No. This is the soundtrack of "You, being back at home and contemplating what _you __*__did wrong_* and what your "friends" did _do wrong_ (by you). And then you just want to punch something ..(hit a wooden door. 'It gives in, so you don`t hurt yourself) And then /watch?v=qLrnkK2YEcE But, in the end; don`t take everything so seriously.
15 year old me: "What an annoying fighting song. The game designers must have brain damage." 38 year old me: "This is one of the greatest musical pieces of my life."
Ohhhhh shhh***t you nailed it! Could be true!! I almost have the same story! 15 year old me i said this is one of the best fighting theme music, now at 35, this is the best masterpiece ever😂❤
@@SethJV Because it takes time, experience and patience to fully comprehend complex music? Also this has far more depth than what's played in the game, making it far more immersive, giving it layers etc.
+Ridalia When you put all your heart into something, people notice. It's not that the triangle overpowers the other instruments, Its that you're giving it an inordinate amount of attention. ..Well, either that or it just happens to be really close to a mic...
+T0rche Well, you don't become a triangle player. You become a percussionist, which involves being able to play several different instruments, including the triangle, very often several of them for each single track. This track is very heavy on triangle (which isn't as easy as it seems, since it can be muted with the other hand and has often complex and/or fast rhythm patterns) but he also plays that... uhm... wind simulator?
+radicaledward84 lol thanks for the info!! Here let me return the favor :) .... I did a little research and it's called an "aeoliphone" or "wind machine". It's especially made to reproduce the sound of wind in orchestral compositions. Wikiepdia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_machine
I love the slight murmurs in the crowd in the beginning, no I'm not even talking about the eruption of cheers, I'm talking about just before that, like "oh shit, this is about to be epic." But then they couldn't contain themselves and cheered XD
If you've been to one of them and they played this piece, you would know they play the intro video and then time the music with the battle scene. People always cheer right after the music starts. It's in every one of those concert recordings.
I have goosebumps. And I smiled when I heard the audience making sounds of "AH!" at the first few seconds, and the smile widened when the cheered at the start.
I love how everyone claps. It's hitting their nostalgia buttons for those who grew up on the fantasy provided by a simple ps1 game;12 years later. The same people who paid to watch an amazing orchestra perform classics. A true testament to the power of music and its effect on the collective mind. How beautiful, Bravo!
One of the, if not, THE BEST Battle theme of all battle themes from the FF series... Always gives me the chill hearing this song. Shout out to Triangle-kun who passionately sounded played his triangle. He's the star of this whole orchestra.
For many years, this soundtrack and other FF soundtracks randomly appears in my head and gets stuck. I always find myself coming back, cause this never gets old
When I was kid, I thought this was just boring music But when looking back at this, I realized hey, this was an greatests that was part of my childhood
I believe people's "best" are usually tied with the first FF they've played. My first FF was 8, 7, then 9. I didn't get to play the old ones until the PS2 eras and hence I don't have much memories of them.
Everytime I see this, I smile so big. I hear it, and I tear up. This song, and the rest of Final Fantasy's score, holds a special place in my heart. It was my childhood, for the most part, and it taught me many lessons.Nobuo Uematsu is an incredible man
What I love about the battle music on every FF game is that it has the same beat. No matter what it is, it always has the same beat. Love it! FF8 is my favorite for both game and music. I have the soundtracks for Final Fantasy six, seven and eight. Six is my second favorite
This is probably the best version that I've heard of all the orchestral versions. Some of the other versions sound anaemic. This one feels energetic and powerful. The musicians really went hard on this. Especially the triangle.
Non-musicians may not appreciate just how fun this would be to perform for many of these musicians. The fast bombastic nature of something like this is quite different and often more technical than much of the classical stuff they would have been educated on. This type of music is very unique to the gaming medium and rarely would you hear a song like this in a film or tv show which orchestras would be usually performing for when not performing classical stuff for a live audience. The pace and technicality ''feels good'' when playing certain/most instruments involved here. Hard to describe to anyone who doesn't play an instrument.
Regardless of what anyone may ever say, Final Fantasy, has always had the very best music of any game. This, people, is just the FIGHT music. The level of composure and technicality is on par with anything Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Bach, Tchaikovsky, etc. ever wrote. Those classical composers would consider this a formidable challenge to their skill.
Composer is Nobuo but the orchestration has to do with Arnie Roth also, I'm a great fan of the genius of Uematsu but I don't think it can be compared with a great symphony, it has less compositional depth. But one thing is for sure, the old genius composers like Beethoven, Mozart, schubert... they would be surprised with this kind of music, really cinematic and in 19th century as nothing like that, and also they would love beautiful melodies like to zanarkand or Aeriths theme... those are plain genius :')
The monster that always pops into my mind when I hear this battle theme is that one round floating spinning clock face that you encounter out in the meadowy terrains.
To all the musicians and conductor for this orchestrated song--Love your hard work and talent! For a game thought lost, but never forgotten in my heart and mind--This is an epic game. I'm a veteran of Final Fantasy 8 (FFVIII). Finally, playing FF8 remastered in 2020 on Steam version. My skills are being tested over 20+ years! Heh-heh "Nostalgia"
+alucard2893 It's not the best but it is one of the very best. Especially because dumb people don't understand the junction system and terrorize the whole game for it. Anyone who says that FFVIII is one of the worst just doesn't get the fairly easy gameplay mechanic. Because it had great music, a good story (even better than VII, even tho it is my favourite) and, till this day, acceptable graphics. The only parts above it are VI and VII. IX and XII are on the same level. X being mediocre at best.
