our lives, we continue our weeklong sail to Panama, doing a little island hopping along the way, a bit of reminiscing, and some more deep sea fishing.

Keith, you really upped your game with the new camera rig. The quality is of cinematic underwater photography equal to oceanographic high budget productions. The dolphin scenes were captured as though they were shot for the big screen. You have stepped above average You Tube quality. I'm looking forward to more of your videos using it. Regards to all aboard, and wishes for smooth sailing, favorable winds and Neptune's blessings. Thanks for taking us along. I christened my concrete block home, here in Tampa, The Silver Lining. I guess I'm a sailor at heart, landlocked, but vicariously gaining my sea legs aboard Zatara.

Wow... this video was chock a block full of goodness..... new underwater camera rig really showing it's worth using... quality time with a Dolphin ......and Keith's comment about using a shotgun to blow the head off a fish had me rolling on the floor laughing..... I believe the editing has improved the most though.... seamless transitions and music match perfectly with thoughtfully gleaned quality content.... Bravo crew of Zatara!

Love that the dophin hung around! I always loved when dophins would hang with us and only when I was older did I realize that it was likely they were being protective, that there were sharks nearby! I always feared the spring as there would be blacktips, tiger migrating and mating and perhaps even a bull shark or two. I miss the GOM, Bahamas and the video's has me gratful I was born to a family that also adores the gulfs, oceans and seas. Thank you for your video's!

I get home late from work most nights and check your posts and dream of doing what your doing. my kids love watching too. only got a 28 foot motor sailer that's not gonna take us far but hopefully one day we can upgrade and explore some of those magical places you go to. Greetings Kate, Finn, Jack, Anna, Renee and Keith! I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for taking the considerable time and effort to put it together. Like most here, I especially enjoyed the underwater footage, and that beautiful curious dolphin! Oh, and Keith, it seems to this layman, and I'm sure you already realize, that rod holder was designed to be mounted on a horizontal surface, which explains why it failed. It had to be installed upside down on Zatara's sharply angled stern in order to hold a rod upright. That positioned the holder's single anchoring screw at the top where the two screws should be. I was thinking you could also anchor the bottom end of the rod tube to the inside of the hull just below your backing plate. Just a thought...Thanks again! Love you guys!

I would get a safetly line on those Rods. Be a shame to lose a $1000 rod and reel to a 10 pound Tuna. Been there done that. Just My .02. Love the channel

Hold on a second...A 10 pound tuna @ $100 a pound (for sushi in Japan)....might be worth it. That way you don't lose both. A safety line wouldn't be hard to organise. Just saying

I'll never get tired of hearing those reels go off. There aren't very many sailing channels that include fishing so love that you guys fish. Take it from someone that has two saltwater reels on the bottom of the lake. Leash it or loose it. I never thought I'd loose my reels and in the blink of an eye I capsized a catamaran Getaway in light winds. An accidental jibe with too much sheet out.

Oh wow! That's great about the dolphin. I've been scuba diving for over 20 years and see a lot of totally harmless sharks, but they're always near the ocean floor. When one is near the top, there's a bigger chance it is a great white or a bullshark. Glad the dolphin warned you!

Hey Guys, love your channel. Saw something done by Kate that can be dangerous if not aware. Shallow water with scuba, please be aware of the inherent risks of breathing compressed air and then ascending while holding breath. Be safe and good travels.

I saw that, too. In water that shallow, doesn't take much. Never hold your breath! Either breathing in or out at all times, preferably shallow breaths in, deep out.

I have just completed "binge watching" all 76 Sailing Zatara episodes you've posted on RU-vid (took me a week or two!). I love watching the family dynamics and problem solving. Lots of challenges solved with love and perseverance. The new underwater rig shows spectacular videos - thanks for all the hard work to share your diving with the rest of us. You have re-ignited my dream from my 20's to buy a boat and sail the South Pacific. Once concern I have is that in all of the RU-vid sailing blogs I see, everybody is in the 20-40 year-old range. I'm now in my late 60's. Do you guys see any "older" sailors?? : )

Hey Kate When you are free diving, grab a pound or two dive weight: you should try to be neutral at about 15'. Freedive makes less noise so you'll see more wildlife, and as you get used to it, you'll find it more comfortable than breathing from the bottle (we weren't made with that in mind, we were made to hold our breath, for good reason, underwater), and you'll find yourself leaving the bottles behind far more often! Bottles have their place, but the shallows were made to be free 😁

To the Zatara Family. First thanks for all the great content. For diving with dolphins/porpoises, sharks will not bother you as long as they remain in your midst. Sharks respect dolphins and avoid confrontations. Good luck for any diver to have around most of the time.

Thanks for the kind words! 4K is too just much to manage while using just a laptop; I’ve tried and it is a storage and RAM nightmare; not to mention the time it takes to upload such big files.
