Someone bought up almost all the RECIPES for Toxic Focusing Crystals and Toxic Maintenance Oils skyrocketing the price in the Trading Post.
It is NOT worth buying these recipes at the current prices of 28 gold and 11 gold! INSTEAD you can spend 7,777 Karma on Torn Pages from the PSNA vendor (wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Torn.... These give you a chance for the recipe as well, nearly for free!

A lot of people have the tendency to want to delete their ascended crafting materials, such as Piles of Bloodstone Dust, Dragonite Ore and Empyreal Fragments. If this is something you're doing, PLEASE STOP NOW!
There are Huntsman, Weaponsmithing and Artificer recipes that allow you to convert these account bound materials, which you can sell for a decent profit on the Trading Post!

I'd also like to point out that if most players, like myself, find themselves capping their inventory on raw materials at 250, please upgrade to a 500 cap or greater before you start crafting these materials!

Ah very true! I have my material storage capped at 2,500 at the moment and depending on my activities in game tend to still overcap some materials (although that might be an indicator of my playtime during the week as well). I started making the ingots, stars and bricks at some point as well. But I have a surplus in my bank now due to slowly getting my legendary armor. Prior to the legendary armor, they were invaluable though.

it's the economically worse way of doing things. Everything that is liquid unless you have a very specific plan(like stockpiling a material for a legendary item step on the side) should be sold or transformed. Ascended reagents, unless you actually bot or play 15h a day for a month can all be processed through gobblers unless you do not have lw3. Buying raw mat storage is like loosing gold to make your gold less liquid for 95% of the players, 5% remaining are 12K+ achievments points players who know the game by ear and who play for multiple legendaries crafts at once. If you want a specific reagent either you buy it with the gold you got from selling your drops OR you buy packs of materials with lw currencies and then sell the remaining.

Scrapper good choice. The converters are worth earning. I use them daily. And never have an excess flowing from my mat storage. But i have every converter. This really adds up over time.

It's hard to not play scrapper for most of the Open World Activities. The combination of permanent superspeed and quickness is something I tend to miss on other classes. On top of that having access to stealth, jumps, etc. just makes the class great to play imo.

This is cool, I've been using Gobblers for years now, I never thought to sell crafted items. For people starting out, this is gonna clear up a lot of inventory space. I had no idea people were throwing them away though, that's kinda nuts, never throw anything away except maybe items only good as part of a collection that the TP or the NPC won't buy. What we REALLY need a gobbler for though is Tenebrous Crystals, Shimmering Crystals, and Prismaticite Crystals. The former I'm always selling to the NPC and the latter I'm just storing on a toon, hoping someday these stacks and stacks will become useful.

Thank you! Yeah, I've been on a quest to find outputs for account bound items and noticed for quite a few of them sell at a premium because of time gating or ingredients being account bound. I feel you on the Tenebrous and Shimmering crystals, as I can't find any output that is non-account bound sadly. For the Prismaticite there is somewhat of a solution, but it's not ideal: some of the Commander's Dragon Slayer weapons sell at a slight profit if you use buy-listings for the ingredients and a sell-listing for the output. In general they usually cost 8-9g to craft and the dagger and longbow usually sell for 10g with a sell listing. I have no idea about the velocity though, so you might be stuck waiting for the item to actually sell. So safeguarding them on an alt might be preferable for now.

So, I've been checking the material costs versus the final products, and it occurs that the benefits are null or negative as of May 7th 2023. The exception is the Magnanimous Tuning Crystal which are still worth crafting and selling. As someone stated earlier, if a lot of people are supplying lots of products, the prices are gonna drop due to the high offer. Thanks for sharing nonetheless. :)

Thanks! I crafted Toxic Focusing Crystals still at a profit this morning, I am gonna wager empyreal fragments will remain the most profitable out of the 3 unless the meta heavily changes. But yeah, the prices might fluctuate a bit in the near future so calculating whether it's worth crafting is definitely the thing to do for now. Over time I believe the prices will even out again though, a lot of my favorite recipes feature account bound ingredients and the TP usually offers some form of premium for those. The Magnanimous versions you mentioned could potentially benefit from having 2 account bound ingredients if the market remains like this.

@@phandrel I gotta admit that I haven't been entirely thorough while checking the prices. I've checked them all except for the toxic sharpening stone and toxic tuning crystal. I've jumped to the conclusion somewhat too quickly, but most recipes aren't profitable anymore at this very moment. ^^' So, yeah, as you stated, it is best checking the prices beforehand. :)

I just convert them to ingots using the “obsidian craft” filter in the craft panel. 100 to 1 conversion rate. I also purchased some storage expansions to increase my storage capacity. At some point, I will craft ascended gears. These ingots will come in handy.

@@lestermorales782 That's a problem for "rich" people. I'm not there yet. I have 8 characters. Each has at least 3 sets of gears. That is 3 x 8 = 24 sets of armors and weapons. 24 x 6 armor pieces + 24 x 2.5 weapons = 200+ ascended items that I can craft.

The problem with crafting is that the more people do it, the higher the supply and the lower the prices you can ask and as such the profitability will go down. So really what you should be hoping is that only a few people will start doing this and not many or the prices will go down considerably.

While I do think it's realistic that the price gets impacted for a bit if supply increases. At some point the price should stabilise, as the TP tends to pay a premium for account bound materials.

I farm my ascended materials in LW3, specific map harvest nodes gives dragonite ore, the mining gives bloodstone, and the logging gives empyreal, using bounty glyphs I get double

Yeah Tower of Nightmares is a boon for collecting the spores. Kessex Hills is technically farmable, but it's a pain to set up and ideally you have someone helping you so you can teleport to the same map instance on all of your alts.

Exactly, Inventory management isn't fun. I sell everything less than one silver at a merchant because it's not worth the time it takes for the trading post to generate the "item sold successfully" message. I don't open random gear before I sell it either. I've considered turning autoloot off, but decided that was too extreme.

@@simex909 Exactly. It's personal. It depends on the nature of your account/(s). I DO open random gear, but I'll store some stacks and do it once a month while youtube is playing in the background. That works for me, but I can imagine how that wouldn't work for somebody else. For bloodstone dust etc, I'll gobble the stacks on my main account, but for my other accounts, I just dump it. Not worth the time/space, and alt accounts are low on unlocked crafting anyways. I do think the video's suggestions are good for accounts that are maybe under 4 years old. But after that you're very likely to have better ways to make gold for the time invested.

Thanks! Yeah it's been my first try at chroma keying and can definitely use improvement. I've started working with the advanced settings, but I kept losing part of my own textures so decided it would be fine for the first video. Definitely looking to improve for the next ones though.

Just play around a little bit with min/max values and/or try a second chroma key for the green contour, as the green close to the object usually is a tiny bit darker, it's sometimes hard to catch all the color you want for a single chroma key. Keep up the Content! :)

Damn, toxic maintenance oil went from 10-20 silver to 3-5 silver a piece :P Good for the buyers, i guess xd Toxic focusing crystals (empyreal fragments) are still profitable, even with the increasing costs for dust and toxic spores. I think for now it's fine if we give put the bloodstone and dragonite into Herta, Mawdrey II, Princess, and the Gleam of sentience.

Yes and no. Some of the items to craft you cited are cheaper to buy then to craft. For instance, the 1st one you cited: Toxic maintenance oil. 5 of them is worth around 34s. Crafting 5 of them uses around 50s worth of materials. Some receipes are profitable, but most of them aren't and you'd be better selling off the materials rather than crafting the item.

Empyreal Fragments stack up like crazy. For the Dragonite Ore and Bloodstone Dust I luckily have gobblers for but I have stacks and stacks of Empyreal Fragments scattered in my characters inventories. Shame the Crystalline Dust is also used for Gift of Dust or I'd do this.

There are two relevant gobblers for each type of ascended material, so you can convert 450-600 into gifts every day once you have them. If you farm the same content over and over and get heaps of the same material every day that might not be enough, but for most players it should be the easiest solution.

Is it worth it to buy globs of ectos on the TP to salvage, or should I only salvage from equipment drops instead of selling them?

According to the [fast] farming website, it currently isn't worth to do so with a Copper-Fed Salvage O Matic (or equivalent kit). Runecrafter's it's slightly worth and Silver-fed is a profit going for dust. fast.farming-community.eu/salvaging/salvageables you can check it here, if you type Glob of Ectoplasm in the search box. If you are not maxed out on luck yet, salvaging ectos also yields an ungodly amount of luck. It definitely helped me max out my luck really fast. As for salvaging from items: make sure you use the proper kits/salvage o matics for them as well to optimise your profits. If not, selling greens and yellows on the TP might turn out more profitable. If there's enough interest, I can definitely make a video on that topic.

@@phandrel Thanks. I don't have any mat eaters or salvage o matics. Most greens and yellows I just sell on the TP, but when I don't, I use mystic or BL salvage kits (I have tons of both). I go back and forth on salvaging for ectos versus selling and buying ectos when I need them, and usually default to the latter due to lack of immediate need. My conservative gambler brain tries to tell me: buy only what you need and sell the rest rather than stock up for something you don't think you'll ever need.

@@Draelos Black Lion Salvage Kits are definitely worth using on Exotics. You will get out the rune/sigil and still get the salvage materials. As for sell vs salvage, it's a bit of a toss up. Technically, if you don't need the materials and can dedicate the resources elsewhere, selling would be preferable. But if you eventually need the materials, selling is not always the best option because you lose 15% with the Trading Post Taxes. Personally I try to strike a bit of a balance between both.

Those 2 are rather annoying, but there is somewhat of a solution that requires extra materials. You can use both Auric Dust and Ley Line Sparks to craft Fulgurite (also needs Obisidian Shards and Bottles of Airship Oil). Then you can craft Jeweled Damask Patches, which sell for almost double of regular damask patches. Alternatively, Jeweled Deldrimor Steel Plated Dowels could be crafted as well, but they're much less profit than the Jeweled Damask Patches.

According to [fast] farming, the Gleam of Sentience is about 97 silver profit (fast.farming-community.eu/open-world/converters) and they do split it evenly between the 3 sentient convertors that require T7 mats (35.5 silver each). To compare to the methods described in the video, we would need to craft 15 of each of the toxic utilities so that we can use 300 empyreal fragments, 300 bloodstone dust and 300 dragonite ore total. This will allow us for a somewhat 1 on 1 comparison, although it's not a perfect method. If we make 15 toxic focusing crystals and 15 toxic maintenance oils, our profit is 1g25s, which is better than the convertor. Toxic Sharpening Stones leaves us at a slight deficit. So if you want to truly optimise: I would say to only cash in on the Sentient Anomaly (Bloodstone Dust + Dragonite Ore) and use the other T7 mats for crafting toxic utilities.

There are certain gizmos you can unlock through various achievements which will "gobble up" a lot of excess materials. @@phandrel Thank you, though after looking at the rewards i'm not sure it's "worth it". The Bloodstone Brick seems like the only decent use for it. On the other hand i explored the uses for the Dust and it seems there's some Bloodstone Fen and Dragon's End zone unlocks i can do with that.

I have no idea what to do with eternal ice shards thou. I get too many too quickly and I'll probably burn my karma to 0 if I convert all of it to LS4 mats, and I have all legendary trinkets. Got all recipes too.

Yeah, sadly Ice Shards are tied to karma to cash out on them. I've been planning a video around them to offer people alternative conversions than simply the shipments. Need to finish doing the math to make sure I'm not giving the wrong advice on that one though. Slight edit: I'll also make a karma farm video at some point :-)

Not directly, but there is a way to at least get a decent amount of gold out of Auric Dust. If you combine those with Obsidian Shards, Bottles of Airship OIl and Ley Line Sparks into Fulgurite, you can make Jeweled Damask Patches and Jeweled Deldrimor Steel Plated Dowels. The Jeweled Damask Patches sell for almost double the value of the non-jeweled versions.

When you double click the treasure maps, you get a special action key that you can press and will guide you to the right location. Ideally, you only farm for the buried treasures during the "Search for the Buried Treasure" event, as those chests contain the more valuable items.

They are needed for crafted ascended armour, too, but even that you could get through strikes, raids, fractals, wvw. You can hang on to a decent amount for the different gobblers, though. That way, you get a few free unid gears per day.

Yeah, some recipes are locked to specific crafts. You can change your professions around for a slight fee, without losing progress in the ones you "unlearned" though. You can then swap back later for that same fee again. Or level it up on an alt.

Yes, sadly, the price rose to a ridiculous level. I pinned a comment about it. Don't spend your gold on the recipe now, I think they will eventually go down to their earlier prices. In the meantime, you can buy torn pages from pact supply vendors (wiki link is in the pinned post). You can buy 6 pages per day for 7,777 karma each and eventually unlock the recipes like that. In those torn pages, there are also recipes for celestial pearl weapons, of which I talk in my charged quartz crystal video 😀.

You already lose gold on the Toxic Maintainence Oil, but the Toxic Focusing Crystal is big profit. Recipe costs 28 gp on Trading Post, but it will pay for itself fairly quickly. Dragonite Ore is garbage right now - just delete.

I hate these 3 items and been looking for options to refine them but im not the best at crafting.

you can easily spend them if you try to craft legendary weapon ))

As @OneHalf said, crafting 1 gen 2 legendary and they'll just disappear. Other things I like are the Empty Keg (cooking) if you have a lot of flax and I personally also spend a hefty amount making mithril earrings to convert to research notes.

ummm am i missing something here? all of these will leave you with a loss. lets take the toxic sharpening stones for example. Just the 3 Crystalline Dust has a TP value of 33s, whereas the toxic sharpening stone that you use the dust to make only has a TP value of 7s if you slow sell it. how at all are these good crafting options? Same goes with the maintenance oil, its worth 5s on the TP but costs 50s worth of mats to craft.... ?????????

After the video got picked up by the algorithm and viewed by a lot of people, the profitability took a nosedive. So it's one to keep in mind in case things ever change, but for now sadly not worth the effort.

Nice option, thanks for info. But If more people start to craft and sell these items, price will drop significantly, resulting in near to 0 profit from crafting these, so you dont want to "hope that more and more people will catch on to these recipes" :D

Annnnd just like that, Toxic Maintenance Oil is no longer worth crafting, making it better to just destroy bloodstone again. Dragonite has always been garbage and should be thrown out too. Emp frags for focusing crystals are the only worthwhile craft. As for the eaters, they're noob traps. Too much clicking for too little gain (far too many garbage items that you can't quickly salvage or vendor away). If you value your time/sanity, you shouldn't bother with them.

I appreciate the info but atm recipes #1 & 2 are no longer profitable; recipe #3 costs 24g at tp so you gotta craft 60 times with a .4g profit/per (spend 6,000 empyrial frags) and only after this "small investment" the thing will start to be profitable...

Yeah someone (or multiple people) sadly bought out the recipes on t he trading post. As I mentioned in the pinned comment, you can still unlock it through the Pact Supply Network Agents for 7,777 karma. It's a bit RNG to unlock it that way, but it shouldn't take more than a couple of days and at least you're not paying 20+ gold that way.

Actually the information is wrong as it seems. Crafting 5 maintenance oil costs about 50s, and selling 5 gives you 34s. A single one is 6s80c

I truly hope not and if it does, let's hope it evens out at some point again. A solid alternative would be the magnanimous versions in that case, which use Fire Orchid Blooms. Because these are account bound as well and the TP (over time) tends to pay off for account bound materials.

How does it work? 3 Piles of Crytalline Dust worth 48.15s + 5 Pristine Toxic Spore Samples 33.2s = 81.35s The sold 5 Toxic Maintenance Oil worth 46.85s -15% = 39.82s. So where comes the profit in the picture? If you listen to this guy, you can burn gold easier, than pulling Bloodstone Dust out of the inventory

Sadly, I can't control what happens on the TP, and this video kinda caught me off guard (I had 50 odd views when I made this), with some people rushing the TP to buy out certain recipes. I try to focus more on method nowadays, I also sometimes post some updates in my discord :)

Eeeh, nah that stuffs getting dumped. I have no interest in crafting, and I make plenty of easy money through PVP, and these materials stack up fast. I'd rather save the space for the endless PVP reward boxes of exotics I'm accumulating.

The prices of the recipes sadly skyrocketed since my video: Toxic maintenance oil recipe went up 1,700%, Toxic Focusing crystal recipe went up 800%. The spread between buy and sell is at a ridiculous level too, so I'm assuming someone with a lot of liquidity bought out all the recipes and is trying to capitalize on this. Toxic Focusing crystals are still 22-29 silver profit (depending on if you insta sell or list) when putting in buy orders for crystalline dust + pristine toxic spore samples. So I wouldn't say you can't make money off of this anymore. As for making gold with something else. That'll always be the case regardless of what content is in a video. There's higher gph solo farms, there's selling achievements, etc. but those don't get rid of the T7 materials. I typically craft these when we are forming groups w/ our guild.
