Its a bit more than being at the house. 1. The neighborhood was "burglarized" three or four times. And suspicious activity. 2. Two weeks b4 the tragedy Ahmaud was seen by two members of the neighborhood going into the house at night. When the police came he was gone. Leaving out of the back of the house is mad suspect. Why not come out and say whats the deal? 3. Those events led to the day of the tragedy. Ahmaud could of said what do yall want? When the mcmichaels pulled up next to him to ask him. 4. *according to opening statement, and this is allegedly. The mcmichaels stopped pursuing at a certain point. Travis gets out of the truck. Ahmaud runs by him. Travis calls the police. Ahmaud is then confronted by roddie and ahmaud turns around and goes back towards the mcmichaels. This is where the cell phone footage starts and where travis pulls out his gun. I would argue a community has it in there right to know who the people in their neighborhood are. The neighborhood was not an outstanding phenomenally beautiful neighborhood now…… keeping it real, the neighborhood is a regular run of the mill average neighborhood, people make comments based on the caliber of the person they are , when this lady made that statement and didn’t feel it was somewhat perturbed she’s letting you see her inner self she may be a nice lady but internally she feels a particular way which cause her to blurt that out.
If you use a little common sense you would think to yourself: What's more suspicious here? That he's black? Or that he is wandering around a construction site, dressed in clothes that indicate he is neither working construction nor overseeing any design aspect, and there are thousands of dollars worth of tools and materials just lying around? A lone guy wandering around a construction site and painfully obviously not doing any kind of work is 🚩🚩🚩🚨🚩🚨🚩🚨🚩🚨🚩. In the state of Florida just being on a construction site without authorization is a felony because you're obviously up to no good if you're there. Yep, “you mixed or lightskin, stfu” is kinda racist. For the record, I’m black. Only saying that so my opinion will matter to you, since that’s what you apparently care about
The thought that I could have died 3 times in my life for checking out unfinished homes while walking home from school or jogging during some quick cardio. This is America 🇺🇸 smh
You can count maybe a hundred times you could have died in your life. And yes walking onto someone else's property can bring about death in some situations.
So this white man that works 1w hours a day 5 to 6 days a week. Treats everyone the same. Has helped people regardless of race of sex. But its my world because I'm white? Racism goes both ways in this world and anyone that thinks any different is ignorant. Only way thats going to change is someone alot higher than us. All we can do is as individuals is treat everyone the same in each situation regardless. Wring is wrong and right is right. Dont treat some worse or better because of race, sex, gay, straight etc. Be blessed all
I dont think you would have started punching a guy with a gun though would you? Even if you were in the right 100% any bit of common sense would say not to try and attack a guy with a shotgun for crying out loud?

I agree 100% with Tanya and yes, I am very much white. I was happy to see so many white people march against racism and for Ahmaud. His mother is amazing.

I really admired her for saying that. Shows honesty. The average white person would NEVER do that. But I found some of the most bold and courageous white people in a short documentary titled: Whitewashed: Unmasking The World Of Whiteness. 🤣 Cute title huh? Anyway it interviews white people who discuss their experiences with white privilege and entitlement in America. The honesty will FLOOR you. There's even one guy who says he was taught that blacks were the "same as animals and in just the same way you wouldn't abuse a cat or a dog, you wouldn't abuse a black person". 🤣😂😂 But he knows he's a victim of the crap he was taught and is trying to change (cont'd)
@Janelle Bentley ..... i very often despise racists but I wasn't able to despise these people in the documentary (and some of them don't qualify as racist at all). But I couldn't feel any anger at these people. The honesty was just too rich and so precious. To hear the truth spoken for a change and in such a matter of fact way was a bit overwhelming for me. Don't know what it will do for you but it occasionally helps me to release alot of pent up anger 🤬. I actually feel more sympathy or empathy for these White people in the documentary than any negative feelings whatsoever ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rdaF_h06YX4.html
When my parents had our old house started to be built, a lot of people walked through it. It never bothered my parents. If anything one time we went to check the house and there was someone walking through it. My dad gave them a tour. Lol. I don't know how many times I've done it. It's fun and as long as your not messing up the construction it's not hurting anyone

I’m an architect and love walking through construction sites to see what’s happening and all that. Usually sites are restricted but sometimes you can ask workers to do a walk through if they are there. Or you just walk in if it’s not closed off or not restricted. The site in question was not restricted or fenced off, I probably would have done the same as Ahmaud and the other curious people that went there. BUT clearly now that’s a very dangerous and life threatening thing to do if you’re seen as a ‘suspicious’ person. I believe the owner of the construction site was more annoyed at the security video alarm notifications he was getting more than the fact that many teens/kids and other people including Ahmaud were curious to take a look. He never called the cops on anyone or took action because nothing was ever taken. He also was concerned for their safety. Like with all construction sites you have to have safety gear (clothes) on to get in and I think it may have been his concern that the teens and other curious visitors would harm themselves over and above his security system alerting him at inconvenient times. You might not have been a person that wanders into construction sites but a lot of people do. For me and some others, my fascination with sites led to a career. Then with some it just remained a fascination. It’s not a crime. Worst case you get a warning for loitering or worst case trespassing. UPDATE: Justice was found for Ahmaud. It’s bittersweet. But I’ll take it.
I've walked through construction sites, VARIOUS, through out all my life. Maybe been seen a couple of times. THEN they, site person, would come and ask if I needed help or I would just state that I was curious about the home. THEN, they would leave me their card or show me around or offer another home to possibly show me. No guns, chasing, or any problems. This was a murder. Nothing less.
Did you look around good before darting inside and then haul butt down the street when you see someone is on the phone watching you from their front yard?
@@slimjim7411 So for the heinous crime of being "nosey" it warranted him being chased down, and shot 3 times point blank with a shotgun? What do you need, for them to be wearing pointy white hoods?
Saying that she told herself "Now, don't be a racist" is her telling us that she wondered about what he was doing there specifically because it was a Black man in the doorway. Now if she can learn to tell herself that BEFORE she leaves the house each morning, before she encounters anyone at all whatsoever, then she won't make a habit of getting caught letting the passive racist cat out of the passive racist bag. But better to be guilty and immediately admonish yourself than be like the rest of the neighborhood and have a racist thought and decide to run with it, with a gun in your hand, behind the wheel of a pickup truck. So I'm gonna call her a work in progress....cuz she's trying....
If only black people could sort out the ridiculous levels of crime within their own communities people wouldn't get suspicious about these things in the first place.
When we were building our new house people in the neighborhood would walk in and around our home until we put windows and doors on the building. While we were looking for a builder we looked at homes to see if any of them were not up to what we wanted to see from builders. (It helped that my father-in-law built his own house, so that helped a lot!) People are just curious to see what others are building.
@@89sn2001 The owner stated that nothing was stolen and he understood neighbors were curious. The only person chased down and murdered was the only black man who looked around and never took anything! Question, where does a guy with running shorts and a tee shirt hide lumber, or power tools, or a GUN, while running? Answer that, if you can? By the law, none of that is a crime involving capital punishment! Bigot!
That’s the part people appear to be missing , unless home under construction are way off the road and posted no trespassing or fenced . People visit those hones all day long , curious , getting ideas of process, etc. if your not familiar with how a home is built , many stop and view it . It’s pretty common only extremists look for an opportunity to kill someone in situations like that .

I don’t think she meant that she was racist herself. She probably meant to not do the “racist” thing and ask him why he was there. I’m so happy justice was served!!
I feel like this healine could be getting the wrong reaction by the clickbait headline. Calling yourself out in public with prejudice in front of others isn't always a bad thing if you're correcting the negative thought. Especially in modern American society. I've met people whom go their whole life that will never admit to having preconceived biased thoughts through upbringing and social structure. Everyone is born and develops their identity by socioeconomic factors. This was a predominantly white neighborhood. So it's always possible for the human mind to see someone that doesn't look like everyone else in their bubble, and have even the slightest urge to question themselves.
Checking yourself, more people should give it a try. The world would be a lot better off if we just thought shit through, because at the end of the day we’re human and far from perfect.
Maybe it’s because of the nights prior to him being in the house. Everyone wants to only talk about him being in the new construction house but not about him being in the neighborhood all the other nights that things were stolen. Not saying he stole anything and he sure as hell didn’t deserve to die even if he did but the intentions of the people living in the neighborhood were to stop things from being stolen by what they thought was him. They tried to hold him there until the cops came which is legal. He tried to fight them and got shot. As terrible and unfortunate as that is I think we can all see this is why we were taught to not be in the wrong place at the wrong time. We were all taught to respect peoples property and most of us aren’t going “running” in the neighborhood away from our house. Several decisions and events on both side are what caused this horrible event but all anyone wants to talk about is the video showing him walking through a new construction house.
I work for a construction company and it's pretty obvious when people are working on a property and they're rarely alone. And they don't wear basketball shorts... my family went to visit our house we were building one time and I don't imagine we were creeping around it like he probably was. Why can't people except that he had criminal intentions especially that he walked into a house that wasn't his twice and had previous robbery charges. It in no way means that he deserved what happened to him but people have to be able to accept facts. Just the same way that George Floyd and Jacob Blake and Briana Taylor and that guy from Atlanta all did things that led to their altercations with LEO and also led to their deaths/Jacob's injuries.... it should be a lesson because loss of life is always a tragedy. I knew a white 19 year old that took LSD and ran naked to the cops and a black cop shot this 5'9 naked white boy and you know what we all said... it sucks but he was a good person who made a bad decision and it ended in tragedy. And unlike everyone who always says 'if it was the the other way around and black cop shot a white person it'd be the biggest thing ever'... bullshit. As unfortunate as it is some times in life, people are responsible for their own actions. Making excuses for them doesn't do anything except maybe win you some blood money. Play stupid games, wine stupid prizes. Don't do shit that gets you into shit. Maybe if Ahmaud hadn't been a thief he would be fine. Ain't shit to do with his skin color.. it has EVERYTHING to do with his actions. And the two people who tried of vigilante justice are stupid as crap and they're going to get theirs too because taking it upon yourself as a private citizen to run down a robber and end up killing them..... there's no words. But if y'all keep trying to defund the police there will probably be a lot more of that sadly. Casing a house in nooooo way means you deserve to die... I'd say that there is actually nothing that makes you deserving of death but definitely not walking into an unfinished house. This story is ridiculous on so many levels. Difference between white and black people is black people will stand by and defend each other even when they know they're in the wrong.... white people have zero loyalties to each other.... if you're shit then you're shit.... and honestly it should be that way. I'm not glorifying murderers, rapists, drug addicts, robbers, etc. but everyone deserves the right to life.
If we are gonna get upset for someone being honest about a racist bias then why would others want to follow suit and be honest and conscious of their biases..
That's how people change. You have to admit fault to correct it. I agree 100% I can even day I have some racial bias that I really need to correct. We're all human and we need to learn how to accept our differences and similarities without putting another group down to make ourselves feel superior.
@@HoldenNY22 Racism was a carefully constructed weapon, created and wielded by those who held the power.
