I remember watching this years ago. I’m happy RU-vid suggested it again. Puts real perspective on what’s important in life. This man is the epitome of strength and courage seems like such a gentleman
I remember yourself and Declan from school in Westport. Two fine lads. We had one or two nights out. Been teenagers too I suppose we couldn't imagine the heartbreak and trauma you had both suffered. I wish we were more supportive to you both! You were decent, sound lads. Everyone was so fond of you both. I genuinely hope life has been a little kinder in your adults years, that you have found peace and happiness. . Mise le Mess
Unfortunately Declan has passed away aged 39 of a heart attack a great man he was likewise young Dominic too. What them men went through not many of us could ever imagine 💚
RIP Mum & Dad ... you can’t changed the determination of the struggle back then and the sacrifices people made .. regardless of feuds or corruption. ☘️
I sincerely hope that you and Declan find the love and peace that you truly deserve. You were small boys inside a terrible time. May your Ma and Pa Rest In Peace.
David Deane David, thanks for telling me. I remember vividly the two boys at their Mother’s funeral. It was heartbreaking to see them having to face that. It would be tragic if those dark times were to be reborn. I hope that someone somewhere keeps that from ever happening. And wherever Dominic Junior is, I hope he’s okay.
What a terrible thing, for a child to have to live with that. I just hope that the peace remains in NI so no other family has to go through that experience. I have been to NI more times than I can count and I find the people, some of the nicest and most friendly I have met.
Fare play to you , this interview always sticks in my head my your mum and dad RIP , terrible times we lived through, I hope your doing well in life now 🙏
The same man caused soo much pain to innocent working class protestants,he put lots of families through exactly the same experience he had..no sympathy deserved.
He went after paramilitarys Gary ther were innocent civilians but ther are innocent civilians everywhere , I know he’s far from an angel but he has shared his story and online British news papers can confirm this , even after the murder of the ma and da the young lads were brought up to believe we were equals ther is no difference ,, but thanks to the British state forces the difference was being displayed the family were crucified and you know how the rest of the story goes pushed and pushed to the point we’re the kids joined the irps to go after the ones that done the oppressing I hope you and your family are keeping well and glad that your kids don’t have to go threw what we had to go threw , though in this modern day it is important to understand you don’t have to agree with it you just have to understand it best of luck from Ballycastle 👍
I can personally never imagine how any child feels seeing or hearing about their parents murdered. I don't really care about what people's political views are. People from both sides of the community in Northern Ireland need to see the big picture. The global one percent of the so called elite couldn't care less about the people on Northern Ireland. They couldn't probably even point to Northern Ireland on a map. All people in Northern Ireland on both sides should never forget the past but should work together to ensure that nobody else has to go through the trauma of losing a loved one.
That's a fair enough point, though like so many conflicts around the globe people can't see past their own interest. Healing starts within before externally and too many of us hold onto pride in order for us all to move on and except democracy and I mean REAL democracy. Media plays a part in manipulating the public masses, that's where it's really up to us as individuals to decide what is the real morally right and wrong thing to do to treat each other the way we would like and most importantly need to be treated. As an Irishman in the West of Ireland one of my most satisfying moments being a citizen here was when Irish people finally stood up to the Government regarding the non payment of Water charges. It was not because I was or was not willing to pay for water, it was a real activism of unity against that 1% that live in the wealth bubble. ✌️ Grá agus síocháin
I have never shouted INLA from any roof top but his Dad brought some order to the group. He was a true die hard republican fighting the cause and I respect your mum and dad's commitment for the cause.. sorry that their passing was in you and your brother's prime of life. But I'm sure your have inherited from Dominic and Mary a resolve for life that no man can dare break.
To Mr. Mark 2007, I find your labelling/stereotyping of an entire community tragic. I, would urge you to listen to the VERY EDUCATED and INSPIRING words of Ann McGeeney on a RU-vid video here. She talks of cooperation and solidarity and how she and her family promoted this in her own community. Interesting.
MrMark2007 Great stuff Mark I love when your lot posts on the internet lets the world see you true colours, just a bunch of vile knuckle ragging bigots.
No child should ever have to witness even if it weren't his mother and father. He should be soo hateful and absorbed all the poison thrown at him and yet look at him. A living testament to how strong love can be over hate. My heart went out when a dear friend told me this story.
Personally, I don't have a dog in this fight. All I know is that what he went through and witnessed must have been traumatic. A.C.E.S(adverse childhood experiences) shape us in later life. Best wishes to the guy and hope he finds peace.
Two bit loser, Both his parents were shot in the conflict going on within the INLA, Irish National Liberation Army in the 1980's. There was an internal conflict going within this organisation known as the "INLA internal feud" and his parents got caught up in it.
A man of principal and great strength.. All the best to you Dominic and ya family. The west's awake.. Take care buddy, from the belly of the beast via athenry.. Rassa>>
Too see both of your parents murdered in separate incidents is terrible. hope the son isn't offended by this: just yesterday i was reading the INLA DEADLY DIVISIONS book. In it was a passage that this guys mother, Mary McGlinchy had made some enemies. inla was in one of the feuds that it was almost permanently in. this time with the breakaway iplo. However, the book says that friends of a murdered guy, EM, killed her for revenge. Father wasn't allowed out of a Eire jail for the funeral.
He said, pawns in the game, but I suppose he never heard of a book of that title which is called, pawns in the game, William Carr, which will open up his eyes to what the elite call, the great game , Ireland is a mere drop in the ocean in the game
well done dominic i and many of my friends will always remember your parents as the good socialist nationalist and brave people they were and i feel for your loss as many in ireland do
I detested sectarian murderers - still do. I can and do emphasise with with survivours.. I understand hatred so even if he was involved in the later murders of two soldiers, I can see it would be more or less inevitable that he would want some form of "justice". I don't wish him any harm...he had more reason to fight than most.
Absolutely no evidence for an allegation like that. There’s more evidence that Dave Cleary ‘soldier F’ gunned down innocent civilians but in his case we are told “innocent until proven guilty “ can’t have it both ways 🤷🏼
Im no fan boy of the Provos/INLA but that is a terrible story , its impossible to comprehend how those men could live with themselves or look their family straight in the eye after doing such a terrible thing. No cause is worth this.
They should have moved deeper into Southern Ireland. Not to Drogheda or any part of Louth. Both parents shot in Louth. Or they should have gone abroad as advised.
I am so sorry for the family to see their mother murdered two kids in the house Dan seeing his father murdered if that was another family the police and the garda would find who murdered there mother and father rip I have nothing to do with anything to do with troubles only thing I can do is said a prayer for the kids live your life and I know you said his mad but I am not it was a war now people want peace I don't see any Ira or inla button bombs around there backs like ics but a bomb in a bin and walk away Dan to be called heroes 95%of Irish people want peace there still biter old man and woman still want to kill man women also kids kids I am asking people who are against peace or know who is look at your children also grand children people peace is the way forward
Politics gone the wrong way can bring out the beast in the best of people. It's not so much the people as the situation they find themselves in. Politics is more of a curse than a blessing.
Aye...Check out the book...INLA : Deadly Divisions it is a good read and gives a true account into the internal feuding and the split from the sticks and the formation of the IPLO...!! Saoradh Saoirse Erin Go Bragh !!
Video van..smell of popcorn. .bath..then the smell of gun powder...poor children seen their mother murdered..night started off as a childs nights should on any Saturday night..but ended up really that should a child or a human being should never have to witness...poor lads..
Face facts, IRA in Northern Ireland went against public opinion and desire; that makes them terrorists and NOT freedom fighters. Glad to see the cowards dead.
The USA has been bombing Arab nations for 50 years.Stealing natural resources, beheading Arab children. The IRA had a friend in Khadaffi. His Navy and Army stopped phony asylum seekers from loafing in Eire. CIA killed him and now....is Eire really Irish? Send all asylum seekers away now.
@@superstarshaker7402 150 million arnt nothing, you sick evil person I don't have a drop of Irish blood, the Germans were very much the amateurs compared to englands sickos. Thank god the E.U and U.S put the boot to your head to bring PEACE Never again .
DOMINIC THOSE SCUMBAG GAURDS KNEW WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN MO CHARA THEY ARE IN THE SAME LOYALIST CLUBS AND KNOW WHO DONE BOTH OF THE KILLINGS .I HOPE YOU AND DECLAN ARE HEALTHY AND DOING FINE YOUS ARE TWO FINE MEN WHO DONE YOUR PARENTS PROUD.🍀
