As a youtuber watching this, the whole 2 hours are SO INSIGHTFUL when it comes to making content and the decision behind how you guys manage your youtube channels. Literally had the same thoughts about evolving content, getting editors, the thing about clickbait, and even some history stuff from how youtube was 5 years ago and how it is now. Even the conscious decision of quitting jobs, making ultimatums and all that bit just gave me meaningful flashbacks. This is a podcast episode every struggling and starting RU-vidrs should watch.

This was fun, and Chris is rapidly becoming one of my favorite people. In a non obsessive way. I think what makes him great is that he’s a perfect blend of intelligent adult reactions and attitudes, and adolescent humor and craziness. I hope you get as far as you want with films. I think both your films on Fukushima were excellent and all of your vids are fun.

I agree! I actually found Connor first like a year ago, then I stumbled across a video he did with Chris and Natsuki, then I got introduced to Joey through a video they all did, and then I found trash taste where I discovered garnt. Chris has grown on me and I find myself watching all of his stuff. He's my favorite in a non obsessive way too. I just enjoy his skills as a creator (his journey across Japan videos are BEAUTIFULLY done, like documentaries) and he seems like a really genuine dude. His ability to connect with people and learn their stories is remarkable.

Im still amazed at just how GOOD the quality of this podcast is right from episode one. Usually it takes most podcasts a few dozen, (sometimes well over 100) episodes to get this good. The guys bounce off eachother really well, they have there own office with high quality cameras and several angles as well as eye catching graphics. I gotta say, I really loved how they treated Chris as a guest. I'm guessing it was easy since they were friends before this but I feel like a lot of RU-vidrs want to watch their guests in uncomfortable situations. Either they treat it as a spotlight, in-depth interview about everything in their life or make them engage in some cringy game or questionnaire. I like how they were super respectful of Chris's content and didn't try to force any anime taste on to him even though that's what they mainly talk about. They made it a point to discuss HIS videos and compare it to theirs and made it clear that they loved them. I didn't feel like they were leaving him out of the conversation at any point or ever thought "why did they even bring this dude on?" They made him an essential part of the narrative without making it seem unnatural. 10/10/

@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 3 года назад
I think a lot of this stems from this podcast intentionally being both for anime and all those spillover discussions that don't fit on their channels. They've been yearning to not just be known as "anitubers" and here's that chance, so they welcome talking to people who have a different interest. Had a similar experience in my life when I was younger where I thought that it was importsnt to find a dating partner that also loved anime like I did. I got my wish...a bit too literally, lol. All the person watched was anime (and in turn, the dating soured because their dating advice came from harem anime). I realized I watched way more than just anime than I had thought and wanted to talk about other interests instead of just anime and his other interest of video games (which I like also) and I couldn't talk to them about anything live-action. Now, I don't give a damn if a partner watches anime, just be respectful of the medium as lots of people have a niche interest. What's most important is being able to speak on a diversity of subjects with someone so nothing grows stale and you're not so one-note. That seems to really be the backbone of Trash Taste.

Chris is a Bad Ass. An English regular guy lost in the Awe that is Japan. Abroad in Japan is way way underrated. The guy is British stiff humor straight out of Monty Python I swear.

I have keeping up with Chris’s videos since March, and I’ve recently been watching some Trash Taste after watching the RU-vidrs’ channels 😆. I’m only seeing this now, but I’m glad because it touches on things I’ve considered or had a hard time with when considering a career. It was great to hear from people I admire and think are doing an excellent job as RU-vidrs 👍🏼

Just the sight of Chris surrounded by anime figures and plushies is enough to make me crack up. The setup is so out of his element LOL Super hilarious conversation as usual that was surprisingly insightful :D loved it!
