It's easy to tell that you're a good mentor. Your messages are encouraging and focus on positive concepts. Thank you!

Thanks Tony. Just want to share my personal experiences in this business and encourage anyone who wants to put in the work to join me!

I agree with Tony, there's not enough people like Jesse in the world.

To elaborate on a point you made I think it very much also comes down to WHAT you are doing musically. Music (or anything for that matter) may be your passion and I agree...your passion should be the ultimate way to make a living but if you are doing something with you don't like ...ex. playing a type of music you don't care for you probably won't have much passion in it. That's one of the great things about Sync music is often get the chance to do many styles AND be creative. I know many musicians who playing music has become a "job" (as in something they don't like which is usually because they are playing music they don't like or in an environment they don't like (possibly cover songs or performing in places they don't like or with other musicians they don't like). The trick is finding what it is YOU really enjoy about making music and making that work for you so you don't feel like your'e working for it ;)

Excellent advice. I actually hit that wall and pretty much stopped music altogether, but after exploring other avenues like graphic designing, I realized that nothing inspires me more than music, and music licensing is a great path to take for any music producer. Thanks for the video.

10 years into music as a job (not licensing, that’s my new pursuit) and I love it more than ever!

Can you please do something on where to look to add new members to a band? Like what what sights are good for finding the right people the right team? Also how to word things in advertisements on what you are looking for? Are there websites or do you look at open mics or both?

Sorry, I just educate producers and musicians about the licensing business. When I was looking for band members many years ago, I would post on local bulletins at music shops. But I'm sure you could find a facebook group of musicians in your local town/city to connect with.

"Don't make music your job" is an outdated belief that goes back centuries, perhaps thousands of years. It is mentioned in some writings by great Renaissance thinkers. Thanks for challenging this belief and talking about it openly on your channel, Jesse.

I didn't know that! Just goes to show nothing really changes under the sun;-)

@@SyncMyMusic During times of war (which was basically all the time), it was considered "unmanly" for kings and warriors to study music. Making a career out of music was widely regarded as low-class and solely for entertainment. The belief was that pursuing a career in music made warriors' hearts weak and thus ineffective in battle, which goes to show how powerful music really is. You can find such an example in the book "Il Courtier" by Castiglione. Okay, enough of the history lesson, forgive me lolol

right after I quit my job to pursue my music career full time because I always heard "make money from your passion and you'll never work another day in your life" I see this video lol

It's still a dream job! But if it were easy, EVERYONE would already be doing this full-time:-)

True. I think it beats doing something you dont care about and at the same time each work day you're also perfecting your craft in a way...I do agree however, it does take the excitement away when you're making music as a job. Regardless, the music business comes down to who you know because the market is very saturated so it's lot harder to get exposure.
