Like your videos. Great advice. Say it how it is. I recently retired after 24 years. Poolies listen to him. He his a true Marine taking his time to share his experience and giving you advice on what it’s truly like. Great leader and mentor!
1. Save your money for mct & schoolhouse. 2. Don’t eat junk during your 10 day leave 3. Clean your uniform before you check into mct 4. Definitely don’t buy a car 5. Don’t get in trouble with the law
Very good advice. Don’t buy a car, and whatever you do, do not get into debt. Manage your money carefully. Do not buy anything you do not need, and remember that there is a different between “want” and “need”. You want everything, but you need very little.
Just got back from MEPS. Officially a poolee can't wait to get my ass to boot camp. Great channel and keep it up helps a lot and motivates me to go harder in training. Thank you!
My boyfriend on his ten day leave spent 2-4 hours every day walking up and down stairs with his ruck on to keep the bone density from boot camp for the first hike at MCT.
Man The Bluntness straight to the point Is exactly what the viewers need man and it is what's separates you from other military RU-vidrs keep this up your going to go huge 💯🤙
Not a Marine, not watching to be a Marine but your advice can be used in life in general. Keep up the content my man, definitely appreciate the bluntness 👍!
He's 100% correct. When you get home on boot leave you better stay in an animalistic frame of mind. Get up, put on your go fasters and run. I ran with a buddy who was a reservist 0311. We ran about 4 miles flat out hauling ass. When we stopped he puked and I laughed. Get the miles in. If you don't PT while you're on boot leave, you will be sucking wind and hating life at SOI/MCT. You can't imagine how much stamina you can lose in just 10 days , especially if you're eating trash, drinking beer and smoking cigarettes. Don't fuck around and smoke weed either.
I've witnessed a trend regarding to haircuts in about 11 months in the Marine Corps so far... Bootcamp: From metal clip to High & tight MCT: From High & tight to High fade PA School: From High fade to Medium fade Camp Pendleton (Fleet): From Low Fade to no haircut for up to 2 weeks.
@@returnfreedom I'm from MCI West Campen, HQSPTBN. although I go terminal this May it was a fun and interesting experience for me to see and meet different people there. The Colonel policy is for everyone to get haircuts at least once a week and yet some didn't get one for a couple weeks and gets handcuffed by rockers lol. Fun times.
100% Truth. Had to tell my family when I got home "I cannot support you!" SOI/MCT was physically harder for me than boot-camp to, and if you go Hollywood; you'll be humping mountains! lol
Im 16 plan on joining after highschool, love the content appreciate the information and advice still need to take a practice asvab to see what mos id be interested in id like to get some combat experience but still would prefer not to go to war its whatever if do end up going
Ima poolee myself and I'm cutting weight for basic lol 5"3-5"4 and gotta be 155lbs and I'm 159.2lbs rn lol. Can't wait to ship out. My dream is to become an officer one day and maybe have a family and a nice car. I'm already going in as an E-3 or E-2 and your videos are really helping me. CANT WAIT TO EARN THE TITLE
During my 10 day leave If I could join I would get essentials, good boots an extra pair of fatigues and some small essentials that I will use a lot in my career.
The marine corps makes you a warrior, it does NOT make you a man. Just remember that. Becoming a mam has to do with maturity and the ability to make tough decisions that you do not wanna make. Thats not the same as simply being a warrior.
Sound advice. As for the cars, you’re right. In fact I tell some of my friends now if you want to get a nice car cheap, find one through NFCU, or someone trying to sell theirs before they get sent to Okinawa or Diego Garcia 😂 Otherwise uber and lyft make that easier these days.
Anyone watching when he says take care of your uniforms. He means your alphas, you got 10 days get your alphas pressed, cleaned, set yourself up for success. Things like this are how you set up for meritorious promotions and may be fortunate enough to be a Lance right in the school house if you play your cards right. This is huge financially because you're talking about an extra $600 per month If you take a bit of time and do this stuff. Obviously there is the pride behind a promotion but $600 a month for a school house where you really don't be spending much money except for on haircuts and goofing off with your buddies you're talking about a couple thousand extra by the end.
Full Send Filosophy Idk about you but I've never had my alphas inspected once going into MCT or the schoolhouse. Haven't done anything to them since I got them
@@BIkopsking When I checked into MCT it was 100 degrees outside so the base commander issued an order that new arrivals would switch from alphas to cammies at the USO in San Diego.... So we did. Then when I got to the school house we showed up in civies and had to go change to cammies when we got there. I didn't check in with alphas until I got to my actual unit. But you're supposed to check in with alphas to MCT
Full Send Filosophy Yeah I had to when I went. But the second we got off the bus they made us change to cammies and just said to throw your uniform in your bag. Exact same at my schoolhouse. Now my alphas are all creased for the fleet in 2 months 😂
@@BIkopsking yeah make sure you take that trash to the cleaners before you check in because you gotta remember who you'll see when you check in the Co 1st sgt, Company commander, and a check list of others. Don't look like trash on your check in.
Love your videos brotha I go to boot camp in fifteen days cannot wait to begin my life n your videos are definitely a good source of information keep up the good work brotha and be safe
I remember the first hair cut I got after boot camp was a high and tight... after that, I decided to NEVER do it again 😂 went to medium fade right away and later to low fade.
Buy a red satin jacket with a giant EGA on it and a Death From the Sea banner along the bottom and a hash mark on the arm that says MCRD on it, to lay the foundation for you MCT, SOI, or Camp Johnson hash....
Back in '87 my SDI told us not to take ten days to report to MOS school. He recommended just a couple days home because those ten days count against leave. Has that changed?
There was a guy in my Platoon during our 22 week OSUT who would buy two pairs of Jordans every weekend pass.... TWO PAIRS!!! On top of that, he also bought a gold chain for $10,000, and a gold ring for $5,000... SAVE YOUR GODDAMN MONEY!!! He got stationed where I'm at and I overheard him talking to the jewelry company he bought them from... He's in a shit ton of debt and he's like 19 years old.
Honest to god I wouldn’t even try for RA, let alone 10 day leave. Hang on and save those precious ten days for after SOI or SOI/MOS School when you’re working doing your actual job in the FMF. Get SOI at the very least over with so you aren’t on camp guard or early bubble/ holding platoon. But that’s just my advice looking back, different strokes for different folks.
Good stuff man. I was wondering if you knew a thing or two about the intel field. There’s some things around the internet that explain some things but as far as entry level goes, or no experience, not much is being said. Going in at 26, prepping my butt up for some chewing up and an oorah. Thanks!
You funny asl..im finna start watching yo videos..I am in the process in enlisting but I gotta get my knee cleared Nd some court shit..but what are your advice on the reserves and active?
Good video and advice. Recommendation: You seem like a down to earth, knowledgeable NCO, however on your video the continual, ongoing, never ending profanity is NOT effective. It's one thing with Marines, I get it. It's another with the largely clueless civilian world, it makes you appear to be unprofessional. Advice for "NEWBIES": Do NOT take an advance pay, You'll screw your pay up for the next 6-12 months!! NEVER, ever, ever throw away paperwork. Get a file folder and KEEP it!! When you get to your next duty station get the company clerk to give you a "personnel file and a pay record" file jacket and file all that paperwork in reverse order. As the SGT stated, "Do NOT buy a car and a bunch of junk". BE QUIET, you've got 2 ears and 1 mouth, listen twice as much as you talk. Be on time (early), be squared away, DON'T Volunteer too much, in peacetime you'll get screwed and in wartime. you'll get killed!! READ and LEARN USMC Regulations on Uniforms, Promotions, Awards and Decorations, School Assignments, Educational Programs and Opportunities. "If you ask", you'll probably be told "No, you can;t do that ". IF you KNOW the regulation and LEARN how to do the paperwork you'll get what you want 90% of the time. Nearly EVERY regulation ends with this statement, "At the COMMANDERS discretion". Good Luck!!
True life, I had no one to explain this very truth to me back in the 88 after basic. I did what he's telling you all not to do. Family all of sudden asking me for cash, buying a car then going to iwakuni. Girls playing on you for cash. All I had to do was live in the barracks, eat on the Chow hall and wear my Cammys and save all my cash! Listen to this Marine, future Leather Necks? Wish I could of had this advice! Different life.
@Cool Breeze okay thank you sir, the reason why I asked is because I'm about to head out to bootcamp and I wanted to own the New Colt Python but I didn't know if I had to wait until I got out of the core or not
Could I buy a used motorcycle wherever I get stationed? Like from people who sell their vehicles? Another question. Could I get my MO (motorcycle operator license) as well? I should have done research but better word of mouth
