Can you drive 60/80 axles for a everyday Jeep and traveling thousands of miles? Would it be better if you put it on a trailer instead of driving it thousand a mile with the 392 or 426 Hemi. 11-27-23
Another great video. I was able to pick up the Dynatrac 44/60 serious performance combo for my JK for $9200 with arb air locker ( they were in stock) . I will be bolting them in this weekend.
@@mattmcdonough707 That’s who I ordered them from. I went with 4.88 and Eaton lockers. Also running 37’s. They arrived at top tier from dynatrac yesterday. Thinking I want to hit EJS but man I have a lot to get ready in 7 Sunday’s.
I got the axles for my xj from East coast gear supply. They were very nice to deal with. They'll build it however you want and it seems like with whoevers parts you want as long as it's good stuff.
@@station08 I got their dana 489 axles the rear 35 spline and the front 489. Mine were close to 11k with upgrades. I run 37s and I'm not too worried about breaking anything they are incredibly strong axles in a small package. I got ox lockers front and rear and I got the rear set 20 upgrade with disc brakes that's where they weld larger ends on the tubes to use larger bearings then the front and rear axle tubes are incredibly thick like 3/8 or 1/2 thick. My rig is set up for a mix of overland and hard trails I've tried to be careful about weight but I'm right around 5100 pounds with all my accessories and cage/armor frame stiffeners etc..
Great video. I had often wondered the difference. Any idea why the F9 is not more popular? Lighter and stronger, how often does that happen? What is the down side?
In this video what size tire was on the jeep that had the first set of Curries? Looks like it was a JL. Love the video and it helped me reach my decision.
Great video. So a couple years ago you broke the axle shaft on your spicer. Do you think that would have happened with any of the other axles you showed and also do you think the other companies would have honored the warranty in the same situation?
Great Info!! I've been trying to decide which 60 axles to go with. I was leaning toward Currie already and this confirms I'm on the right track. Do you have an opinion on the strength or weakness of the high pinion rear axle? I've heard the reverse cut gears are a bit weaker on the high pinion rear. I wish they still made the F9 axles, but they aren't on the Currie website anymore. Hopefully I'll be getting in touch with you in the future for a V8 swap!
UD60 all day! Best thing I did for my Jeep, I could have easily got pro rocks and I am beyond happy with them. Always go Eaton, always end up behind stuck rigs dealing with ARB issues.
Hey whoa dont sleep on the 1310. I broke a 60 stub shaft with a tom woods 1310 shaft. When it finally goes, I will be going 1350, but you absolutely dont have to have a "1350 at minimum."
Do you think the Currie LP60 (40 spline w e locker) rear axle can handle 40’s in the rocks on a JKU? I have a Tera44 with 1/2” 3.25” tubes with Revolution US forged shafts in the front right now with 37’s and only ever had a rear twisted bent Revolution shaft in the rear on my rear 44. This Currie and keeping my front axle instead of switching to UD60’s and new wheels would save me a tone of cash and time.
Good info & video... But... for jeepers like me who are on the tightest of budgets (as my RU-vid name implies,I'm a traveling witnesser) so I'm only be able to do reclaim upgrades on my TJ...most of the axles you all have talked about cost more than my whole build & that's with the cage, rooftop tent, camping gear/heater/fridge,ect... and I've wheel'd with jeeps like the ones you show at ORPs in Mo,Tn & Ark and do just fine... Don't get me wrong...if one has money to throw around, by all means, go ahead and do them but for me I look at wheel'n much like I look at life... it's not what one has in their possession that matters but instead it's what one holds in their heart... Another words... good parts and proper maintenance will see you through out on the trails... just as the Lord will see you through in life if you let Him....
I don't know if you will get this, it's been a year but I pray you and your family is doing good and your comment is the best I've believe I've ever seen and it made watching this video all worth while even if I hated 4x4s but I don't, I've been truly Blessed with 2 old 4x4 trucks that I wouldn't trade for a new one! So thank you so much a year later! This is from one of the most poorest man in the eyes of the world but one of the most Richest, Richest, Richest man in the whole wide world!!!
My 1996 Mitsubishi jeep J55. has 44/60 swap from a junk yard (1200$ for both) painted, de-geared , ect. along with a 4BT swap propelling 35's Project :$4500. INDESTRUCTIBLE 360°
Since they are pretty close in cost, would you choose the Ultimate 60s or the semi float curries for a diesel JT on 40s ? Someome else recommended fusion axles but I cant find much info
Whats “the best” suspension for a JT that doesn’t require butchering the Jeep frame or altering a brand new set of axles like these? Drilling seems ok but welding im not to keen on. I live where rust is a concern
is the currie hd60 and lp60 for me? mostly just slow and steady crawling at the rubicon. i have a model overland JT with 39s, no lockers and not regeared at this time. im planning on my next step
I have a 63' Gladiator with a Dana 60 full floater in the rear & 44 in the front, would like to go disc in the rear & need the leafspring pads in front on the top of he axle. What can you suggest to me 9n this?
silly to use eaton e-lockers they unlock and re-lock when changing directions and aren't as strong as arb air lockers. you failed to mention the 9" has a 3" lower pinion position which means the driveshaft angle is worse and the driveshaft/yoke/pinion are down in the rocks.
What would you recommend for my jeep gladiator rubicon just to get enough strength to mount 42" tires and save as much $$$$ as possible. Would you know total cost of install ?
Are UD60s with 5.38s strong enough for a 392 running 40” Nitto’s? I know a lot comes down to the driver but I wheel a lot of east coast trails (IE wheelspin) but also wheel out west 1-2x a year. Or would I be better off going with a 60/80 setup?
On the curey axles with 5 lug nuts, will the rock krawler triangulation kit work? For a Jt. I definitely would want to weld it. Is there an option to have curey install it before gearing and powder coat? This might be the option for me if I'm going to change the axles. I would want 60s all around, but I do like the fact I get to keep my wheels instead of a prorock 44 and semi float 60.
I have a JL sport with the 30/35 axles set. It is for sure the rear 35, I got unlucky with this jeep and it didn't have any of the options that bumped it up to a 44 rear... Since the currie front and rear axles reuse a lot of stock pieces, will they still work for me or do I have to purchase Rubicon knuckles and breaks for front/rear?
I used a 78 Ford Dana 60 'sno fighter' in my FSJ Cherokee. The perches for the leaf springs had the same location as the stock Jeep, except they are on top so it was an easy way to get 6" of front lift. High pinion and king pins. Added a locker and some yukon hubs. The stock brakes are not great, they could use an upgrade. It works and is cheaper than the crate axles. Although I wish my jeep had the same level of aftermarket support as the JK/JL''s and the rest of the Wranglers!
