Domicilliary care is very very stressful. This is what I do currently, thank God I’m leaving the job soon to continue my career as a nurse. Dorm carer is a glorified housemaid😢.

I'm thrilled she endured it and has been able to move forward to a better height! It all happens for a reason and we thank God for His faithfulness in Passy's life. This was certainly another easy , assuring and inspiring video Nanelle. Chop another virtual hug my love!❤

The problem is most people that work care don’t know their rights. No one is allowed to be nasty to you at work. You are allowed to refuse to go to a client house if they are rude to you or make you uncomfortable. You are not paid to be abused

@@ademolaadelekan8400 that sounds desperate and laced with low-self-esteem. It is a major offence to call someone a slave - it's verbal abuse. Don't allow anybody to destroy your mental health because it permanently destroys a person

If you get a contract/offer letter, please let someone who is in the Uk and has insight to check it for you. Some of the offer is soo bad. You only come and latter realize it. Thats my little advice. But even if you come and you are having challenges ask for help ooo and advice from people who are here to support you. Dont be too quite and suffer in silence. Information is good. And if you need support from others, join groups, get connected to others and youll be fine😊

This is one of the best I've watched on your channel so far, Nanelle. Your guest was calm, candid, was not overly exaggerating and made no wild extrapolations. Sometimes, people need to hear this part of the bigger picture because it's becoming one too many how people make it look too rosy in the UK. I've been a senior lecturer in the UK for a few months now but I feel reluctant to share it because people will only look at what they think lecturers should earn forgetting about every other thing. But imagine how nice it will be to give the nitty-gritty of it to help others who would want to toe that line.

Dom care is very interesting and challenging. For the following reasons ;1) You are never on time 2) When things go missing you are suspect 3) Some clients own exotic pets (giant snails, snakes, spiders, lizards, etc..., ), 4) it's always your fault, 5) you are always saying sorry.

If youre in the UK on a sponsoship visa you cannot be on a zero hour contracr and must be offered a salary of 37.5 hours a week. If not its illegal and if they dont provide this you can inform the home office and they will have their right to sponsor removed

Great video! She forgot to mention that when your car breakdown, no hours for you until you fix it with your money, all you get from your agency is fuel or milage. My agency pays salaries monthly, which is OK but you get paid e.g. March 17 to April 18 salary on May 10. This means you get paid your one month's salary after extra 3weeks work. No weekend rate no bank holiday rate. Total slavery!!! 😭😭😭

This depends on the company though, because the domiciliary company I used to work for pays your required hours regardless of the client’s availability because it’s not your fault… all in all, Dom is too stressful I had to work 7-2, 4-10pm

Thank you Nanella for this video, I came into the Uk about a month plus now was lucky to get a support work, but do you know that when I resumed work I discovered that it's domiciliary work that I'm doing, that is moving from one client house to another. Stressful is an understatement, like this is more like slavery cos I work full time I leave the house by 6:30am and return home by about past 10 or 10:30pm for the days I work full day. I'm seriously searching for another job so I can quit.

Personally I think many people don't know what domiciliary care means. Because it is community based job, it is only enjoyable if you have got a car and it can fit around your family life if you have got little one. Domiciliary care is like agency work it is an adhoc shift and it is advisable to register with multiple agency so that when one job has not got shift, then the other can.

People also claim that domiciliary carers only get paid for the time when they clock in at the client's and not for the time in between shift such as traveling between clients. Is this true?
@Passypounds
@Passypounds Год назад
Very true your travel time is not paid for
@oluodu9357
@oluodu9357 Год назад
Yes, if you get a 5 hours call for a whole day, assume your first call/client starts at 7.00 and your last call/client is 19.00, you only get paid for the 5hrs you login for your clients. All travel times are not paid for and your 5hrs are mostly scartered in a way that you have breaks of maybe, 1hr or 2hrs in between your calls/clients so you can't make good use of your extra hours. You end up finding yourself outside your home for 12hrs daily with little pay to show for it. Been working domiciliary since October last year, it is not for the faint hearted 😭😭😭

With my company, you are mostly paired with a driver if you are a non-driver. So if they are double handed calls, you both go into the house. If you both have single calls on the run, the driver drops you at your call, goes off to complete theirs and comes back to pick you up for the next call
