The rockers and lash adjusters haven’t changed in the GRC compared to the GRY. Can be confirmed by checking part numbers. We made a video about the differences between the engines here: ru-vid.comS87hXoSNhWg?feature=share
It looks fairly straightforward. I imagine the hardest thing to do would be to remove all of the parts and bits in the way of the valve cover like the fuel rail, and all the different connectors move them out of the way, and then pop the valve, cover off and then just take a screwdriver and gently move the rockers back so I can gently pop them off and take a magnet and pull out the valve Lash adjusters and assemble the new rockers with the retainer clips then clip the new valve lash adjusters is then just pop them on. Do I have to do any timing of any sort or any marking to remember what position the old rockers and valve lash adjusters were before I remove them or no because I’m mechanically inclined. I took several years of automotive in college at a trade school and one of those classes was a engine removal and replace so I did do some get to do inside engine work a bit but that said I’m always a bit hesitant going inside the engine me personally, but at the same time when it comes to that engine especially being a new high-performance engine know Mechanic has really seen before yet especially in the town of Lubbock, Texas where I live finding a good mechanic that I trust with any of my vehicles is genuinely impossible and I doubt Toyota will do it so I might as well do it myself because I trust myself more than any mechanic around here in my town because many of them genuinely don’t care unfortunately so I guess a way to shorten this up is by saying how easy do you think it would be to do this which I should’ve said in the beginning but oh well it seems like all the genuine good mechanics live elsewhere in the world just not in my town of Lubbock Texas sadly so I try to do most of the things myself if I can I even have broke down and bought myself a genuine Porsche OBD two dealer level Bosch KTS 500 internal diagnostic scanner off of eBay for about $2500 for my Porsche 986 Boxster just because I don’t really trust anyone else with that car and the only mechanic I do trust in this town with that car aren’t always available at the moment so I try to do everything myself and what I can’t do at the moment I learn about the best I can for the future
Yep it’s pretty straight forward. We’ve got another video coming where we show the rocker covers coming off but our install video is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D-AK_h9BpTg.html It’s actually easier to drop the cams though and install that way. Got another video coming on this too 👍
