I’m eternally grateful that I can buy my canned jackfruit at my local Asian Supermarket. Supporting a local business and not having to have it shipped in just for me!
I had an SF open up next to my house and I've been there once a week since they opened. That's where my groceries come from. I usually get some fresh meat, some local tofu, and a mountain of vegetables. You might be reading this and thinking, that sounds nice, but how do I cook it up? You can learn on Happy Appetite, and plenty of other great channels on RU-vid. Some of my favorites are See You Everyday In The Kitchen and Rosalina's Kitchen. I hope more people start to learn to cook Asian foods and shop at Asian stores. Some people say it makes you healthier, but I know for sure it makes me happier.
Oh wow. Thanks for sharing. It makes me so happy to hear that you are so interested in asian foods & stores. And the other two channels you mentions they are super legit. For me, that's a lot of encouragement to be mentioned in the same list. Thank you!
growing up as a mexican i obviously always went to hispanic grocery stores. though now that im older i absolutely love asian food and i often go to hmart, or 99 ranch. the only problem is i get overwhelmed at the amount of choices, and i get alot of stares so its kinda intimidating 😭
That is exactly what my sister in law & mom in law feel about asian stores. :-) There are just too many options. I feel confused too. Here is my tip, I told them the same, just choose the slightly more expensive one if you don't know which one to buy.:) Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I love my Asian grocery stores! I started going to get mountain yam for okonomiyaki but now I go for all of my cute cleaning supplies like strawberry shaped dish sponges :) I don’t mind cleaning produce at home if it means I get to try veggies they don’t sell at western stores. And it’s great to support local businesses in general!
There was a week where I just went to our Asian Supermarket almost everyday... first day I went with my father, he wanted some meat to cook. The next day, went with my mother, she needed vegetables & meat to cook for the family. The next day, went with my older sister, she needed meat for what she was gonna cook for Christmas dinner...
I love the coffee stick's, aloe vera juice , seaweed, small gold fish egg's, sticky rice, ok I could go on. But when I went in I was lost tell a lady helped me I go all the time now.
Not sure about other Asian countries, a lot of Chinese products, we put the production date instead of expiration date on the bag. That can be confusing.😅 Normally the manufacturer will put the shelf life (we say “保质期”)on the bag as well, so definitely need some calculation. :)
@@happyappetite8079 Hi, you just need to google to see how they really look like and how to open them 😅 Definitely not cutting it like it some apple or watermelon..
Well when I lived in California I went to King Ranch in West Covina I didn't I didn't have any problems shopping there if I didn't know what something was then I would just ask but generally I can tell you that I was probably the only white girl in there but I didn't care because I want the good deals they have good deals they have fresh fish and you just order what you want and they kill it for you and you know cook it for you and everything else and they have great prices on chicken and eggs and stuff like that so and then there's always the Chinese little restaurant that's in there that you eat your lunch at before you go home so I didn't have any problems but there again I mean I had lived in California long time so you know I wouldn't be afraid at all to go into Asia Market
