The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Nick is a recovering addict who has been sober for early six years. He is raising his 11-month-old daughter on his own. It's been a challenging time for him because he doesn't have much family here to help and he's been working full-time while taking care of a newborn.
When Hailey was born, Nick was working a job where he had to wake up at 4 a.m. and ne to work by 5 a.m. Having a newborn and going without much sleep most nights made this work schedule very hard, so a few months ago he found a new job with better working hours. That job didn't work out because he didn't have enough experience, so for now he's working at Domino's delivering pizza.
Nick adores his baby girl and she loves him. Everything he does is for her. He's doing all he can, the best he can, to build their life together.
Secret Santa asked the East Idaho News elves to pay Nick a visit and we decided to have some fun with this surprise! Check out the video in the player above.

I am so proud that this man turned his life around and is now a wonderful and loving father and a hardworking man and volunteer as well!!! This is so true!! These gifts from Secret Santa are not about feeling rich, or wanting fancy or expensive things. It's the blessing of a less stressful life - not having to panic over whether you can afford your rent, not having to choose between heating and eating, and not losing sleep due to an unexpected bill or expense. It's difficult to explain to those who have never experienced it, but financial struggles are crippling in a multitude of ways - affecting health, sleep, nutrition, mental health, family relationships, and so much more. Secret Santa gives far more than financial assistance. He gives hope, reassurance, compassion, love, and helps to change and arrange circumstances so that those who are struggling can turn it around and thrive. I hope he gets as much joy out of doing these as we get from watching them 💖 (Edited to fix typo)

@@geoffpoole483 I watched her relapse 9 times before she ended up in the hospital this last time with myocarditis and 105⁰+ F temp. When she pulled through she got serious about getting/staying clean. No matter, I never gave up and I never stopped loving her. She was/is my girl.

@@Dobviews I think some feel this way only because the junkie choice to do the drugs. When you have people out there struggle to pay for the meds they need to live IE insulin Chemo and other high price meds. Also you have disabled people that would love to get back to a more normal life like walks in parks and beach but can't. There insurance will not cover a track wheelchair or only pays a small % of the cost for a scooter and they have to come up with $10k to get a scoot on top of what insurance pays. Where a Junkie can get free medical service and meds to save they life. Just a lot of people think and feel there are others that need help that are trying to life a good life but can't get any help. Where there the same junkie that every week are getting saved from overdose and not trying to better themselves. Truth is the whole system is screwed up.

Wonderful story... My son used Meth for 10 years... he finally sobered up and got together with his childhood sweetie... they got married and have 3 beautiful kids... It’s Christmas Eve. I saved this one for now. I don’t know why, but I did. Listen to me please. I'm a single father with an autistic 3 year old son. I work 7 days week to make the hours I need to pay bills. My son is in the best school in our county for special needs, but the school hours are only for 6.5 hours a day so I have to work 7 to make up the difference. I wake up at 430am EVERYDAY to make sure I'm ready to get him up in the morning in comfort. To ALL my single fathers (and parents) out there, I have DEEEEEP DEEEP love and respect for you. His story hit home for me. As a addict in recovery myself for 1 year and nine months, i know what a struggle it can be in very stressful situations. I know that situations like this man is in, would've made many addicts relapse, even after 5 years of being clean and sober. But this man is strong, the dedication towards his daughter, the love he has for her, is what will make him stay clean and sober for a long long time to come. It makes me proud to see how strong this man mentally is. I have six years. I’m finally back on my feet comfortably. I hope you have support from your family. People don’t realize long it takes and how hard it is to rebuild your whole entire life. Thank you to whoever told Secret Santa about this man! This will make it so much easier to care for his baby and also be able to make more money in the future! With a baby, get insurance on the computer! lol! Love to everyone involved in this, they make me so happy every time I watch them! Getting sober is not easy, I also got help from AA and it has been such a gift! For those thinking you can't, you can!
