Khamomil Good post. He was an amazing guy. He fought in the Second World War, came home and built a life and raised a family. Things took a bit of a turn for him and by the time he reached his 50's he realized he was an alcoholic and a loser. He then went to Oregon where he stayed several weeks in a friends cabin, bringing only some notebooks and pens. He wrote and dried out and then he changed his life. Things took a tragic turn with his daughters murder at the hands of a jealous ex boyfriend and that could have sent him back into the bottle. But instead he resolved to speak for victims of violence and he covered the murder trial for Vanity Fair. By the way, the killer got off with a very light sentence. But that was how he began his long career with Vanity Fair and he covered many murder trials for the magazine including the OJ Simpson trial. Toward the end of his life he said that the second half of his life was the very best. He really is kind of inspiring to me.

Exactly, rehearsal for reciting lines. If you say something enough times, it becomes natural to say. Even lies.

This is court. It's a life and death situation. Even innocent people have been known to be convicted so it would be stupid to not be prepared for court even if you were telling the truth. You don't just go there and try to remember things off the top of your head. Human memory fails. As time goes on we tend to forget things and details. So if you want to tell a story in court, better to get the story and down and straight. It's not "brainwash"! It's rehearsal and it's necessary for any defendant, whether they are telling the truth or lying.
