It's a long one, but might save you some time and headaches in the future! I explain here how the Executive membership works and try to help you understand it better and hopefully figure out if it's worth it for you or not.

After knowing how it all works, will you be upgrading or are you gonna stick to the Gold Star?

You explained it very clearly to people who may want to upgrade. In my experience I'm good with the regular gold star membership because I may spend like $100-$150 per month at Costco maybe a little more once in a while with an impulsive purchase. But the issue I had was the person who scanned my card and asked if I wanted to upgrade and I politely said no to her and thought it was the end of it but she proceeded to follow me to self check out while I was scanning and trying to leave because I was in a rush trying to convince me to upgrade which was really creepy no matter how many times I said no. I know that they try to talk you into upgrading but that was really a weird experience for me.

Definitely stay on the gold star if you're not spending enough! And I'm really sorry to hear that was your experience with the floater. I've seen this happen a few times when I've worked on the Front-End, and it bothers me when they get pushy. I know some members will write "don't ask" with a black sharpie on the back of their cards next to the barcode and it sends the message. Sometimes they'll scan the card as they read that and just give it back.

I switched to an executive membership about 7-8 years ago. The refund for purchases has always been more than the difference between the costs of the executive and regular membership for my amount of spending. The refund check that I received in 2023 was over $200 so it paid for the entire membership.

That's a great refund check!

Great video, I have a question…besides the citi Costco visa, what is another good credit you recommend using at Costco for more cash back? Thanks

What happens if I get my executive membership in Mexico and use it in the US? 🤔

My question is if you start with gold and then upgrade to executive, will they send you a new executive card? If not can you ask for a new card and will they give you one? I did start with gold and upgraded a few months ago and I still have my old gold star. It’s fine but sometimes I do want to show I have executive so they don’t waste their time on me. Thanks again as always for the information.

You can go to the membership desk And they'll give you an executive card but they'll ask you to give them the gold star card. The number on the back is the same so it doesn't matter which one you use.

It wasn't quite clear but does the executive membership cash back stack with the Costco credit card, so effectively purchases will yield 4% cash back total (2% from executive, 2% from Costco CC)?
@CostcoDude
@CostcoDude 8 месяцев назад
You are correct. You will be getting a total of 4% cash back when you use your Costco credit card as an Executive member. You are getting it split up into two different checks, one from Costco and one from CitiBank

I just renewed my gold star card today ($60) and now I'm thinking on the Executive card. do I have to pay $60 or $120?
@CostcoDude

If you do it today or sometime this week it'll just be an additional $60.

I have a question @TheCostcoDude Hopefully you can help.. I worked for Costco for 3 years and half and got fired because I already reached the 3 suspension point. This was back in July. If I do go back, would I be able to get my seniority back?
@CostcoDude
@CostcoDude 8 месяцев назад
You won't be able to get your seniority back, but your pay should resume. I believe it's all up to the warehouse manager, but I've also never heard of anyone starting over from zero.

@@CostcoDude I did speak to the GM where I use to work at and he says I could come back in the future (earliest Feb) but didn't ask about getting my seniority back yet. I was hoping to get it back but not sure if it could happen anymore.

On the executive membership does the person you add have to live in the same household? Also does the added person's purchases count towards your 2% cash back? #RFMvids
@CostcoDude
@CostcoDude 6 месяцев назад
Yes to both questions. Though, if you and your friend live in the same Household temporarily and get a membership and then they (or you) moved out we wouldn't really know. Maybe your friend is living with you for a few months while they buy a new house ;)

In order to get a $120 check at the end of the year, I would have to spend $6,000 in one year and $500 a month. 🤔
@knosis
@knosis 20 дней назад
That's $125/week. If you buy literally all your groceries from Costco, then it would be worth it. That's what my wife and I have been doing. We haven't actually paid for a membership since we got the executive membership.

Well I have a friend who bought tires at Costco . She went to pick up her car BAM IT WAS GONE . Costco gave the keys to some joker and the down side costco said they would not pay for it . Bottom line COSTCO CANNOT BE TRUSTED ! I’m looking at there membership but buyers beware .

yea i got a question, why does costco seem like they dont hire anybody lol xD
@CostcoDude
@CostcoDude 8 месяцев назад
The turnover is very low because of the high pay and benefits we get. So you may see the same employees working for many years. There's also so many jobs within a warehouse that it's better to transfer to a different department than to leave. Costco hires in the spring time, and seasonals in the late summer and fall to help for the holidays.
