Don't know what time it is CHALLENGE with a eating disorder RECOVERY spin!
This challenge was harder than most as I am not confident, relying on my hunger cues. It's much more safe to just stay on a loose meal plan schedule but of course, I want to take my recovery to the next step!

What if you did a challenge where you had your meals in reverse order? Like dessert for breakfast, dinner for lunch, lunch for dinner, and breakfast for dessert?

Danngggg I never thought about how much time played into my hunger cues until this video!!! I can only imagine how hard this was! In honor of you, I’m going to go have a snack because I feel like it, even though it’s not “time”! Good job, lovey!!!!

I could not eat without time. I wouldn’t eat if I waited to “feel” hungry. I swear my hunger cues don’t exist anymore. Some days I do feel really hungry but I eat the same thing everyday so I shouldn’t be more hungry than the day before. I can’t trust my hunger cues but maybe my anorexia can’t trust my hunger cues. Who knows ...

I know this comment is pretty late, but if you're still struggling, here's an explanation (if you don't know yet). You've been ignoring your hunger cues at the beginning for so long, your body won't ,,waste" more energy to send hunger cues, because it knows that you won't feed it anymore. You can still be hungry mentally, but in order to get your hunger cues back, you have to force yourself to eat until you're literally stuffed. It'll take some time to get your physical hunger cues back, because your body has to learn to trust you again. Soo, yeah I hope this comment was a bit helpful to you or other people, who read it. For those who are in recovery, stay strong ❤️

really needed to see a video like this today, its one of the hard thinks about eating disorders, and anorexia . This is such an important video honestly! time is such a killer with eating disorders but thank you for showing yet again the real side to anorexia. you are amazing and inspring watchd you from the start and you have come so far x

I know this is a silly thing to notice, but to me that's a very small amount of peanut butter! Have you ever thought about addressing how much of condiments and such you put on things? I know this is a huge help for overeaters when they lose weight to address that, since it is a very "mindless" restriction. But it is restriction nonetheless. Do you prefer small amounts of peanut butter or is it just an "old habit"?

This was seriously the BEST recovery video I have ever watched on RU-vid. I can 100% relate to everything you discussed here and my whole day, sadly, revolves around 'time.' I eat my meals at very specific times every single day. I do not know my hunger or fullness cues and the whole concept of intuitive eating is something I am just now beginning to delve into. Keep an eye on Tyler. His a keeper! I hope this doesnt drain your relationship! Like mine.... AM trying to repair it. My bf said he felt too much like my "nurse"...... ANd I didnt have a job and wasnt a good cook or cleaner. I dont know the "romance"sort of fell away. Tyler wants you to recover so badly, I can see, so your free to be a couple...

Damn I was SO confused about this until I seen "eating disorder" I didn't think people actually allowed or disallowed themselves to eat depending on the time. I've always just ate when hungry.

Yeah, no eating disorders are screwed up like that. I mean right now I’m ignoring my hunger pangs and it’s like 5 oclock and I haven’t eaten yet. So yeah, they’re fucked up :(

You should do a challenge where you dont only challenge fear foods but like challenge your (eating) habits like - take huge bites of food - dont take breaks while eating or to drink something - eat something every hour of the day - dont look in the mirror for a day - eat really fast or really slow - you could try one of those food replacement shakes without knowing the amount of calories it has

This is such a struggle for me tbh. Sometimes im really hungry and want a snack but its not one of the three basic meal “times” so i ignore it. Might try this idea. Thank you ❤️

I really needed to see this! Im at college and I find that my day centers around what times I can and cannot eat. Eating disorders are so weird! I connect with you on not being able to really read your hunger cues. I find that I can be so physically hungry but if I look at the clock and it isn’t the “right time” all of a sudden my hunger is gone! This videi really opened my eyes to this

i would be super cool if made more videos educating about ED talking about your struggles or the time when you were severely ill although it's your choice because it might be difficult for u to talk about that but it would be really helpful so other people could imagine what it's like, u have a lovely accent btw😍

what if you did this challenge for a week or so and fully reset your hunger so that you ate more based off hunger cues? there’s research that shows that eating at certain times every day results in your body releasing hunger signals at those times & i feel like if you wanted to go fully off hunger cues alone you may need to do this longer.

you make my soul so happy! perks of still being at school is having specified eating times however sometimes I find it super annoying because some days I am NOT hungry at all at that time and some days my stomach grumbles in the middle of class! also on weekends for some reason I can't get myself to eat breakfast until at least 10am :( this week I started forcing myself to eat breakfast before school again because at the end of last year when I started recovery I was eating breakfast but starting back at school after summer holidays I fell back into old routine (blaming it on a lack of time). I find it really stressful but I know it will be worth it so I can go to University next year and hopefully finish my final year of school healthy and happy. Thank you SOOOO much for keeping me going! (p.s. I dare you to double the peanut butter and caramel spread on your oats next time)

I tried tapping more into hunger cues, but I don't really know how mine work anymore. Having both anorexia and bulimia has really messed with them.

i don't have an eating disorder but i do have health anxiety so i do have some "fear foods" (worried they'll get me sick) and watching your videos inspires me to challenge them all the time. but even though i can only barely relate to what you're going through i just enjoy watching your videos because you're a great personality. you should go into hosting lol

What a challenge, you're a champ! 😁 And as Tyler pointed out, this would be difficult for anyone. If I didn't have a clock, I doubt I'd be connecting properly to my hunger cues eather. Also, yea, from not realize hunger till suddenly realizing I am ready to eat like, a person, it takes a very short time - or probably just an awareness cue. Which is usually from time or space or such. Like time reaching lunch time. Or for me, getting into my car in the afternoon, or steeping out of that car and into my home always triggers hunger for me :) But if I don't leave my home all day, I might not even feel any hunger before reaching typical dinnertime 🤔

Until I watched this video, I didn’t even think about the time aspect of my eating disorder. And now that I think about it, time has a lot of control over me too. So to honour our bravery and courage I’m doing this challenge tomorrow! Aaaggghhhh I’m scared!

I think this is so important to see. There feels like a huge gap between eating in recovery and and eating intuitively but it’s hard to know how to cross over to the latter. I hope you continue to share your journey with this and we can figure it out together

There are so many things that are challenging to somebody with an eating disorder😳I have a few close friends who struggle with this, yet I never knew! I would never have considered eating at random times to be anything more than slightly annoying, but then I dont feel the need to make sure I eat something 5 times a day. Its simultaniously confusing and very enlightening to watch your videos.Thank you for giving this insight. I am rooting for you!

I’m so impressed with this!!!! I know that time is a thing for me and many EDs but it never seems to be something people tackle head on like this. Even “normal eaters” aka non-ED-having people have set times for meals and our society is so tied to these time norms for meals. Not saying that it comes from a disordered place, but why do we need to conform if we don’t want? If you want sushi at 7am and pancakes at 3pm who tf cares???? Love this so so much and I will continue to challenge my timing “rules” from now on out!

I think that if I would do this challenge I would go TOTALLY crazy, time is literally EVERYTHING to me, everything I’m doing in my day I’m doing it depending on time ! For example I would literally starve myself because it is still not time to eat lunch, even if I’m super hungry... :(
